I did each of these with a #4 spiral blade and raised them a little. Each I finished with 321 or semi gloss poly. All the wood was given to me by my brother. I have already sold one at Art Z Studio for $75. My first one I did in walnut, the fourth one here, I went back to look at it but decided to leave it in the store, it sold three days later. That's ok, my brother is going to bring me more wood like this. The cherry one here is a little over an inch thick an is still in the garage. I think it would be too heavy to hang on the wall. I really like the grain in each one of them. Thanks for looking

  3. Went in the house to grab a snack and some tea...came back to the shop and my chair had been taken over by one of the neighbor kitties. I told her to get out of my chair...she just curled up and went to sleep! After I got the blue tape on and the pattern glued up I picked her and the cushion up and transferred her to a tote on the end of my glue up table. She was so concerned that she stayed awake for a minute or two before going back to sleep! She knows a warm dry shop when she sees one...

  6. Hello All Sorry if this is not the correct forum but I am too excited and wanted to share.....well she finally did something right after 23yrs of marriage!! And I am kidding as she gave me two beautiful daughters. She surprised me with a new Dewalt DW788 and LED Magnifying light for my birthday. I have been using my 20+yo Delta 16in and really had no issues and I had mentioned a year or so that this was my dream scrollsaw to have....raising two girls is expensive and I can't believe she was even listening to me I just finished setting it up and need to get used to it but any tips or tricks would be appreciated.....I am wondering why she bought me the LED Magnifying light? I guess she is telling me something HAHA Thank you all....hope you have been well! Ed

  8. Here are a couple of signs I made recently for gifts. The Ford sign is an attempt at the rustic and grungy look using various paints and scuff marks.....I really like old and rusty signs so this is hanging in my home office. The Jeep sign is for a friend who recently purchased a Jeep and it is to hang their keys on Thank you Ed

  11. Hi, I’m new at scroll saw. I bought the King scroll saw last weekend. I’m just learning , but I love this saw. Everyday after work I rush through dinner, toss the dishes in the dishwasher and head to my husbands workshop. I know I have a lot to learn. It was a little tricky changing the blade. My husband helped me and now I can do it. I’m excited for you. This was my first try.

  12. Congratulations... You have a thoughtful wife. My wife bought me a Craftsman scroll saw on one of our early Christmas'. It was the worst saw I had ever seen in my life, but I used it for many years and never told her how bad it was,,, it was the thought of her doing it that was important to me... Hey, we just celebrated 52 years together a couple days ago...

    Hello

My name is Tammi, I live in Michigan. My husband is a wood worker as a hobby. He makes beautiful things. He has helped me with different projects but I wanted to do something of my own. I’m short and he is tall. So I had to stand on platforms . Then he was showing me pictures of projects made with a scroll saw. He has one so back up on a platform I go. After doing practice cutting he suggested we go to Woodcraft and buy a new one with a stand I can sit up to. So that’s what we did, we bought a King 16”. We have made together quilt pictures, I do all the finishing work. I really enjoyed it. We are going to a craft show in Nov. I sure hope I sell some pictures I have 30. Ken turns pens. my other hobbies are sewing. I have 6 grandchildren, ages are 15 to 21. I work full time at a Plastics factory, I’m an quality engineer. I have a dog and cat. I’m looking forward to developing our friendship.

    My first project

Thank you everyone for the nice comments. I don’t know how to respond to individual ones. One of the questions wa what did I use for coloring. I mix my own stain with colored pigments. Then I put a finish called Bobs Miracle. 1 part Gloss Spar Vanrnish, 1part Boiled Linseed Oil and 1 part Paint Thinner.

  17. Great first project Tammi! I've been at it less than two months and love it. I started with a WEN saw to see if I wanted to, or could do, scrolling as I had never touched a scroll saw before. Then I found I really liked it and got a King 16" last weekend...love the King!

  30. Its been a few years since I posted here, life got complicated, sold my house last year and made a long distance move so sold most of my tools. Anyhow missed scrolling so picked up a new saw. Considered a few options looked at the Wen as it had a low price , but had a Dewalt 788 in the past and knew that the wen was not going to work for me. So was looking for a good price on the dewalt when I found HD had the delta 20" on sale for $299. It was delivered yesterday made a few test cuts today some Halloween stuff, its going to take a little to get back up to making some decent cuts. Anyhow so far happy with the Delta does not seem much different then the dewalt . Been so long it took me awhile to figure out where this forum was on the net.

  32. Most of those are all “Tootsie Rolls” they are just different size rolls and/or packages. The original flavor is chocolate, but they also later introduced other “flavored” ones, a “Tootsie Pop” is a hard coated sucker with a tootsie roll center. What I just learned is that the guy who invented them named them “Tootsie” after his daughter who he called “Tootsie” apparently. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tootsie_Roll

  34. I put a request in earlier today. A couple hours later there it was! Awesome people here without a doubt. Here is the request and story; My wife and her sister just got new matching tattoos a couple of days ago. I asked the artist if I could have one of the patterns that she made and didn't use, it was just a larger version of what they got. Not sure if this can be made into a scroll saw pattern or not. If someone has the time to try I would appreciate it very much. There is a third sister that lives out of state and didn't get a matching one. I would like to make all three of them a cut out if possible. Here is the pattern cut out. Not sure how I will finish them yet. May just put a little bigger painted backer on it and have it hang or make a little leg on the back and have it set on a table. It is 5"x7". Here are the completed projects. (Store bought frames)

  39. I love your signs. I have always really liked the Ford logo and have cut it several times just for the fun of it. Logos are fun to cut. I don't do anything with them so I just stack them up.

  45. After using deltas and Chinese saws I finally traded(some of my beginning intarsias) for a Dewalt. I got her home plugged it in flipped the switch and waited for the noise to begin. There was none. I couldn't believe my ears .Such a quite saw and since then I bought a dozen on Craigs list one at a time .got to have back up's, lol. That magnifier is perfect for cutting coins but regular fret work it slows me down as I tend to not stay dead center on the lines and the mag shows me this. you'll love the creature comforts of the Dewalt. Rarely do i go over 5 on the speed dial and 1.5 on the blade tension. ENJOY!!!

    Customer Request

A customer gave me a picture of what she had in mind. They are going to use this as part of their wedding ceremony. I put a hanger on the back so they can use it as a wall hanging. I really like the concept.

  48. Thanks Bill, The cat was a free pattern I got from a site long since forgotten I reduced it to fit on my boxes. The round one, Love Birds and heart are silhouettes I found online. The Robin is from a tissue box pattern. The Elephants, I found a pic and modified it. Mum I made up using the background of another pattern and the Roos I put in the place of deers.
