Needed cheering up

I had a day where 'nothing' went right. I couldn't do right, I couldn't say anything right, I broke a cup and a plate by not holding them right. So in the end I took myself off to the shed and picked a cute, easy, flowing piece to cut. Now I feel better It didn't take long to cut (1 hour) but when I'm at my saw the rest of the world goes away for a while, it's great therapy !!!!8 points -

ROAD TRIP !
jbrowning and 2 others reacted to OzarkSawdust for a topic
My new King 16" saw is in !!! Going to Kansas City to get it today! WOO HOO !!! Good thing too. I was cutting a different hummingbird pattern yesterday and noticed that I messed up. This one has a butterfly on it, and I cut the large pieces on either side...but there are several small cuts in the wings. I think, hope, I'll be alright. There are two bridges and the new King should have a lot less vibration. At certain speeds the WEN doubles as a paint shaker...two machines in one!3 points -
Hi everyone. This isn't a scroll saw project but I just wanted to show you all what I made for my sons grill. I did use the scroll saw on a few of the parts for the shelves to fit them in tight. This is 4 feet long and 3 feet tall and all made out of cedar. He has a Kamato Joe grill which is almost like the Green Egg grills. He got his kitchen remodeled with new countertops and I told him to save the center aisle one and I would make him a cabinet for outside. The top is made out of Corian. The grill will sit in where the hole is. Now I just have to get someone to help me put it in my Van. It's pretty heavy.3 points

Newest Breed of Dog - Puzzle
VernLeonard and one other reacted to Iguanadon for a topic
Humorous stuff... Someof you already know about Griffin, our most recent rescue dog. We knew he was half Pitbull, but the other half was a mystery. I thought maybe Schnauzer, but after having a DNA test done, we found out the other part is Shihtzu... So, we have what is possibly a one of a kind PitBULL SHIHTzu mix... or what I like to call him... a BULLSHIHT. I sent Harvey Byler 4 photos of Griffin and I just received his drawing and here he is as a puzzle...2 points -
Harbor Freight Orbital Sander & New Sandpaper
kmmcrafts and one other reacted to teachnlearn for a topic
It does work to hide behind your bench and put wood pieces on the clamped sander to shoot at your enemies. For 4 x 8 sheets, I'll check for a portable 4 x 8 sander to clamp down. RJF2 points -
Tilting Saw Tables
OzarkSawdust and one other reacted to Scrappile for a topic
Me,,, always the odd-ball. I tilted mine when I had the DeWalt and used it a while and for some reason, that I have since forgot, did not really like it so I un-tilted it and have not tilted any of my saws since.2 points -

Little advice. In the good old days, when you received an Excalibur from Seyco, it was tuned before shipping. All the buyer had to do was pretty much put it together and scrolled. The new ones do not get this service treatment from the seller. Read the operator's manual. It if it vibrates there are things to check and adjust. The main one is adjusting the motor by rotating it. Know there are things to do to tune the saw if it needs it. It may not, but just be prepared if necessary. You are one of the first I know of that has purchased the King saw. I am very anxious to read your opinions.2 points

ROAD TRIP !
OzarkSawdust and one other reacted to kmmcrafts for a topic
I've had my share of paint shakers / scroll saws over the years.. mainly when I first started out.. but every once in a while I buy another just for the confirmation that my expensive saws are worth it..2 points -
Yeah it was funny some time ago, I measured mine, and silly me, I asked what others were using for a tilt, I got every answer except degrees - too funny2 points

Tilting Saw Tables
GrampaJim and one other reacted to OzarkSawdust for a topic
I went out and tried it yesterday. I like it! I used a 2x4 under the back and the Wixey showed 6.5 deg. so I added a 1x4 - 9.6 deg. thought that was a little too much so I swapped the 1x4 for a piece of cedar fence picket...8.6 deg. OK stop right there. Very scientific...lol.2 points -

Had my first fall craft show today, did pretty good $324 About the same as last year give or take a couple dollars. Was surprised I didn't sell any cell phone stands, Tried Frame less pictures for the first time and only sold one. Did manage to get a couple orders though. That was my only outdoor show and the rest is inside. Two more shows this month.1 point

Tilting Saw Tables
Jim Finn reacted to Bill WIlson for a topic
Where the tilting head on the EX really shines is when cutting projects like stacked ring bowls & boxes, like those that Carole Rothman designs. Some of the angles are pretty steep and it's much easier to cut the rings with the table flat than it is with the table tilted at a high angle. I've cut them on both a DeWalt and an Ex and I much prefer the EX for these kinds of projects.1 point -
Tilting Saw Tables
OCtoolguy reacted to teachnlearn for a topic
Seems to be a starting trend here of tilting the table a little. Wonder how long its going to take the mgrs. to take this idea and add it to their machines? Someone want to send this thread to the mgrs? RJF1 point -
Not all us girls read directions, but we do look at the pictures. Actually I have done a lot of compound cuts and they can be testy if you don't pay attention. Check out the video on YouTube. There are a lot of videos there on the subject. Here is just one of them. Good luck.1 point

ROFL you guys are funny! @jbrowning I don't get the mag or the patterns anymore, but if the pattern has a dotted line down the center, yes it is compound. Stick the pattern to a block of wood with the dotted line on the edge of the block. Then cut one side, tape it all together, and cut the other side1 point

I wonder what the little vacuum is. It sure would take up less room and be easier to move around. The Filter Queen vacuum I use runs constantly and only gets warm. The Hegner DC sort of works it is not worth the $80 or so I paid. I works on a kind of ridiculous premise. I'll rework it when I get upset enough. Some have spoken sometime ago about what some called fireplace ash vacuums. I'll have to google them and see exactly what they are about. I like the tiny footprint of the Seyco system which would allow it to possibly be hung under the saw stand. Also it would not take much to make a separator for a quart jar. I'm just brainstorming. I do everything to maximize space in my little shop. I'll stop rambling for now.1 point

My advice is buy the Dremel chuck from a local retailer not Amazon. I had to return 2 of them that were cheap china knockoffs in a non sealed Dremel package. The one I bought at Lowes was made in West Germany and in a sealed package.1 point

Question about miter saws
OCtoolguy reacted to Bill WIlson for a topic
I have a Dewalt 12" standard miter saw. It doesn't have a laser, but it has something better, an LED light that shines down and casts a shadow of the blade on the wood. It shows exactly were the blade will contact the wood. It works great!1 point -
Question about miter saws
OCtoolguy reacted to Oldmansbike for a topic
Thanks for all the replies. I think as soon as I sell my Hitachi miter saw I'm going to go with the Dewalt 779. It's the same price as the Hercules and has a longer warranty. It doesn't have a laser but that doesn't matter to me.1 point -
