Simulated War Cannon Model Patterns and Instructions
frankorona and 2 others reacted to baggetta for a topic
"Cannon to the right of them Cannon to the left of them Cannon in front of them Volleyed and thundered; Stormed at with shot and shell...." Every school child was bombarded with these poetry lines by Tennyson in school. The power of the military cannon was most important in war times past. Thought I would try to replicate a model of the old war cannons -- or at least come close. Here's my stab at it. I cut the cannon itself from a piece of 2 x 4 cut to size so that I could do a compound cut using my scroll saw. The wheels were also cut on the scroll saw and attached with a dowel to a platform, to which the cannon is glued. Well I won't go into detail, because it's all in the free pattern sheets.3 points -

well for me life is no different now then it has been, agoraphobic people seldom if ever leave there homes. I guess I can count that as one thing if the only thing about being agoraphobic lol but since you asked for pictures of what every one is doing during this time I figured I put up some of the projects im working on right now. im scrolling the birds in a bird cage from steve good you will notice I changed it a little bit and put a second food dish in the middle piece im also making the mutts need love to pattern from steve im doing two more of steves patterns the hocky stick people and the stick people band. my oldest daughter and her husband are into hocky and I believe I already told you about my memories as a child of everyone getting together in our little Livingroom playing gitars and singing so im making that too. Im going to try to take some face pictures of my daughter and her husband and put them ito the hocky players and then im goig to go through my photo albums and get picts of me and my siblings to put into the band people s faces. of course there were like 10 kids and and at least 6 adults in our living room back then but I can't get all those people as stick people lol and of course theres the letter openers that I still have to finish. and theres a couple of pic s of my scroll saw with what I was cutting out before I came in to watch my tv shouw lo that's the wood projects...asides from that I to am making masks to give to people. and last but not least I am crocheting a granny square sweater jackit for me!! its been years since iv seen a pattern for this!! im still looking for a granny square maxi skirt. lol these were real popular when I was young ! lol I guess im still a product of my youth lol … funny thing is as young people spike and I would never have gotten together... besides the fact that hes 11 years older then me and would have been a child molester when we were young I was a hippy dippy flower girl and he was part of the establishment. lol he was in ROTC and looking to go into the services and the like. but the tumer in his face left him blind in one eye so he couldn't . I also have the 2 bull dog tooth pick holders cut out waiting for me to start carving on them and a ton of plastic bags waiting for me to turn them into plarn lol next time I ll put up a picture of the girl graduate I made that is just waiting for me to put a picture of my youngest daughters face into as she graduates collage this month. sorry theres so many pictures but you wanted to see the projects were all doing right now. lol looking forward to seeing what every body else is up to3 points -

It's been a while since I posted anything here, so here goes: My youngest daughter is a real sports nut and collects all sorts of memorabilia. She asked if I could make a shelf to hold her bobblehead collection (I had recently made a shelf for her hockey pucks.) I looked around the Web and found a shelf in Steve Good's catalog and adapted it to the sports theme, replacing a girl and flower scene with hockey, football, baseball and basketball players. Not quite finished; this is a dry fit.2 points -
Dust Collection Again
Crosstimbers and one other reacted to Wilson142 for a topic
I cut mostly fretwork and I check the vac occasionally to see if it gets hot. Doesn't seem to be a problem. I don't know if the constant on and off will take it's toll. I think it came with a 2 yr warranty but even at $100, if I get a year out of it, it's worth $8.33 per month to me with how well it catches the fine dust.2 points -

Hawk motor

Thanks for the offer, as of now the 220 is purring like a kitten. I had a dewalt type 1 from Canada that was good until Florence, I repaired it put new bearings in motor then the circuit board quit so I got a Delta which was no where the quality of the dewalt , I picked up this 220vs hawk and am pretty pleased with it. They all seem to have some good features but all different. I probably have about 30 hours running the hawk and find I have much better control cutting small letters. Bob2 points -
I Love This piece of wood
frankorona reacted to cashew for a topic
I am in love with this wood. It's called Black Limba and when I saw it I had a thought (usually a dangerous thing). But it worked!! This is also my second attempt at angle cutting on my scroll saw (the first is the plywood trial in the pics -- a disaster). My first I cut in the wrong direction. The design is also my own, I think, but after all the pics I looked through prepping for this - who knows1 point -

Mine came with the outlet, works well! I may change my upper pickup nozzle from round to something closer to the pickup on the bottom. That one is like a flattened oval.1 point

I have bought 2 MetroVacs on eBay and got one for under $50 plus tax and free shipping. When I set mine up I'm going to use a double outlet on my foot switch to activate both saw and vac so it doesn't run constantly.1 point -

Well to be honest I only subscribed to the Scroll Saw magazine by Fox publishing for a couple years.. My favorite one was the Creative Woodworks & Crafts.. I'm guessing it was in one of those.. But I was a subscriber to them from 06 - when they went out of business..1 point

Great job Marg!! I made one of Big Foot and my wife uses it a lot. I have a bunch of other patterns too. I'll bet they would sell well at shows...think I'll start making them! Is that 1/4" square dowel on the base? Nice idea making the piece a different wood or color stain from the base!1 point -

Not "Absolut". I only drink the cheap stuff. I found out many years ago that I can reach a level of drunkenness just as quick with the cheap stuff. Thunderbird, Boone's Farm. It all results in me driving the porceline bus. Anyway I hope this helps.1 point -

I posted a reference to one project earlier in this thread but there is another one I am now engaged in that is closer to the spirit of 'we are all in this together' that the pandemic is encouraging in most of us. That project is to create then mail simulated sunsets on Lake Pivabiska to may friends: I talk abut the project in the thread:1 point -
I'm gonna open the nozzle to 1/2" tonight and see how it affects the noise and suction. Slot machines? Is that for when some of the ladies can't get to bingo? A liile patio casino?1 point
