  3. Well not really but close. This old customer wants to put the machetes on top of her truck drilled to the luggage racks as attention getting advertising with the arrows and who knows what else.if you post a picture on Facebook and show her you get a free necklace. She used to pay good but this time not good $2.00 a piece. The arrows are 36" and the worst to cut because of that on the DeWalt. The discs 1/4" ply x3" are very detail and you can,t blink cutting them or you go off the line. I should have got $12.00 each but got $2.00. These are too detailed to stack cut even two at a time but took 12 minutes to do one.

    Layered dragons

Another papercutting pattern corrupted for scrolling. Seven layers, and I had to order a drill bit small enough to get some of the details pilot-holed, my 1/16 was waaaay too big. Stack-cut this one. 3/8" BB ply, mostly #3 FDUR blades, did the treeline under the big dragon with an 0/2 FD spiral. Still thinking I may play with one of the two and try out an LED strip in front of the back piece. Pattern is from WildChild Designs on Etsy, he's got a lot of great patterns, some quite intricate, but papercutting and scrolling are pretty much the same things, just different mediums. Islands and bridges apply the same for both. https://www.etsy.com/listing/690043666/dragon-fantasy-lightboxlayered?utm_source=internal&utm_campaign=cyber19&ref=cyber_rv-1&pro=1

    Tiny Horse Herd

Made from shop scrap wood mainly. Some pine and some unknown species. These were partly stack cut and partly individually cut pieces to fit the available wood pieces better. The size is about 4 inches by 4 inches by -3-1/3 inches wide. They are left unfinished, so they can be made more personal. ' The design is a T & E special, that seems to change fairly often too. Sometimes to adapt to the resources on hand. Construction uses toothpicks as nails after the glue has cured. Just to add to the playability of them.

  11. OK I have made a decision. and am going to close the poll early. Counting the folks who only expressed their vote in words rather than using the poll, the results here are: painted: 20 unpainted: 3 Adding in people who I asked in person, the results are: painted: 27 unpainted: 5 By the way, I did vote and I voted on the loosing side. I did listen to folks who suggested something other than 'all black' colour. In keeping with the dragon flies that I know well, I left the body black, but changed the wings to silver: This is what I will do for the 5 of these that I will give to others. But I, personally, still like the subtle look of all wood, so will make one unpainted and with a wood backing for myself:

    Ornaments For Charity

    10,004 downloads

Ornaments For Charity is a project from the members of Scroll Saw Village. For the last 13 years, our designers have donated their talents by creating wonderful ornament patterns for the Holiday Season. It has become so popular, and so big, we had to split it into 2 books! Book 1 covers our first 10 years; 2010-2021. Our newest book, Book 2, covers 2021-2023. Between the two books, we have 171 pages with 525 Holiday ornament patterns! So be sure to download both books! This popular eBook was featured in the Holiday 2014 issue of Scroll Saw Woodworking & Crafts (read the article here). Is it really free? Here's how it works. Download the eBook and take a look at what we have to offer. If you decide to keep it, all we ask is that you donate to your favorite charity. You get a ton of great ornament patterns, and you help those in need in return. Remember, this isn't about "buying" an eBook of patterns, it's about giving to a worthy cause. If you don't have a favorite charity, we have listed a number of national (and international) charities below that could use your help. Remember, the purpose is to raise money for those in need. So, please dig deep when donating. Please donate to one of these fine charities or a charity of your choice. Toys for Tots is a program run by the United States Marine Corps Reserve which donates toys to children whose parents cannot afford to buy them gifts for Christmas. By giving to Toys for Tots, you'll bring the magic of Christmas to children in need. The Make-A-Wish Foundation is a non-profit organization that grants wishes to children (2.5 years to 18 years old) who have life-threatening medical conditions. It is a wonderful charity that brings a few moments of joy. Habitat For Humanity is an international, non-governmental, non-profit organization devoted to building simple, decent, and affordable housing for those who would not otherwise be able to afford their own home. A donation to your local food bank will ensure that the hungry will be fed in your own community. Make a difference in your neighbor's life.

    Moto Puzzle

It was the most difficult and most interesting project. It all started with my friend’s request to make his motorcycle out of wood. When I did not find examples of the Internet, I decided to make a toy in the form of a puzzle. The material took a glued pine shield 37 mm thick. It turned out that such a blank does not fit into my scroll saw. After a little alteration of the mounts, everything worked out. At first I just wanted to cut out the fragments and round out the sharp edges a little. I spent one day, but I did not like the result, so I decided to give the puzzle more realistic shapes. I have little experience with woodcarving, so I was very afraid to spoil the model with one careless movement. All the work took about three weeks. Sometimes the work was done quickly, and on some days I just sat and looked at the individual parts and tried to imagine its future form. Of course I didn’t show my friend the whole process of work, but when he saw a photograph of the finished puzzle, he said only one phrase: “Shut up and take my money.”

  17. I was looking a Christmas patterns I have stored and came across a 3D cut of Mr and Mrs Claus, by Diana Thompson. Looked like it would be a fun project because I enjoy doing the 3D cuts. I did modify Mr. Clause some because he was a pretty skinny santa with a short beard. I modified the pattern to try to give him more beard and more belly. Not very successful with the beard, but it you squint your eyes and cross your toes, you might be able to picture it. I had to modify the patten for the arms a little also, following the pattern I could not get the hand coming out the middle of the sleeve. Finally figured out what to change after four tries. So I cut 8 arm to get the four I needed. I had my fun, it was a bit of a challenge and painting something like this is a real challenge for shaky hands me, but well not worth the effort and I would not do them again....

  18. Well all is well but lots of meds to take now.i had no idea what was wrong but the pain was excruciating to say the least. Do I drove to the hospital knowing something big was going on,never thought it was a stroke.i had to rotate my shoulders as much as I could just to endure the pain while driving to the hospital. They put a stent in my heart via a vein in my thigh in minutes once the x-ray or ultra sound came back.BUT the good thing is I was surrounded with females all the time I was in the hospital. I didn't,take names as I,m behind already making names. About a week before this happened I slowed down to just about a stop scrolling. Yep the heart attack was building up.no damage that they know of! Glad to be back!!! Thanks for all the well wishing friends .God never left me!!!! The pharmacist got his name when I fill my meds. Can,t keep a scroller down long!!! He,s vietnames. The font is rage.

    Nothing But Islands

Customer requested a Boba Fett picture. I had to Google to find out who it was. Found a pattern that would work on Etsey. I don't know if you can tell by my picture but it is nothing but islands.......a real pain in the butt to glue and mount.

The Poplar got a dip in mineral oil after being worked over by a Pegas #3 blade. It was a fun cut...I can see how it could become an obsession.

  26. You did all that with just one blade? You will find that blades do no last very long. Once the blade stops cutting like you want it to, it’s time the replace it. Congratulations on all you have done. You are off to a great start!

  33. The bug has bitten The Wooden Teddy Bear is where I get my blades along with other bits and pieces. They have excellent service and get my package to Australia within about a week. Other will have other ideas, but I find they are a one stop shop for a lot of my needs so rather then order from a number of places, they do the job. The Wooden Teddy Bear, Inc.

This year I joined in on a Christmas gift exchange on another wood working forum. I think I am the only scroller on the forum so I told then whom ever received my gift had to realize it will be scrolled...We were only able to use a 1 foot 2" x 4" piece of wood to make the gift. After some thought, I came up with making another 3D cut Nutcracker. I have made 2 before, last year. These things are really fun to make. I am not very good at the painting and each year I get shakier, so it gets harder, but, I did my best. That is all I can do. There is no end to the ways they can be painted and decorated. I have a turner friend that told me the other day that he and his wife use to do a new one each year and the fun part was painting a decorating them. He said they had 10 before she past away. He hasn't done anymore. So here it is. The my 2019 Nutcracker. (last years are in my album on here). The pattern to make these is available, really cheap, from Jeplans.com. I have been communicating with the plan maker, trying to convince to make plans for a santa and maybe an elf. He is thinking about it. P.S. This was made out of a scrap redwood 2 x 4 from some deck repairs I did several yeas ago.... never throw away wood....

    Layered Ornament

I made several of the Steve Good layered manger ornaments as presents. His pattern was for a 4" diameter but I found this too large and made some 3", 2-1/2" and 2" The small one was getting difficult for me to cut but made it through. I stack cut these 4 at a time from 1/8" Baltic Birch ply. The finish was Watco Danish Oil and then either shellac or lacquer.

This is very busy time of year for me and I have limited time for creating new patterns, but there are always those late shoppers that want something custom. This is a great addition to anyone's pattern collection, and this Business in a Box is phenomenal. So simple to use. I made 3 patterns in less than 5 minutes.
