    Wedding Rings

I completed this project yesterday on the new Pegas Scroll Saw. It is a gift for a couple celebrating their 50th. The designer is unknown. I used 1/2" Hard Maple. Cut with Pegas MGT #1 and #7 blades. The finish is two coats spray Shellac. Comments welcome.

    Mini Nativity

Steve Good mini nativities. Made 47 of them to give to each family in our church. My wife helped to put them together. Stack cut 4 at a time out of 1/8” plywood.

  7. For our anniversary (last Saturday the 30th) my wife wanted me to get the Pegas blade clamps I had been wanting. They were in the mailbox when we got back from KC! Thanks Denny for such fast service! I think I saw a video on the installation, so I can install them before we go!

  8. What are we talking about lubing? The upper lever cam mechanism? I would only use a dry lube with Teflon in it.. PB Blaster brand garage door dry lube is what I use on almost everything.. When I had my clamps off.. I took advantage of the access of the bearings and cleaned up the old grease in the needle bearings then applied my high end synthetic grease to them.. As for the lever itself. There is nothing plastic about it in the moving parts.. they have a metal insert in the lever... For what it's worth.. I asked about replacement parts for them and was told yes they have the parts if you ever would need them.. By the way it's made.. It probably would be easier to just replace the whole thing though..That metal insert is quite small and then the little spring and the sleeve for that metal insert looks to me like a lot of very small parts that the spring would send across the shop.. It is a very well made clamp.. I wouldn't knock it just because it has a plastic lever handle.. as it's just a handle.. Take a close look at the lower part of that handle and you'll see the metal insert and all the actual wear parts down there..

    Not for beginners

I got this commission order for this Kleenex box from a very good friend, after she saw a different pattern that I had cut before (tulips) it is from Sue Mey. She wanted roses pattern, well over 320 holes later, here is the finished project. I even double the sides so I cut 2 at once. Will not make money on this, cost of pattern, wood and other material over $25 spent at least 4 hours cutting and I might get $40 for the Kleenex box. We never get rich in this hobby, we make families and friends very happy.

  10. Yeah, just put them on. Be sure the blade is centered at the top and bottom and done!

  11. Over fusing is a problem, it can cause a fire in the wiring. The designers rate the fuse based on the amount of amps (current) going through in normal running, then they add a little for surges. Increasing the amount of amps the fuse will handle before blowing, means it will be allowing too much current to flow, current flowing in wire creates heat, heat melts insulation, at some point it shorts out. arcs & sparks or just the insulation on the wire bursting into flame - neither is good

    Layered dragons

Another papercutting pattern corrupted for scrolling. Seven layers, and I had to order a drill bit small enough to get some of the details pilot-holed, my 1/16 was waaaay too big. Stack-cut this one. 3/8" BB ply, mostly #3 FDUR blades, did the treeline under the big dragon with an 0/2 FD spiral. Still thinking I may play with one of the two and try out an LED strip in front of the back piece. Pattern is from WildChild Designs on Etsy, he's got a lot of great patterns, some quite intricate, but papercutting and scrolling are pretty much the same things, just different mediums. Islands and bridges apply the same for both. https://www.etsy.com/listing/690043666/dragon-fantasy-lightboxlayered?utm_source=internal&utm_campaign=cyber19&ref=cyber_rv-1&pro=1

  13. Nobody has to be concerned about ordering or stocking such a simple thing as a little glass fuse . Every auto parts store carries just about any size and types imaginable and most of them are open seven days a week .Even in my small town one of the is open all day every Sunday .

    Install Pegas Clamps

My Pegas clamps did not come with an "owners manual". The original clamps on my Excalibur I had and the Seyco I now have say to put a small amount of light grease where the lever moves on the top of the clamp. That is a different set up than the Pegas clamp, as Kevin points out.

  15. Just to put a bow on this and to let Bill know that the King and the Excellsior are the exact same saw rebranded and here is the proof. The Vice President of King Corp. was talking. This snipet also explains the origin and trail of all the excalibur saws. I also included the entire link if you want to read the rest. It does explain alot and takes some of the guessing out of these origin of saws. Boy I did alot of homework on a saw that I do not own or even saw. The only Excalibur I tried out was the EX30 when they first came out. I did not like them then and probably still wouldn't like it. I do not even like my Dewalt788. Scroll down to where it says in action. https://scrollsawer.com/2018/03/07/product-review-its-good-to-be-king/

    tree 3d

Not only was this under the tree last year but Santa also added the compressor with it. This spins at 400,000 RPM. I made the mistake and tried one many years ago thinking it was a toy. I have wanted one ever since. The Dremel spins @ 35,000 rpm and a I also have a Ram power carver that spins at 45,000 rpm. Both the Dremel and the Rampower are great tools but can grab and screw up your project. The Vortex is totally controllable. Thinking of my Dremel I have it connected to a foot switch and I heard a loud pop the last time I used it and it is now dead, time to do some surgery to see what got toasted. My Christmas sales pay for all of my tools except the gifts from Santa (aka Wife)

  17. Got mine right away and cut two pieces for my niece and nephew over the weekend. Never used inkscape before, but your video instructions made it very easy to manipulate. Thanks for coming up with this great idea. My one question is: Is there a way in inkscape to change the size when it prints? I just printed them normally and they seemed a little big, so I ran it through the copier at a few different settings and decided that 80% looked the best to me. This work around isn't terrible, but if there was a way to print the original at a different size, that would eliminate the extra printing. Steve.

  28. Definitely lubricate it . I have the owner's manual right in front of me and am typing from it., ********Blade Tension Lever Lubrication.Regularly apply a small amount of white grease or petroleum jelly to the friction point of the blade tension lever to allow for smoother operation. and help extend the life of the lever. Re-apply after every 10 to 15 hours of use or as needed depending on the amount used .******** The original clamps come with a spare lever in a bag because they know damned well you are going to need it even when lubricating them . Stupid design but good for sale of parts. So same thing should apply to Pegasand at the price of those clamps they should be including a few spares. . I use synthetic white grease on mine

  35. Reminds me of back in the day when my buddy kept blowing fuses in his car for the radio he installed.. He got tired of replacing the fuse so he took some aluminum foil and wrapped a fuse with it and put it back in.. said that would be the last fuse he'd have to put in. learn the trick from another buddy that was having taillight issues.. Well needless to say.. it sure was the last fuse ever to be replaced in that car.. within a few hours that car was pretty much burnt to the ground,

  37. Agreed, all are well cut, I'm always partial to the wolves though. on the corner-cat, I've seen a bunch of patterns with cats, has anyone done one with a dragon? I can't find them anywhere, and have a daughter who loves dragons.

    EX 16 Problem?

I had the Motor Cam break into 2 that caused a bad knocking noise. You would know if that's the problem though because the blade would not move up and down.

  49. I built a similar device! mine uses 3/4” pvc, and suction is provided by a surplus Amstel Lamb whole home vac motor. I’m really going to have to take pics to show you guys! i also left my joints all loose to have clean out ability, and it’s great for swinging the pick ups out of the way.
