  1. Wolf, 1/2" ply scrap, pattern by Grampa (Pattern Library). Pegas #1MG and a bit of FD #2/0 spiral (had trouble convincing the dang blade to stay in the holder, so I switched back to a regular blade). Not a difficult cut, just....time-consuming. Lots of tiny interior details, I ended up cutting all of the little marks then going back and doing the large pieces afterwards. Top piece is currently stained Ipswitch Pine (lightest I had) and backer is Ebony. Frame will be Ebony when I get a chance to get back into the garage.

    Laugh when you can

Laugh when you can, it’s good medicine. I have no idea where the pattern came from, it has been in my pattern file for years. 1/2” Maple with a Cherry veneer, MDF core plywood backer. I cut two. I finished these several weeks ago. I set them aside waiting for my finish to arrive via mail order. When I went to finish them, they had both warped. I had already posted them on my Etsy store. I removed them from Etsy and stuck them in a drawer. I came back a week later, and they both had flattened out! I sprayed my lacquer and they are both fine now!

    In His Hands

The original drawing I used for my pattern was done from a lady I found on Deviant Art,. JYVONNE-INMANN was a lady who could really draw. She fought cancer for quite awhile and has passed away. Thanks for looking.

    Ace Mechanic

Ok, your car breaks down and the only thing you know about checking your car is kicking the tires. Who ya gonna call? The mechanic, I suppose. You better hope he's an ace. If you have a good mechanic you know, this might be a nice gift to give him. I cut mine from oak and made a similar wood custom cut base. Free pattern

    Laugh when you can

Love it. You did an awesome job. My doctor loves it when I go to see him because I always make him laugh and he says that that is better than any of the pills he hands out. Marg

  9. SSV Nation, I have to wait on more flooring to arrive so I can press on with that (Kept me busy for a bit). I finally was able to make it back into the garage today and made this. Thanks for all who encouraged me as it has almost six months since I started scrolling. Hope you like it and welcome feedback. Hendo

    Paw Puzzle

There's nothing like a puzzle to keep the mind busy. Here's fun little puzzle I'm sure your dog will appreciate. The Paw Puzzle can be cut as a flat puzzle using 1/4" birch ply, or if you want to go thicker, you can make it as a stand up puzzle out of 3/4" wood. In any event I'm sure your Paw Patrol followers will love doing it. Free pattern

Staying away from people had helped me to get a lot done. Both are Steve Good patterns. Thanks for looking and stay safe . Mimi

  12. I have done a lot of pictures and have used flat black poster board on most. I spray the back of the picture like Rusty, but I have never thought of the staples. No matter I have never had one fail... I am trying some felt on the military emblems, like my avatar. Not sure what glue work but I used Weldbond and TItebond Thick and Tacky. Well see how it works.

  13. I am always looking for Intarsia wood - interesting color and grain patterns. Found some plan Hickory I thought would work. Cuts OK, sanding and shaping is a real pain. This week, I felt lazing and just wanted to sit at the saw and cut something. Turns out I LIKE Hickory for shelf sitters, more so than my usual Red Oak.

  14. Two years ago I did't imagine I'd be able to do this kind of scroll saw art. Let me know what you think. Maybe a few suggestions on where I could improve?

    How to cut this

I cut it again with my modified design, posted above, to make the ends a bit beefier. Again since I will never use this, it was a quick fast cut using a piece of scrap Cyprus siding.

    Bad Year

I do not do craft shows, I only sell by word of mouth but I doubt very much if I will get any orders this year, with everyone being out of work, which for me is great, because now I can cut all the patterns I want to cut for myself. That is a win win for me (Glass half full moment) Marg

  24. I did not know a piece that had warped would again go straight on it's own. It turned out really nice and I love this piece. We need to bring some laughter and joy into our lives right now with this virus thing going on around the world Dick heppnerguy

  25. I wanted to send this to my Grandkids and am recutting it using Red Oak and modifying the pattern. There is one place where a wide ear goes down to a little less than 3/16" where it goes into the head and is weak. Another place a leg goes down to 1 /8" where it meets the body. I will widen these out to strengthen them. I also am going to shorten so of the detail cuts in places. It is very cute puzzle!

  26. I haven’t cut it yet but I have the pattern mounted and ready to cut sometime this week. With anything I cut, if necessary, I will adjust as I’m cutting. If something looks fragile, I’ll either not cut it as the pattern says, or cut it differently. I’ve been cutting over twenty years, I know what will be sturdy or not. In my opinion, Aspen is too soft a wood, which will make close cuts fragile.

    Ace Mechanic

Ok, got er finished with an added name. My friend is tall and slim and a part time mechanic.he will like it,Thank you AL!!! I sprayed my laptop with my metal spirits to freshen it up and snapped the photos. There is no place here to even set down a glass of water!!! You see AL , a pattern had to appeal to me and seeing this one the wheels started turning and I pictured what you see!!! Russet stain color on the last two.3/4"oak 10.75" long

  28. I cut it using 3/4" poplar. No problems with it. The ears were not a concern to me, but there are a few cuts deep into some of the bodies that had me concerned. In the end, there were no issues. The hardest part for me were the small eyes. I dropped down to a #1 MGT blade to cut the eyes. Everything else was cut with a #5.

  29. I use black paper. I use spray glue on the back of the piece and then add a few staples to make sure it stays.

    screwy weather too

its been raining/drizzling for the past week, and the temp dropped too. So I, as the wife says, "Piddled in the shop" some Saw this S Good pattern and thought how true, changed it from a shelf sitter though

  32. I don’t stain! For most projects, I use hardwoods. I pick hardwoods that have grain that will pop when I apply oil. For portraits, I use BB without stain. I will either us a hardwood veneer plywood or a painted BB backer. If i paint the backer, I use a flat spray paint. I’ll paint the backer at least a week before I mount it to let the paint cure. Then once cured, I will glue the backer to the portrait with Aleen’s tacky glue. I do the same when I use hardwoods. After the glue is dry, I soak the items in my 50/50 mix of boiled linseed oil and mineral spirits. Then after the oil dries, I’ll top coat the item with Deft semi gloss spray lacquer. Occasionally, I’ll stain a backer using the same process.

  33. Yep. If I were to do it again, I'd use thinner wood and stack cut it, but it was what I had on hand.
