  1. This baby is so big that I am going to cook and eat, once my wife catches and kills it for me. I saw this one on Steve Good's site and just had to have a go at it today. I'm not sure what I will do with it but when my wife gets back from Oregon, I am sure she will let me know. A really quick piece to cut and finish and it is a rather cool Halloween pattern, I think. If you are looking to make an additional Halloween decoration, this just might be one you might enjoy putting out every year or giving to a family member for their decoration Dick heppnerguy

    Perched Eagle

The pattern is by Theodore Buzzeli and found in CWWC September 2007. It is cut on 1/4" Baltic Birch plywood 12" square and backed with a black mat board. I used FD New Spiral #1 blades and finished with two coats spray Shellac. As a framing store, I will leave this unframed. The customer can chose the frame. Comment welcome.

    Haunted House Pattern

Haunted House Table Ornament Pattern This funky looking haunted house is fun to build and just right for a Halloween display. You can download the pattern below, which includes the outline for the house and the window frames. The frames have to be cut out separately and painted black. The house is painted purple and stands about 10" tall. Cut from 3/4" pine board. I also cut out some slats from 1/4" birch play about 2" wide and measured five sections of the roof to cut the lengths. Painted them black and then attached with glue and brads. The whole shebang is attached to a segment of the cut out painted black for a base.Download free pattern on my Free pattern page: http://baggetta.com/pebooks/puzzle_patterns.htm

  8. she is not afraid of spiders and will catch them, should she find one inside the house and take it outside and release it. If she did that, the spider may walk away and then what would I do? I like your sense of humor. You think a lot like I do Dick heppnerguy

  9. Yes you will probably get much higher quality bearings at a local shop. Ray at Seyco told me it was a crap shoot on the ones he had as they were made in China. You might get a good one and you might not. Good luck, I hope you get some good parts and get it up and running soon. grizz

Hi everyone. I really like the wood. I'm pretty sure I could have just cut a straight line and it would have looked good.

  13. I just have to say, I don't hear these stories about the Hawks and Hegners which have a much simpler mechanism than most other saws. Obviously these other saws have qualities which make them desirable. I can't say as I have only used an EX for just a few minutes. It was very smooth.

  14. I saw that on Steve's' site. I thought how great would that be supersized? Maybe 1/2" or 3/4" MDF and covered in brown shag carpet (is that still available?) Think 4 ft long and...Naw, now I'm being silly. May have to check Harbor Freight for a cheap jig saw.

  15. As they say, replace it now or replace it later. But you probably will have to replace it, and the saw is already taken apart.

  20. Hi everyone i am brand new to the village and scroll sawing. I picked up an almost new jet 22" saw and have done my youtube research on blades and have went with the fd ultra reverse blades. I now would like to know what type of wood i should be working with. Im a broke family man so i dont have a ton of money to blow on big money hardwoods. So im hoping someone can help guide me in the right direction. Thanks

    WhiteWolf Eagle

An eagle portrait by WhiteWolf. I think I got the pattern from the pattern library but going back to look for it I cannot find it. Perhaps just my bad eyes. Cut from 1/4" BB, 50/50 BLO, #2/0 Pegas MG blade. I will say the Pegas blade cuts like a charm but dulls quickly cutting plywood.

  22. Hello everyone. My name is Brandon, and i am a brandnew scroller. I got my saw which is a jet 22in about a week ago for what i thought was a smoken deal. It is used but it looks like there was not many hours on it. I want to change that! Some of my first memories in my grandpas workshop were when i was 8 or so and scrolling is what i would do. So i guess its kind of a nostalgic thing for me. I really want to get into intarsia. But i know for right now i just need to focus on the basics. Im still trying to get up to speed on the forum thing and how everything works here. This is the first community ive ever joined. So thank you for having me!

You do some really awesome work. And the step by step of unwarping a piece of wood will help in the future too. Thanks for posting.

  24. Well...it's coming along. cut out the K & C this morning, made a backer and painted where the arrowhead outline will be black. Thought I had some red paint...must be out. I'll run up and get some after lunch. If all goes well I might have another picture this evening. Then I have to learn how to make frames, as I am starting to accumulate things that need to be framed. May have to cheat and make square corners till I learn to make 45 Deg. corners tight.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments. At ArtCrafters, we received the Pegas Scroll Saw for classes, demos, and test drives. I set it up. but waiting for the Seyco vacuum system before I play with it.

    Steve Good

I liked Steve Good's patterns, until I ran into his "military" category, noted how much respect he gives all the branches (including Coasties), and then I saw he even included a pattern for submariners. Now, I LOVE Steve Good's patterns!!! Great cutting, and good job on the framing!

  27. That was my 1st thought. I once replaced the clutch in my car but neglected to replace the throwout bearing. 6 weeks later, I had the privilege of tearing it all down again. At Least the bolts weren't frozen on.

  29. That might depend on how much the bearings are.. If i buy the whole assembly I'll be taking it apart anyway to use my GOOD grease in it.. so it's not going to be just a slap it together and run it thing either way... The bearings I need appear to cost me $20 if I order them online.. I'm going to check with my local bearing shop ( Edwards Industrial ) or ( Detroit Bearing ) to see what they have.. I've found that they ( though a little higher priced ) usually can get me higher end made bearings.. Did this with my DW and the saw ran forever before it needed rebuilt again..

  30. if it's free you want your my kind of scroller. I get 99% of my wood for free.Rental 2 story townhouses are a treasure trove for good hardwoods from furniture .The first of the month they move out so watch before hand to get the good stuff. Carpenter shops are good for cabinet grade plywood in all sizes and usually just the right size to fit in the scroll saw. Craigs list and offer up have free wood and hard wood sawdust for free now and then. Welcome friend!!!

    Thanks Dave Monk

Dave ( @Dave Monk ) was kind enough to do this pattern for me, thank you. The painting was the hardest part. I can't remember what the wood was but I think it was an Aussie one. The shape is an Aussie football. Marg

Yes they are into the finals. Semi final this weekend and final on Sat. 28th Sept. Semi's are Richmond Tigers v Geelong and Collingwood v GWS I think. I am not a footy fan so I'm not 100% sure. Marg

  34. you are right. I know this but mine is a tarantula and they don't have the red hourglass, so once you learn to identify your spiders, you will understand that..HEY don't look up as there is a huge spider coming down from the ceiling on a web. There really is....darn, you still didn't look up Dick heppnerguy

Looks like the search for the perfect frame will begin soon. I love it when someone receives something that is home made and so perfect that it just has to have a great frame to set it off. This one will sure find a place of honor where everyone entering the room will notice it Dick heppnerguy

  42. Great job on all of those! I love the cat. I use Folkart Ultra Dye which comes in some great colors but is water based also and raises the grain. As far as I can tell there isn't anything considered child safe that isn't water based so I guess there's no way around it.

    Honor Flight

Jerry, you are so right. Our second son was in the Old Guard at Fort Myer, Va. He was on the burial unit that was responsible for all the military burials at Arlington Cemetery. A very tough job both in duties and also the rigid rules and regs they go through. They had to press their uniforms 3 times a day. Now, he runs a baseball park.
