  4. I made the Charles Dearing Bob Marley pattern a while back encased in a cannabis leaf. Per a request I did a 2nd one, but without the leaf. BTW, I wish that I could say that I have been more productive during these troubled times, but the opposite is true. Can’t seem to stick to task. Our town has been declared a Covid -19 “hot spot” by our governor, too many getting sick. You all please stay safe!

  6. Thanks to @Kris Martinson for a great pattern. I tweaked it a bit. My son is a big Bob Dylan fan so it's going to him. The wood is 3/8" White Oak and the backer is Monkey Pod. It's about 6" X 8".

    Yew Duck.

Yew is one of my favourite woods. Beautiful to look at and easy to cut or turn. A simple pattern.

  9. Well it's been the longest time I have been off work in 40 years. Yet I have enjoyed scroll sawing my grandkids names out in walnut and maple laminated. Finished up the resawing of Red Oak logs into lumber waxed the ends and stickered them. Finished up 8 thresh holds with oak on floor coverings. Cut out a Ranger Derby car. Replaced 20 picket fence slats. Washed the cargo trailer and have not visited a store, gas station or another building in 4 weeks. WOW! Posted a picture of the Bandsaw Resaw Sled. I have 3 more 4' long logs to resaw sometime soon. Will be glad when we get past this hunkering down.

  11. Iguanadon posted the Bear Pile pattern from Harvey Byler and it was really interesting. I cut that one and and the Bunny pile and sent them to my Grandkids. They really like them. And then, Don in Brooklin did something interesting in making a couple of the Bears in the Bear pile taller so they stood out. That was a very good idea and decided I needed to try it. I took some 3/4" Cherry and glued some 3/16" thick oak to the back of it. I cut both the Dog Pile and the Bunny Pile. After I cut a couple of pieces from each puzzle, I sent the remaining pieces through a drum sander and reduced the thickness of the rest of the pieces by about 1/8" and cut the rest of the pieces out. I then rough shaped the the pieces using a Dremel tool . After this I used strips of sandpaper to smooth out the rough cuts and bring out the details. I use regular sandpaper with packing tape on the back and cut to narrow strips. I also us cloth backed sandpaper. This is how the final puzzles look I make trays for the puzzles from a 1/2" Piece of Baltic Birch on top with a cut out and 1/4" Baltic Birch on the back. The trays make it easy for the Grandkids to put the puzzles away and not lose any pieces.

    Toilet paper sign

Hi everyone. Just finished these today. I stacked cut three of them out on 1/8 BB with a 1/4 inch BB backer. There about 5x7. I want to thank Russell for knocking out this pattern for me in record time. Just have to put a finish on them. Thanks again, Russell.

  13. Here's a nice little sign you might like to cut for yourself. Makes a nice hanging sign, but it can also be used as a wall or door sign. Might also make a nice gift for a woodworking friend. It's about 10" wide and about 8" tall. I cut mine from a scrap piece of 1/2" plywood and added a plane cut from Padauk. I made a brief video showing some of the process I used in designing and making this sign. You can view it on my YouTube channel Free Pattern

  14. I just found this on a FB scrolling site. Looks like something to do that's out of the norm. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hcEP0OAl7QI&fbclid=IwAR1GN4MZUlAZA5iEBqHKuOSLwcA9pUGI2wFdOvwrc6EQ7Hv5yrBwLfDNM30

  15. Just so happens, I I'm between projects and wanted something to take up a little time so: Al Beggeta's (sp?) pencil bunny. I saved the outside. People always ask, "How do you do that?" So I saved it to show people.

    Just griping

The first one is what I found on Bing with the link to their site. That's how I found it. The second is the picture I took on my Iphone and sent to my wife. You can still find the first one searching on Bing with their website on it and go from there. I did and also found it's gone now. I had sent them an e mail and they took it off really fast. All within a half hour. I didn't get a response in my personal home email though. I suggested they donate the money they have made off of it to families of those they have lost to coronavirus, I didn't get a response to that either. I hope they remember they will stand in front of the man in the middle of the picture someday.

  23. A very humbling group of projects that everyone is doing. I've departed from scrollsawing a bit and am on a major restoration and refinishing of all our old furniture - (started long before the coronovirus crisis started) - the project on the go now is our dining room set - it's claim to fame is that we purchased it as an "antique" at the beginning of our marriage - we married in 1973 and think the set was probably made somewhere around 1920 - 1930 (ish) - in our almost 50 years of marriage since we've added a whole lot more "patina" - and decades of family memories. So far have the table is done - 3 chairs now on the go - all at different stages - after the chairs (6 of them) are done - then the hutch - and then manufacturing leaves for the table that disappeared long before we ever acquired the set. This project has introduced me to the world of HVLP spraying - not a tool I have ever used before - and - so far - a tool that I am having a tough time mastering ..... The work so far .... (chairs and hutch not yet started in these pictures) . Jay (EDIT: not sure why my pictures aren't showing up properly - they seem to be changing format from a JPEG to a JFIF file on their own when I try to attach them - no idea why .... so if you can't see them you'll just have to imagine they look GREAT!!)

  25. No, it's made up of a gum type of rubber that pulls the dust out of the grit. I have seen them used on belts and they seem to work. I have a piece of Corian that was a scrap from when our home was built. I tape full sheets of paper to it for large pieces. I have been known to vacuum the dust out of the paper. I'm cheap.

They at least took it off their website. People who do that could at least give people credit. This happened to Steve Good awhile back.

    Diablo Sanding Disc

I use Klingspor Good disks and get great life. I do not try to get a long time out of them and change when they stop sanding as well. A disk that you use a long time changes and sands like what a higher number would sand. If I use a 220 for a long time, it eNds like a 320. I use a Festool sander because of vibration, ergonomics and dust collection. Yes, it is pricey but those three things are more important.

    Diablo Sanding Disc

The hook and loop wears out before the grit does. Currently I only have one sander so I have to swap the sanding disks to change grits. I have sanders on order so I can have one sander per grit.

  33. I use a Bosch R/O sander.. I buy the refurbished ones.. I'll say though.. just checked this link and the price has jumped up considerably.. many times they're on sale etc for about $35.. I have two of them.. and the first one is about 10 years old.. and had a lot of use.. https://www.cpooutlets.com/factory-reconditioned-bosch-ros20vsc-rt-5-in.--vs-palm-random-orbit-sander-kit-with-canvas-carrying-bag/bshrros20vsc-rt.html
