    HORSE

This is one of my cuts I start as a filler to work on while taking a break from other projects. Only problem is I just kept cutting once I started... I saw the pattern and thought of a young girl, the daughter of a friend of my daughter, that is a big horse fan. I mean she can tell you all about them... Her folks recently got her into a horse jumping class.. she is doing great. Was in her first competition recently. I hope to give this to her, I think she would like it but I want to get her parents okay first. I like it, if they say no, it will fit on my wall!! Actually I stack cut two, I will have one anyway. I am a horse fan also... This is a Charles Dearing pattern. I had to decided between three of his patterns. I pondered a while then selected this one. When I put it in my horse folder, I noticed I already had the other 2!! Does someone have just two many patterns????

    I did it !!

I did write a post about this and was pleased with myself.....then somehow I deleted it !!!! I'm not writing this to go ''Bragging'' about a piece that I've cut but more about the fact that I've put some photo's on my ''Gallery'' all by myself !!! No kids - No grandkids - No husband was involved. I've only been in the Village since -------August 2018 !!! and I've finally worked it out !! Looking back at my first attempts with Silhouettes and the work I do now, I feel kinda pleased at my progression. A long ways to go but I feel I've definitely improved. Couldn't have done it without the support all the Village have given me.. Thank You.

    VETS Day

Respects to all my fellow vets It is the soldier, not the reporter, Who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, Who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, Who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, Who salutes the flag, Who serves beneath the flag, And whose coffin is draped by the flag, Who allows the protester to burn the flag. by: Father Denis Edward O'Brien, USMC

  6. I cut the Baby Elephant from Judy Peterson's new book called "Baby Animals". It is another one of her great puzzle books. One really great thing about the book is that she has a lot or good information for people new at cutting her puzzles. I cut the Baby Elephant puzzles using a #5 FD Polar blade from 3/4" cherry. The puzzle pieces were sanded lightly using a Mac Mop. It removes any fuzzies and rounds the edges slightly to make putting the puzzle together easier. The puzzle was finished with Danish Oil and then a finishing wax and buffed. I also make a puzzle tray to put it together in. The tray is made of a 1/2" BB with a cut out of the puzzle and a 1/4" BB backing. The tray was finished with shellac. I also made another version of the puzzle which is easier and made for younger children. I used the outline of the Baby Elelphant and then drew in easier pieces and keys., Judy Peterson covers doing this in her book.

    Craft show

Had a great day at the show yesterday, pulled in $377 which tops last year, sold a lot of $5 ornaments those small items really add up, now I have to go and buy more wood and replenish what I sold, looks like I will be putting in a lot of overtime, and still have a couple orders to fill. The traffic was very good and they did a good job on advertising, which the last show I did they didn't advertise, only put it in the school bulletin.

    Puzzle Practice

It's been a long time since I've posted any scroll work and even longer since I've made jigsaw puzzles. This is my amateur radio confirmation card (QSL). It is two-sided, attached to 1/8" BB ply, coated with 3 light coats of Rust-oleum Triple Thick Glaze. I did this just for fun and see what I can improve on. Photography is one thing I can improve on.

    Cake Topper

I have a daughter getting married in January. They've been a couple for 16 years and have lived together for a decade. They have a mortgage, car payments, 2 cats and a dog. I guess that's "commitment" in the 21st century. Anyway I tried to make a pattern with Inkscape, without success, and found this on Pinterest . I snagged a copy and enlarged a lot. Replaced the date and gave it a go. It's not perfect, you can see it doesn't 'flow'. This was my first attempt at this type of project. The stock is 7/16" cherry finished with mineral oil. But all things considered I'm pretty happy with it. And over the moon about the wedding. Maybe I'll get to be a granddad yet - who knows??? Thanks for looking. Comments welcome.

  21. I started making the trays for my grandkids and their mom. It made it much easier to pickup puzzles and put them away. Otherwise, there were puzzle pieces everywhere. I think I have made more than 50 puzzles for them.

  22. Got a new one done, pattern by Botas Helder cut on live edge wood with a pegas #3R flat. Really like this pattern and had to cut it just for fun. Item 2 is same pattern removed from the wood in one piece. I get it this way by using 3M spray 77 and when done cutting I brush mineral spirits on the wood and let it soak for a bit and in most cases the pattern comes away in one piece.

    VETS Day

Jerry, I have to laugh at the expression peace time. The cold war was indeed a war, the public has no idea how close we were, nor how many times we were close to an all out war, and the other side blinked. Thanks for writing that check payable to the United States, for the amount of, "my life if needed" and thank god it was not cashed Army 1969-1989

  25. My son bought me a pegas scroll saw. It runs really smooth. Haven't gotten to work on it to much. I was wondering if I should get a mat to put on the table so I won't scratch it so much. Or would plexiglass glass be better.

  31. I switched from FD to pegas an first thing I noticed was that the pegas blades cut straight. You don’t have to adjust for drift like for FD. The MG cut better in my opinion. Mainly use #3 & #5s
    2 points
  32. Like everyone else, find a blade you like. I have all three major brands and switch according to the job, but most of the time I fall back to FD-UR. It is all in how the driver feels about the blade/wood combination.
    2 points
  33. Welcome to the forum from TN. I use FD UR and Polar blades. ArtCrafters is also a distributor for Pegas. I just started using Pegas MGT blades. You might want to give some a try, but blades are whatever works best for you.

  34. Pegas blades are good, no doubt, if I were you, I would get a few different to try. I, like you was FD only for a long time, but I tried the Pegas blades and there are a few that I really like and use often. I think in general, most like the Modified Geometry blades. I have tried a few of them and I find them too aggressive for what I like to do. I do like Pegas Reverse Skip #3 and the Double Skip #1. The other one I like is the #2/0 spiral. The rest of my blades are FD. I do think Pegas are worth trying and you may like some of or all of them.

  43. Thanks so much for the replies/suggestions!!! I guess I should have mentioned that FD UR are the only blades I've ever used. And so, as I'm cutting more and more I've become adjusted to the drift. But, if there is something better or at least different out there - something that is used by a lot of experienced scrollers - then I'd really like to give them a try. Like a lot of you suggested, I'm going to order a few Pegas blades and see how I like them. Another reason for wanting to see what they're like is the fact that I can by Pegas blades and pay for them in Canadian dollars. If in fact I do like them I would be saving money on the exchange rate. Thanks again for all your wisdom!!! /Oscar

  49. This is the type of heater I use. I work in a 10 x 12 shed and I put a 4x8 addition on it. I keep the shop around 50 when not working, and around 70 when I am in there working. It has no issues keeping it warm. It is 220 v. If something happens to it I will buy another one.
