  1. Here is my latest scroll saw wood art piece. Street Musicians in New Orleans(?). 11" x 14" This one took a LONG time to cut. From a painting by John Carroll Doyle called "Maintaining The Soul".

  2. Have not cut too much lately. Rather chilly and don't care to heat the shop and been busy with a dust collector. Today my wife moved her snow shovels out of the way so I could get out my table saw. I can't do everything! Anyway I cut up a little piece of 1/2" plywood to saw. I seldom cut plywood except for BB but I had forgotten how nicely it cut. Even construction plywood can have some interesting grain. I cut this with a #3 Pmg blade. No finish. That will happen during warm weather outside.

  3. On March 20 I said I was asked to make a set for a homeless mission for veterans. I had already did a set about six years ago. Made these out of white oak an black walnut. Dipped in 50/50 mixture of BLO coated with satin lacquer As I said don’t mean to rain on Paul’s parade by showing mine. Mine aren’t up to his level LOL PS cut using #3 pegas MG an #1 FD new spirals on the rope

  4. This didnt look too overwhelming when I got the pattern, but it turned out a lot harder than it looks. Nonetheless, it is the first thing I have cut that I intend to keep for myself. It's going out on the front porch..... Pattern available at scrolleronline.

  5. I recently purchased a miniature dust collector. Octoolguy aka Ray made me aware of it. We both ordered one. The attached photo shows it in a plastic form. The ones we got were cast aluminum which are no longer available. I forget the measurements but the unit is like seven inches tall. I placed it in an Oggi container also available from Amazon. The thing is there are no complicated connections. The hoses are from my cpap machine. The are replaces every so often. They are also available from Amazon for $5.99 for a ten foot hose. The two orifices on the DC are one inch which is exactly the same size as the hose end. The slips in easily and firmly. The PVC fittings are just one inch pipe and fittings. It is sort of plug 'n play. The vacuum source is a very noisy Oreck hand vacuum and the dust collection is spectacular. Both on top and bottom. The photo next to the last is an old photo and shows one side capped which is no longer the case.

  7. Ok. I'm making use of my social distancing time. Here's another fun project you can do for your kids or your grandkids. I've come up with a simple pattern that you can compound cut from various woods (I used a section from a 2 x 4). After you cut this you will have a little top or spinner that works pretty good. I also cut some from purple heart and torrified ash. I've even made a little video to go along with the pattern here. You can see how I set up the pattern for cutting and how you can cut this little toy on the scroll saw. The video is here on YouTube. Free Pattern

    Heart Trivet

The pattern is by Sue Mey. I used 1/2" Eastern Red Cedar. It cut smooth, but I found it very fragile. It cracked in two places, so I had to glue. We will use it as a wall hanging rather than a trivet. I cut it on the Pegas Scroll Saw using Pegas #3 MGT blades. Comments welcome.

  10. Some things I've done while at home. The first one is a kazoo to serenade the LOML . Got the idea from an article at the Instructible web site. The second is a phone/tablet stand I made for her also. The last one is a phone stand I made for myself. It is a Steve Good pattern, and I will be carrying it in my wallet. The cat stand is 1/4" BB and the other two are made out of 1/8" BB plywood. The cat stand is painted black and the other two have a walnut oil finish. Tom.l

  11. Hello everyone! I'm John and I'm a newbie at this forum. I like woodworking and DIY, and that's why I've decided to join this communuty. Glad to be a new member! Besides woodworking, I like watching movies, reading books, cooking and playing outside (cornhole, pickleball, badminton, etc). Nice to meet you all here. Have a great day! P.S. Stay safe and don't forget to wash your hands

  13. I like the idea of the hose from a cpap machine. I have wanted to try to get an upper hose on my new dust collection system. Of course with the lock down, I don't think I need to run to the hardware store to get a "y" connector hose. It can wait until the fall.

  24. Howdy folks! I'm Steve. I recently became a member and I would like to introduce myself. I've been looking around on the fourm for awhile and liked what I've found so much that I wanted to join up. I live in Texas, just outside Waco. I call my woodshop Cross Timbers Wood Crafts. I've been a woodworker for a long time but I didn't start scrolling until 2016. I've still got a long way to go before I can call myself an accomplished scroller, but I'm learing as I go. I wish I'd found this fourm back in 2016. My first scroll saw was an old Delta. It was difficult to change blades and vibrated so bad that I didn't want to use it. So I bought a DeWalt 788 (which I promptly renamed Lemon 788). It had problems right out of the box. There was always something wrong with it. I know there's many who like the 788, I guess I just got a bad one. Now I have a Seyco ST-21, and I must say that my cutting has improved with the Seyco. I just need more time on it. Well, now that you know a little about me, I'm looking forward to getting to know y'all and be part of the group.
