    Family tree finished

Just finished unclamping this family tree this morning. Wasn't sure a pattern could be made of this but Don in Brookline came through again. Thanks Don for being able to do this for me. I hope I gave it justice. THis is a surprise for my granddaughter. Don, I even cut out the little white spots.

    Don’t Worry, Be Happy

What with all of the disquieting news and the market unrest I decided to knock out this Charles Dearing Bob Marley pattern today. 1/4” Baltic Birch, mounted on 3/4” Pine, stained True Black. Bob’s head is free floating by design. Saved the waste piece, his hair, as a guide for placement. I used a mix of flat and spirals on this. I made this about 9”square and his head is just a hair larger than a quarter and cutting the detail was pretty challenging.

  5. Hi everyone. Just wanted to post a pic of this plaque that I just finished. I want to thank Bob (sprithorse) for being able to come up with this pattern. This was all his idea and it worked out great. Thanks again Bob.

  6. had well some day I will learn how to get tI he pictures and words on here properly! lol I do many different kinds of crafts and sometimes I like to combine them together. I went through a time when I was making boxes and I had some wood I wanted to recycle so I decided to make some round boxes. I was also just getting started with the compound cutting, so I decided to incopurated some compound cutting with my boxes and make some pin cousions. I put some doll hair on the ladies and then glued a small piece of wire to one hand and then a piece of cloth to the other so she would look like she was sewing. then I glued the girl to the top edge of the box. Next I cut a some styrafome to shape, covered it with cloth and glued it to t he other side of the top and wal la!! a pincouson was born with a little storage airea for extral pins tape messure or what ever. lol then theres the mini doll bed with doll. I had made several poker boxes an had this bottom part of the box left over so I made a little doll bed with some trim from my sewing trim stash, then I took a small piece of fake fur and my tiney tiny little doll.her hands and face are made from old nylon. lol then back to my small bits of cloth box and a pillow and blanket were made. I glued some yellow felt to the bottom of the box for a mattress. and lastly the little turtle pin cousiion. a friend of mine found this pattern in an old book at the laibary. well of course we just had to make them lol some wood, cloth, felt and trim and we have a baby doll, doll bed mattress and pillow an d blaket.

    Portrait finished

Just finished unclamping this portrait this morning. I want to that Kris Martinson for doing this pattern for me..It was a little tricky to do. I also want to thank Mahendra for also doing a pattern for me. This is 1/4 inch BB about 8 x 10. Just have to give it a few coats of poly and it will be done.

I really like listening to good guitarists, and Chet Atkins was one of my favorites. I found this Dearing pattern, added my own twist with the backing/frame. I shrunk the size down a little, cut the entire thing with Pegas spiral blades, and cut it on my Pegas saw. The little cuts on the guitar were tedious.

  10. This is a little sea turtle box. I had a little sea turtle named spock but I have to give him away. He was getting to big for his aquriem and I couldn't afford to keep buying bigger ones, although I think I would have tried to find different container to him in if it wasn't getting just to hard for me to clean out his aquarem. I had to make sure I had a top over his container what ever it was so ivy our cat couldn't get to him. I miss him terribly but we do what is best for our animal children in the long one. Im sure hes proubly happier in his new home. One of the teachers at the elemantry school took him. He stays in the class room wth all the kids during school and whenschool is out she takes him home where she has several other turtles of varies kinds.lol owl always love you I made because it was cute and I needed stock for me craft boxes. I did this cocatial in memory of my little napolen. This is another reycyled project. i''ll try to find a better picture. Its a gulf ball bird. I cant make to may of these because I don't play golf. lol I just happened to find a small bag of old golf balls at my favorite thrift store and picked them up. my poor spike he looked at me shook his head and said what are you going to do with old golf balls? lol now this little guy wasn't a wood craft project all at!! I got him out of one of my plastic canvas pattern books. lol I didn't have any plastic canvas at the time but I wanted to make this for Halloween so I just redid it into wood lol well that's enough for now i'll add more pics of some kind or another tomorrow. lol now this ghost

I'm off to the show in Chantilly, VA, today. Hope to see some nice wood and a couple of attachments for shop tools. Other than that, I have a padlock on the wallet pocket to keep me from using it too much. anyone else going from this area (PA, MD, VA DC, WV)?

    Double up

Went to Mexico with friends yesterday, so I had to double up on my orders today. Got two cut today, will glue and clamp tomorrow. Then spray with a couple coats of Shellac. Maybe a coat of Lacquer on top. Two down...one more to go. These crosses are selling well, in addition to the puzzle animals, 4 in total so far.

  39. LOL Fedido, I can't do math either. lol We live about 15 minutes from johnsons workbench and I once went in to to fill our a job application. They sort of knew me because Id been going there off and on for years to get supplys. Well anyway they gave me a test to take and I looked at it and if was all math!!! Well I knew right then and there I wasn't going to get a job there. lol So I took the test back in and told them Id changed my mind. Since like I said they sort of knew me they asked why? It seemed to them that this would be a great job for me. When I told them I can't do math they wanted to know well like how much math could I do. Sorry to say I can bairly do first -second grade math. I even have a spical tape measure that has what all those little lines between the numbers means. lol spike made me a wood size gage thingy for me by cutting small squires of wood out of the main woods I work with and wrote down on them what sized wood they are the thickness of them lol I have memorized those so don't have to really look at it anymore. lol Then they asked just HOW did I manage to do woodworking and scrolling with out math? lol befor spike made me the wood gage thingy id just look at the picture of the finished project and then find a piece of wood that looked about like what was In the picture. lol so thanks for shareing now I know im not the only one who has to just sort of wing it when im doing my crafting lol

  40. I would have modified the design to accommodate the additional thickness. Since the 1/2 inch material is probably for the frame. For this type of thickness changes on smaller pieces, I agree with everyone else I would not run plywood through my planer. I am fortunate to have a Supermax 19-38 drum sander with a digital readout.

  41. Thank you Phantom, It ended up gold name and red daredevil. The girls face was enlarged to fit the only body in that skydiver position I could find It's a man's body but with gravity pressing on the suit it passed her expectations from just a photo of her on her desk.My friend took the picture of her desk name and told me how to make this one,The girls face just happened to be in the picture of her name on her desk, what luck!!!

I was totally intimidated by spirals until a couple of months ago. I wish I had used a flat blade on a couple cuts on this one. Dearing patterns are significantly easier and faster with spirals, though I don’t like the “fuzzies” that you don’t get with scroll reverse blades.

Excellent! Shrinking a Charles Dearing pattern shows that you definitely aren't afraid of a challenge. I also envy anyone that can cut with a spiral blade. Thanks for sharing and God Bless! Spirithorse

  49. OK I saw this the other day and thought of Ray here and others who like to take things apart for maintenance. This has to be the best and most simple video of taking the Dewalt apart for doing maintenance. If you want to do this you need to watch this. Breaks things down to the simplest form. great video. This should be put in the library somewhere or on file somehow. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x42jZgEAUwM
