  2. My son and granddaughter love giraffes so I cut this simple puzzle out for them. The spot “art work” took almost as long as cutting .

  6. Another pattern from the library, posted by Grampa. Started cutting this one this past week, a couple of hours here and there in the evenings after work, and between honeydoo's on the weekend (wife went to bed early last night, so yeah, I was out in the garage after midnight, until I couldn't see which blurry hole I was threading the blade through). 3/8" BB ply, I think these were left over from the multi-layered dragon project I did before Christmas. Regardless, the pieces were big enough that I didn't need to cut them down any. Love it when stuff works out like that!!! All stains are Minwax: backer is "Ebony", eyes are "classic grey" and tiger is "gunstock". Frame (yay.) comes tomorrow.

  7. For those who get Steve Goods emails you know that he is having a contest for $100 from Bear Woods. This is my entry from the land of the beaver. I will probably get disqualified as I did not follow the rules exactly but this was fun to do.

Just finished this sign for my granddaughter. I want to thank Bob ( Spirithorse) for doing the pattern for me. My Granddaughter asked me if I could do the background color pink or purple or blue. I told her I already did it in black which is what I always do, which makes the lettering stand out more. Now I'm thinking if I should try and paint the front one of those colors or leave it the way it is. What do you think.

  17. Using Grampa's pattern as a base, I sat down tonight and cut this out of some plywood. I say base as I had to modify the wheels a bit since I can't seem to not mess up the pattern around the smaller areas when I drill my holes. Threw some shellac over it and will get the clock parts after I return from a work trip to Chicago. Motorcycle Clock Face by Scott Baker, on Flickr

  19. Off for a quick road trip today to pick up my new dust collection system. After much thought & research and discussion here I have bought the Seyco system, https://www.seyco.com/dv-10a-cyclonic-action-scroll-saw-dust-collector/. Had it shipped to the nearest border town. Heading there after breakfast. Should have time to get it hooked up today as well.!!!

    Hi from Michagin

Hi im so glad I found this sight!!! I"ll be 62 in march and iv been doing some sort of wood working since I was in my early 20s. I am not however an expert woodworking... I taught myself how to do wood work of various kinds from books iv read and practice. I recently acquired a lath and im reading on that now. My boy friend helps me with routing. I hope to get my router and table put in my wood shop soon but its not something I need right away as we have a smaller router that my boyfriend uses to rout things for me now. I also recently acquired a lath that im reading up on now and hope to start practicing with soon. And what does a loving man give his lady for valintines day? Why a table saw of course!!! Ha ha Thank you so much for allowing me on the sight. Most of my internet frends just call me Dragon. Proubly because I love them so much and collect them, but if your not comfortable with that my human name is Helen lol

  24. I'll be painting/staining these tomorrow. The patterns came from JGR. I'm cutting all her free intarsia patterns. I had the snowman for weeks and didn't even want to try to cut out the owl, the nose is the size of a baby's little fingernail. There are plenty of things I did wrong on these. I did 2 Santa Bears. All are 1/2 inch plywood. I'm not sure if I should paint them where the grain doesn't show through or what yet. I'm planning on finishing all tomorrow and will post pics when they are done. These are the hardest ones I've tried so far. My husband is getting nervous with all these bears hanging around the house. lol I am thinking to do some wood burning on some of the details. Just wanted to drop in and let you all know I didn't quit scrolling yet.

  28. At home now! Wind was horrible - big cross wind, blowing snow across the highway. Customs guy assumed I was picking it up for my husband, a little tongue tied when I said no it was for me!! At first glance, it looks great, however I guess I thought there was a hose that also collected dust from the top. The vacuum is very quiet compared to the shop vac. I will in the future try to work on something to muffle it even more. We'll see how it works with my DeWalt. Heading down to get it all set up now!

    Third time is charm

Well maybe, this is the third piece of intarsia I have done, this one I am pretty much happy with, still room for improvement, but with luck I might move from apprentice to journeyman sometime soon

    Hello from Ohio

I'm Scott from NE Ohio. I sort of came upon scrolling by chance. My wife saw a DeWalt listed in the newspaper and asked me if it was something I might be interested in. I ended up calling about it and brought it home. The gentleman that sold it to me showed me some incredible work that he had done. So, more projects to be done! I look forward to learning from all of you as I get my new endeavor underway! My first 2 efforts are going to be for my grandsons. It's a learning curve for sure! Looking forward to watching and learning from the craftsmen and women on this board!

  32. to be fair to Bearwoods i though Id throw in my 2 cents - I have delt with them about three times , and each time they treated me fairly. I had one small problem with an order and they took care of it quickly and all is well IMO if you have a problem with them , give them a call -their nice people ( i never email someone about problems when a phone number is available ) of course Id like to know about other Pegas dealers - our members recommend ! 35. Klockit is a good source for clocks and parts.. as is clockparts.com.. and many others such as bearwoods.. etc etc.. there is a long list of clock suppliers out there.. I've bought clocks from most any place I could find and guess what they all have in common? They are the same brand of clocks made by a company in China whom I get my clocks from factory direct.. The only difference is the price from these sellers.. I'm speaking of the clock inserts.. The other thing about all the suppliers is they get the "Cheap" plastic clock cases.. that have the plastic mounting tabs.. Over time those tabs get brittle and weak.. before you know it a tab or two breaks off and you no longer can use the clock as it won't stay mounted in.. I get the high end all metal case.. that has the rubber gasket mount.. They have the seiko PC-21 motor not the cheaper china made motor.. BUT as I said.. I can't afford to buy all the available styles of inserts so if someone is looking for a special style or color other than the one I use.. then you're stuck with ordering from elsewhere and getting the cheap plastic clock.. unless you'd like 500 of them, LOL If you go the movement ( motor with hands ) then the USA made ones are the only way to go and that I'm aware of on those.. they're only available from clockparts site or woodworkingparts site.. 3-4 years ago when I did an extensive research on clocks this was my finding.. That could have changed by now I don't know.. I found my source for what I use and buy bulk direct from the factory..

  42. Being your saw has no resale value and is still working fine I would difinitely find room and continue making sawdust with it. I have a Excallibur 30 that's 20 years old that will outlast me. Like you said, these saws are built like tanks. The saw you have will do everthing a new one will.
