    WhiteWolf Eagle

An eagle portrait by WhiteWolf. I think I got the pattern from the pattern library but going back to look for it I cannot find it. Perhaps just my bad eyes. Cut from 1/4" BB, 50/50 BLO, #2/0 Pegas MG blade. I will say the Pegas blade cuts like a charm but dulls quickly cutting plywood.

  2. Hello everyone, not sure if this is the correct place to post this, but I wanted to share a birthday present I just finished for a great friend, he is going to go bats. The pattern is by Gayle, the record album was dug out of the basement, I made a frame to allow me to install LED lights and mounted the record on the top. I'm am computer illiterate so I hope these pictures will be in this post. Thanks for looking.

I was at a 2 day craft fair last weekend. ”have you got a lion?” No, but I can get a pattern! I printed it off at the end of the day. Gave the lady the copy the following day. Rang me Monday, “yes please” just need to make a frame. Steve Good pattern. 1/4” ply, satin black backer.

    Haunted House Pattern

Haunted House Table Ornament Pattern This funky looking haunted house is fun to build and just right for a Halloween display. You can download the pattern below, which includes the outline for the house and the window frames. The frames have to be cut out separately and painted black. The house is painted purple and stands about 10" tall. Cut from 3/4" pine board. I also cut out some slats from 1/4" birch play about 2" wide and measured five sections of the roof to cut the lengths. Painted them black and then attached with glue and brads. The whole shebang is attached to a segment of the cut out painted black for a base.Download free pattern on my Free pattern page: http://baggetta.com/pebooks/puzzle_patterns.htm

    Seeing the lines

I cheat and put my patterns through Inkscape, that way I can change the lines to 'red' as I find them easier to follow that way and I can also make the lines a little 'wider' too without compromising the overall pattern.

I have a magnifying light.. Like this: https://www.harborfreight.com/fluorescent-magnifying-lamp-60643.html They are considered good especially for the price. There are better ones and I am sure worse ones. I have this one and expensive one (around $120) I don't think my expensive one is that much better.

  7. I always ( well most of the time ) use Minwax Pre-Stain. Then I used Minwax Puritan Pine stain lightly. I'll let it dry overnight and glue it all together in the morning. I may finish it up with a Minwax Polyurethane gloss or satin. I just set it together to see what it will look like. Had a little problem with the E on this one. Next time I think I'll make the CHIEFS a little larger. That and the real B/BB plywood I got today should make it a lot easier.

  8. This baby is so big that I am going to cook and eat, once my wife catches and kills it for me. I saw this one on Steve Good's site and just had to have a go at it today. I'm not sure what I will do with it but when my wife gets back from Oregon, I am sure she will let me know. A really quick piece to cut and finish and it is a rather cool Halloween pattern, I think. If you are looking to make an additional Halloween decoration, this just might be one you might enjoy putting out every year or giving to a family member for their decoration Dick heppnerguy

  9. Karate: Respect and Confidence When I saw the movie "The Karate Kid" many years ago, I was impressed with the theme. Most people think of Karate as only a weapon, but the movie impressed upon the viewer that it was more than that. It was pictured as a whole way of life and the elements of respect and confidence were a part of that life. I thought it would make a nice table sign, so here it is. The lettering has an Asian look to it and I attached a dragon's head to the right side of the the sign. It is cut from cherry wood, but sits upon a custom cut top layered base of curly maple and that in turn sits upon a rectangular mahogany base. Used a round over router bit to shape the edges. Makes a nice piece for the student of the art. Free patter can be downloaded from my Free Pattern Page: http://baggetta.com/pebooks/puzzle_patterns.htm NEW VIDEO: I recently had a request for a small half urn that can be used as part of A craft project. I decided to make the urn using a compound cut, so I designed a small pattern and worked out a system for cutting these Half Urns. I thought maybe someone else might like to use the idea, so I offer the pattern here and also made a video of the process you can check out on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ASDmwqOwyKo&t=24s

    Repeat box in Bubinga

I had made this box pattern a few years ago using Paduak wood and the bane of Padauk is eventually gets darker. I had some pieces of 1/4" Bubinga and wanted to try it again. I had enough pieces for the top and sides but the pieces I had for the bottom was cupped pretty good. I had read a few articles on straightening out cupped/warped wood and thought to give it a try. I put some hot water in a plastic storage tub with a weight on top and left out side in the sun for several hours. It did straighten it out. I then sandwiched it between 2 pieces of 1/4" glass with 40 lbs of weight and kept it there for a few days. Amazing! It came out straight. I used a #2 skip tooth blade and it also worked well for the veining. I built the sides of the box first and they have two tabs that insert into the base and that also helped from further cupping. I finished with shellac and some light sanding and a few coats of Clear Gloss lacquer. I posted the book I had gotten the patterns from. I have done several other boxes from this book and I like their patterns.

  18. About a year ago I lost my wife to complications with cancer. I took a few months off to get used to my new life ... shown are a few samples of some of the work I have been doing to get ready for some craft shows this fall. I have a variety of crosses and other layered items. I will be posting more items later .... I feels good to be making sawdust again.

    Seeing the lines

Is it just me...or does anyone else have trouble seeing the little lines to cut on? I wore glasses most of my life. About 15 years ago I got my eyes lasered and only need +1.5 reading glasses if the light is not real good. But...I'm having a heck of a time trying to see all those little lines to cut. After I stare at it for a while with the small #1 blade going up & down, and the little light on the saw kind of shines on one side leaving a little shadow on the other...they get kind of fuzzy lol. What do the rest of you do? Am I the only one having a problem?

    Good News...Bad News

Here are a couple of photos of my frame sled. It is crude but accurate (enough for me anyway). I made a first one the after seeing all my mistakes I made this one. Still lots of things I would change. I spent $20 for Delrin strips for the runners. They would have been ideal except the six foot piece had a bow in it. Stuff was impossible to straighten. I should have just ripped a 1" (3/4") board. It would have worked as well. The clamps aren't necessary. Others here suggested a strip of 80 grit sandpaper to grip the frame material. Also my saw is just a small collapsible Kobalt from Lowe'd. It does everything I need to do quite nicely. The sled is used with the blade at it's highest position.

    Seeing the lines

Mmm, several reasons. 1) Did you have what you wanted to print on the 'page' as it only prints what it can see. 2) I always do a ''trace bitmap'' of my pattern and work on that if it's not a PDF.. 3) If it is a Pdf then click on the colour you want the main pattern to be (I use grey) and then ''right click' on the colour you want the outline (stroke) to be.

  22. It's great to hear that you have resurrected your saw Kevin. I was hoping you'd be able to "feel the love" as I do for mine. I'm still not feeling that way for my Hawk though. Not the saw itself. Just the fact that I can't get comfortable sitting at it. Too darned tall! I have a tall shop stool but I can't seem to get a foot switch/stool configuration that works for me. I really don't want to cut the legs down but if I can't come up with a design for a new stand, I might just sell it.

  24. Finished putting this back together this morning and dialed everything in.. Cut out some ornaments to be sure it still runs as it should.. All seems good.. Runs much quieter and smoother.. Should run a good amount of hours with the fresh cleaned up and a good grease added to it.. Now when running it I don't hear the Harley coming up the rd. like I did before.. Not a good sounding Harley either.. as I like the sounds a real Harley makes, but not so much when it's actually a China made scroll saw Harley

  35. Well today.. inspecting all the parts etc. after cleaning them up and taking a closer look.. I think maybe the bearings did have grease.. I used a couple cans of brake cleaner and everything looked pretty good.. One sleeve was beat up a little but after cleaning it all up it was barely noticed with my finger nail.. so.. I took and cleaned them all up with some emery cloth and really not too bad of shape.. so I just greased everything up and they all see to feel smooth running so I put most of it back together tonight.. but i got stumped on a couple wires.. I took a picture of the wires from the motor etc at the circuit board.. but the two wires that I assume are grounds as they have a loop style end where a screw goes through.. One is green and the other is green with yellow stripe.. i can't remember where they were screwed too.. LOL Looked at my picture I took but they was already unhooked.... I believe one of them screws to the body of the saw right below the motor.. but not sure what one and where the other one goes.. Was getting tired so maybe when I go out in the morning I'll see here they go and think to myself duh.. LOL I ended up taking the front rocker arms off and cleaning / greasing those bearings and sleeves etc too.. sure can tell it's smooth rolling just moving them by hand.. can't wait to fire the thing back up and see how it goes...

  36. What I'd like to know is what parts of the saw are made in China? would they really retool the whole saw and do the whole thing? Bearings are just bought from a bearing manufacture.. most likely in china for ALL saws whether made in Taiwan or China.. I doubt the motor is made from any place else.. I'd guess not a whole lot.. short of just assembling it I'd bet most all the parts are the same.. just assembled.. I don't know.. just seems odd to have the same saw made in two different locations.. Most the parts in the old EX was made in china anyway.. @hotshot I'd have took the deal on the big EX.. after all.. all the parts are still available from Ray... and other sources.. The expensive parts are the motor.. the rest is mostly bearings etc..

  37. You are right, the older model was different only in Paint, but this is the newer model is a slight departed from the 788 design, but not sure how much. The bearings in the existing broken part is new and seems untouched from the damaging blow to the main part..

  39. Randy, which model Delta is it? If it’s the older model, that part will for sure interchange. If it’s the current model, I don’t know if it will or not. I just junked a DeWALT saw. If you want to try it, I’ll send it to you. But understand that the bearings need to be replaced. Send me a PM IF SO.

  45. Test your stain out on some scraps of the Baltic birch ply before committing to the project. BB ply is prone to blotching and you may not like the results. You can try a pre-stain conditioner, but the color of the stain won't be quite as dark as you might expect.
