  1. My youngest daughter got married last month and my wife reminded me that I had not made them a wedding plaque. OH, my. I went to the computer and pulled up this Sue Mey pattern and went to my shop and put it in my 'top priority' projects. I got it mailed off this morning. So glad my wife reminded me when she did Dick heppnerguy

  2. I recently purchased a scroll saw and was awed by some of the wonderful works people created. Some were from photographs of people, wild animals et. al. So, i decided to give it a try. My sister sent be an adorable picture of her grandchild -- I used it as a trial piece. It worked out fairly well, so I framed it and sent it to her. She just received it and was thrilled. The mom instantly recognized her daughter. It made my quarantined day! The original is also included.

  4. With the isolation going on I have lots of time to do new things. 4 layer Happy Easter sign - design and the cutting by me, background painting by me the cute bunnies by my wife. If doing again I would make a couple of changes. Size 10 x 20

    Nurses Cross

Kathy Wise made this Intarsia pattern available for free. I modified to segmentation of the purple heart part. It's going to the oncology unit, where my daughter works. White Oak and Purple Heart.

    Rothenburg

Many years ago my wife and I visited Rothenburg ob der Tauber. It is one of the most scenic and historic walled cities in Germany. The view is of the Rotor Tor (gate) and we had the opportunity to walk around the top of whole wall. It's a magical place full of timber frame houses and interesting shops. It' a project I had thought about doing for a long time. I started the design 12/17 and didn't start the cutting until 3/7. I gave myself some time to work on it and had to walk away a few times. There were a lot of holes! Things were kind of fragile too. Keeping pieces in place helped retain the strength until I was finished. Love Blue Tape!! I finished it today. Dimension is 17 x 12 on BBPW. Finish is Semi-gloss lacquer and I made a custom frame to fit. I must say that it was one of my most challenging scroll saw projects but I'm glad I did it.

  7. As I am a healthcare worker, time away from the hospital is very valuable. This is the only thing I’ve cut, one of Steve’s latest patterns. I got a friend with the last name of Swann so I’ll send this to them.

  9. Anyone can make perfect things with a laser but only a dedicated person can make beautiful things by hand. If it was all about selling things for the money, then who cares. I don't do craft shows because, for me, it looses the feeling of gratification when I am asked to make something for someone, because they have seen what I have made and would like to have one for themselves or a friend. Luckily for me, they are not into scrolling themselves so they aren't able to compare my mediocre work with that of such great scrollers like we have here in The Village Dick heppnerguy

  12. My local supplier and Kevin's is closed for a least two weeks. LLJOHNSONS Workbench. They were doing a pickup only until Michigan went on stay at home order. I missed getting some Baltic Birch by a few days. Now I have to wait awhile, still have plenty of hardwood. Looks I will be doing a lot of resawing.

That's it!! My brain was not coming up with intersecting word art. Have not done any for a while and want to do a couple. Like my dad always said "getting old, sort of sucks!" Thanks again for the reminder.

  17. Because of the issues I have with my neck I rarely get to do scrollsawing. I have turned to other crafts/hobbies that are not so straining on my neck. I have many, many hobbies to keep me busy during this time so all is well. Yesterday we needs some groceries. Do NOT want to go into any stores we ordered our groceries on line from Walmart. They shopped for our requested groceries, bagged them and brought them out to our car and loaded them into our car. We were able to get what we needed and not endanger our health. Kudo's to Walmart.

  19. I've fortunately been able to spend some time in the workshop. I'm doing a series of this type to include a zebra and an elephant. Hopefully this is the first of many. Mt wife is busy making masks and they've been a huge hit.

  20. I have started to attempt things that I have not tried before and am unsure of. The first on my list is to master the use of epoxy with scroll sawn objects. I started this a couple of weeks ago and am documenting my successes and failures in the thread: In the meantime, here is a photo of my latest experiment which is currently underway: When (not if) I finally succeed, I will insert a photo of that project here: xxxxxxx

Nice job.. I have a neighbor who owns a Vette and I know he would like this one too. I just might check out Sam's page and download it. Be sure and let Sam know you made it and send him a photo of it. He likes to post them when someone cuts one of his patterns Dick heppnerguy

    Had fun with this one

Roughly 8x10 inches I used golden oak stain on aspen for the beak The leaves are aspen, and I mixed green and red acrylic to get a soft muddy green and then water to make it more of a wipe than a paint.

  47. Ray, I have always used 1/8" and 1/4" for scrolling. I only use 1/2" or 3/4" for making jigs or cabinet or something like that...

  48. thanks!! first i'll just look and dream about getting one as im sure there proubly more money then I can afford lol might have to make a cnc envelope and see how fast I can save for such a great toy !! explation for the envelop.... my mom taught me this system because im so bad at math.... for each bill I have I have an envelope on the envelope first mom and then spike wrote how much money out of my check I need to put into each envelope... that way when the bill comes due I know I have enough money to pay the bills..lol most of the time I have a little left over.....so i'll have to start a cnc envelope and see how long it takes me to get up that much money! lol but all things come to those who wait... I keep telling myself that as I save for the things I want...I don't like it but it works. lol that's how I got my baby lock sewing machine and my baby lock emboridy sewing machine. not the most expensive one of course but not the cheapest either...spike talked to the guy and they figured out which one would be best for me and my budget. lol i'll do the same thing for this....if we both live long enough for me to save up the money!! lol
