Busy Weekend
barb.j.enders and 6 others reacted to bcdennis for a topic
Got these done this weekend. All Sue Mey designs, well mostly. The first one is a combination of her Fishing and Hunting Crosses I call the Sportsman cross. The 2nd is her Mother Cross but I take the word "Mom" off of it for just an angle cross. The last is her Nature cross. All 3 are out of 3/4 inch Poplar.7 points -

Tractor pattern
amazingkevin and one other reacted to rjR for a topic
Made from 1/4" plywood and some shop scrap--cedar I think, fence rescued for sure. About 8 inches tall and 11 inches long. Pattern supplied by Birchbark, slightly modified by rjR. The Tractor is a "Friday" Brand and very rare. The customer has seen a picture of it and loved it. So, I dared to then post it here. Background has a very slight torching added. Coated with a quick coat of spray poly. When I cut things like this I always try to make a template at the same time. I stacked 3; with the template and the P-C saw did excellently!2 points -
Magnifying Lights

Since you switched to LED you 'CAN' dim it if you want to. Just go to Menards buy a LED DIMMER SWITCH a electrical box that fits it. A little lamp cord, plug and outlet plug. Wire the plug through the box to the in of the dimmer switch, wire the outlet plug through the electrical box to the out of the switch. Close up the box and add a switch plate. If you get a lot of lamp cord you can put the box anywhere on the side of the scroll saw or where ever. RJF https://www.menards.com/main/search.html?sf_categoryHierarchy=&search=led+dimmer2 points -
adhesive shelf paper
Roberta Moreton and one other reacted to kmmcrafts for a topic
I've tried wrapping it around the edges and found that it's thicker than packing tape and also seems to not stick quite as good as packing or blue tape.. so I always put the shelf liner on the top piece and then use packing tape to go around each side to hold the stack together.. Seems to work better than the shelf liner for the stack cutting..2 points -

Neat work. Messy shops are BUSY shops!2 points -
I might give these a try. As it is, when cutting bigger pieces I have the saw throat to deal with, my belly, and the current mag/light. With these I would only need to worry about the throat and my belly being in the way!2 points

Back again from Wisconsin
MTCowpoke22 reacted to Scruffydog for a topic
Hi All, I am back in the shop again and on the forum. I took an extended absence last year and was dealing with some things, but things are back to normal now. Things in the shop have been neglected for a long time, so I'll have to reacquaint myself with some things as my memory isn't what it used to be. Sorry in advance if I ask some dumb questions. But it's good to be back among the living and back in the shop again. Cheers! SD1 point -
Here there be dragons...
Phantom Scroller reacted to RabidAlien for a topic
Two dragon patterns I found on Google. Cut in 3/8" BB ply (I think....they were sized right and came out of my scrap pile). Pieces are stained Dark Walnut with a clear satin lacquer, backer is neon green rattlecan with a clear glossy lacquer. These two will be the front and back panel of a dice tower (basically an enclosed box with an opening at the top and bottom, and angled baffles inside so that when you drop dice in they bounce around and roll randomly, no chance of someone trying to manipulate a roll). The right-hand dragon is shorter to leave an opening at the bottom of the tower for the dice to exit. I'll post a pic of the final product when I get it finished. I couldn't really find any good step-by-step plans, so this was mostly "take a look at a bunch of pictures and then give it a solid try".1 point -
I was in a Dollar Tree the other day and found some shelf paper that was adhesive. I am working on a 12x12 pattern so thought I would give it a try. Seems to be working fine on a stack of 1/8" BB. I didn't cut it large enough to wrap around the edges to had to tape them together.1 point

Curves
SCROLLSAW703 reacted to dgman for a topic
Maybe you can give us some more information on what you are trying to cut and what blades you are using. All blades should cut curves. After all, that’s what a scroll saw is supposed to excel in!1 point -
I don't fasten mine to the fan so the suction of the fan holds it tight to the back of the fan.. If I put it in front it'd blow the filter away..1 point

You must have found a machinist to help you make that..1 point

My guess wood be the in side as you don't want dust n stuff going through the blades. But hey I have been known to be wrong on the odd occasion. Merlin...1 point

I am not going there either for it seems there is at least one person here that does not like any of my comments, suggestions, or any of my postings and probably more of them out there so I will do what I want and keep it to myself.1 point -

I am on some and will when I make a pen to go along with the idea of the puzzle. Do not want to make all wooden boxes because then I have to jack the price up and wanted these as a quick $20 sale.1 point -

Thanks for all the information guy's. I believe I will try the Ottlite as I am used to the configuration and have everything set up to mount it by my saw. grizz1 point -
I cannot agree with you more about the Hawk blade changing, LOL I have three of these lights.. and the fourth one is unknown because it came new with my old Hawk ultra and I have no idea of brand etc.. anyway my oldest one of the Menards ones is 13 years old.. I just changed out the bulb last year to a LED bulb.. liked the LED so much better than I changed it in all of them.. I'll link to the bulb I bought too.. as they are not all created equal.. One of the bulbs is from Menards as well.. but the plug for the wires is fixed in one position and at an angle that while works.. took some finagling to get it to work.. The bulb in the link below has a swivel pin connector so you can change the angle of it.. While that's true it's difficult at best to try a variety of lights, especially if you buy on-line. Even if you purchase one at a craft store it's unlikely they will be on display to try out. So going by the experience of others is valuable. I don't think I've ever seen a comparative review in any of the woodworking mags I subscribe to?1 point

Box fan filter
OCtoolguy reacted to milehiscroll for a topic
Having memory issues since having chemo sometime ago. Anyway took my box fan filter off and cleaned everything. Now I can't remember which side the new filter goes on. Have search internet but guess I'm making it to complicated. Would really appreciate your help to the simple question of Which side does the filter go on? Thanks0 points -
