    BOTAS motorcycle

Been wanting to do this a long time. And next time it will be bigger. This baby,s a full 16.5" x 10.5/8" in 1/4" 3 ply plywood cabinet backer I found or salvaged. I spent a lot of time sanding and detailing but the finish coat raised all the slivers everywhere.cut with FDScroll reverse #3 blade. Good practise piece. I spent my extra time in 3 or 4 days and cut till tired. Rattle can primer & top coat.

  3. I thought I'd combine an inlay with a bit of scroll-sawing -- this is the result. The design was repurposed from a Steve Good pattern, and the inlay was inspired by my wife's new crocheting product — a red squirrel (https://irresistiblecreatures.com/) which is also below.

    Scrolling Chair

Got this chair from Amazon about two years ago and it’s been great. Adjusts low enough to have your feet flat on the ground and as high as 34”. The foot rest is adjustable as well as the back. The seat is very comfortable as well as the back. The wheels move smoothly along the concrete floor and the rubber floor mats.

  5. Mother's Day is just around the corner and I have just the gift you can cut for her -- a nice thick MOTHER puzzle. This would look great displayed on a shelf or table, and it's fun to play with too. I cut mine out of 3/4" cherry and coated it with a clear spray. Sure to make mother smile. I would contact the seller and ask for a replacement. If the seller is worth their salt they should replace them no questions asked. If not, find a new seller to do business with.

  7. I have been working on a lantern. Posted under "another something new" so I won't post here. Also been cutting 22 , only 6 so far, of the 10 piece flower puzzle that Al Baggetta posted http://www.baggetta.com/pebooks/Free_CountUpToSpring/Count Up To Spring Flower Pattern.pdf These were going to be "Count down to Mother's Day" puzzles. My daughter is a teacher and I thought these would be great for her class to decorate and then give to their mom's. Covid got in the way. I also did this balloon as something to do that didn't require a great deal of thinking!!

  8. I saw this pattern by @Fish when I first joined SSV and have been wanting to cut it. I like smaller portraits so I just did from the elbows up because things were too small with his whole body in a small piece of wood. It's cut in 5/8" quarter sawn red oak, and is 7 3/4" X 7 3/4". I saw that you did another pattern with his left ear Dan but I preferred this one since it looks so much like the original picture. I used black canvas material for the backer. Thanks for a great pattern Dan.

    Pattern question

I did some searching with google and found a lot of them but mostly they were Corel Draw files. Then I tried adding the file extension I preferred to my search (svg) and that worked well. I snagged a 3d Puzzle for an F-18 I want to try.

The Ultra Reverse ( UR ) blades used to be my go to blade.. after trying Pegas I kinda slowed up on the use of them.. Have several gross and do use them still but I haven't ordered any new blades since early fall last year.. Starting to get a little low on them and have contemplated just fully switching to the Pegas.. In the past I've gotten some bad batches.. both in FD and Pegas so it's just the luck of the draw sometimes.. but most times they are happy to replace if there is a issue.. You might contact your supplier and ask about it.. maybe a known problem.. and they maybe replacing them for those that call and complain etc.. as it does happen from time to time with all the suppliers.. If there is a known issue.. please report back to inform others.. These companies and distributors do not go calling all their customers etc or it doesn't made the news like with a car recall or food recalls etc.. so it's up to us to spread the word around to the scroll saw clubs groups etc so we all know to be on the lookout of bad blades..

  11. Wow Wow Wow! Everybody's been keeping busy, it looks like! Hope everyone is well; been a lifetime since I've been here (sorry to say) part of the reason being, ahem... (I forgot my password and sign-in and couldn't find them) lol Exciting news since my absence, I've gotten a new workshop/shed built; (new one is 16x24) this was built last year, and have been gradually been getting it completed. Last fall I had the electric installed, and over the last few months, the insulation and walls have started to go up, and Ken started to paint the walls today (with paint we had at the house) I was sent home Mar 23 and have been home since. Here's a few things Ken and I have done, starting with a Amazon knockoff of a curtain rod bracket, some Easter outdoor and indoor decorations, a giant Spring Tulip, my Christmas Show signs, ring dishes, tablet stands (Steve Good design) and an accent wall in our living room I've been wanting to do for at least three years. In the Christmas Show picture, I had some eye glass holders. They sold like crazy! As did the rabbit egg holders this spring. That pattern came from thingiverse.com, and I took it to a 2D pattern; cutting it to fit different sized eggs. The smallest being the Cadbury Egg holder. I need to work with it for next year, since I still have approximately 50 eggs to get rid of lol

  13. Something for the motor heads in the group. Admin If the topic is deemed inappropriate feel free to delete it. Between making saw dust I have been fulfilling another bucket list item. My workshop is full of the tools that I wanted and needed. So the profits from my sales had nowhere to go but burn out the bottom of my pockets. After 49 years of owning my Brit sorts car (TVR) It was time to get the motor tweaked. Completely rebuilt and properly tuned on a Dyno. All I need to do is bolt it back in after I clean up the engine bay and chassis. Went from about 90 HP to 148 HP in a 1700 pound car, should be fun. It is a 4 cylinder Ford 1.6 Liter now 1.7 Liter. The motor is hanging in my garage while I wait for the weather to warm up a bit so I can work on it outside, some wiring to do and my garage is too narrow for me to work around the car. The carburetors had been in a box in my basement for at least 30+ years.

  14. I have run into that problem with the UR #5 and for what ever reason that blade has always been that way when ever I have ordered them in that it will not track straight where as all of the rest of the UR's ,for me anyways, will track straighter than the regular reverse blades. I very seldom have need for that size as I normally use #1's and 3's. Any thick woods, 3/4 inch or thicker, I go to #7 or to the Pegas MG blade. Erv

  15. I'm posting this here but if it needs to go somewhere else, please move it. I came across this advertisement for a laser cut model kit but I want to try making it on a scroll saw. Have any of you folks ever done this or even attempted it? I'm wondering if there are paper plans for this or something similar available. I've been doing a little bit of searching but so far I haven't found one like this. I was thinking it might be a project that could be worked on in between other stuff. A project to take your mind off of whatever you've been working on. And furthermore, I love trains.

UR indicates Ultra Reverse. These are Flying Dutchman or Niqua blades. I use these blades everyday and have not had a problem. Any chance you had the blade upside down? My blades are several months old. How old are yours? I should be getting a supply tomorrow. I’ll check them out and see how they work when they arrive.

    Pattern question

You might try searching for these terms.. "Train laser cut files" or "train dxf files" or vector files.. CNC files etc etc.. Now.. I will say some of these take a program to get them to open.. especially the DXF files.. Many of the car clock and even some of the other items I make and sell are actually CNC dxf type files that I've bought and modified to work for my needs.. Now that I post these tips.. I'm going to go search some of my bookmarked sites for these cnc type files.. In the cnc world we don't call them patterns as they are files that you upload to the cnc or to a thumb drive to the cnc etc.. but if you can get a program to open them ( sometimes just screen shots from your computer screen ) then you can print them out as patterns, LOL

    Scrolling Chair

I built a very low stand for my EX and I found an old office chair at one of the lots after they cleared the mobile home out. I brought it home and cleaned it up and at it's uppermost position, it's perfect. And I left the arms on it. I guess it all depends on the height of your saw. You might make a trip to Staples of Office Depot and sit in their office chairs. I see used chairs on Facebook Marketplace all the time for free on up. Never very much.

  28. It's been a while since I posted anything here, so here goes: My youngest daughter is a real sports nut and collects all sorts of memorabilia. She asked if I could make a shelf to hold her bobblehead collection (I had recently made a shelf for her hockey pucks.) I looked around the Web and found a shelf in Steve Good's catalog and adapted it to the sports theme, replacing a girl and flower scene with hockey, football, baseball and basketball players. Not quite finished; this is a dry fit.

  30. well for me life is no different now then it has been, agoraphobic people seldom if ever leave there homes. I guess I can count that as one thing if the only thing about being agoraphobic lol but since you asked for pictures of what every one is doing during this time I figured I put up some of the projects im working on right now. im scrolling the birds in a bird cage from steve good you will notice I changed it a little bit and put a second food dish in the middle piece im also making the mutts need love to pattern from steve im doing two more of steves patterns the hocky stick people and the stick people band. my oldest daughter and her husband are into hocky and I believe I already told you about my memories as a child of everyone getting together in our little Livingroom playing gitars and singing so im making that too. Im going to try to take some face pictures of my daughter and her husband and put them ito the hocky players and then im goig to go through my photo albums and get picts of me and my siblings to put into the band people s faces. of course there were like 10 kids and and at least 6 adults in our living room back then but I can't get all those people as stick people lol and of course theres the letter openers that I still have to finish. and theres a couple of pic s of my scroll saw with what I was cutting out before I came in to watch my tv shouw lo that's the wood projects...asides from that I to am making masks to give to people. and last but not least I am crocheting a granny square sweater jackit for me!! its been years since iv seen a pattern for this!! im still looking for a granny square maxi skirt. lol these were real popular when I was young ! lol I guess im still a product of my youth lol … funny thing is as young people spike and I would never have gotten together... besides the fact that hes 11 years older then me and would have been a child molester when we were young I was a hippy dippy flower girl and he was part of the establishment. lol he was in ROTC and looking to go into the services and the like. but the tumer in his face left him blind in one eye so he couldn't . I also have the 2 bull dog tooth pick holders cut out waiting for me to start carving on them and a ton of plastic bags waiting for me to turn them into plarn lol next time I ll put up a picture of the girl graduate I made that is just waiting for me to put a picture of my youngest daughters face into as she graduates collage this month. sorry theres so many pictures but you wanted to see the projects were all doing right now. lol looking forward to seeing what every body else is up to

  31. In the past few weeks, three projects have been completed -- one was a scroll-saw bench, one a portrait of my daughter and her husband, and a non-scrolled chest of drawers. 34. Great projects! As many of you know, my wife and I have had some really severe health problems and now problems with the insurance company so, I haven't scrolled much. Thanks to all those that have offered their prayers and a special thanks to two members here that I reached out to, to cry on their shoulders. Their prayers, their concern, and just letting me vent is greatly appreciated. Anyone that wants to take time to offer their prayers for my family would also be appreciated. I finally decided that since Judy Gale Roberts was kind enough to offer her Nurse Teddy Bear intarsia pattern FREE to help scrollers recognize nurses during these sad times I accomplished three of the bears. I have two nieces that are nurses and one sister that is a nurse so, they will receive these when I can deliver them. This photo was taken while they are still laying on wax paper with the first coat of polyurethane on them. God Bless! Spirithorse

  35. I have done a number of scroll projects that I put in the bragging section - Happy Easter, Bear Walk, and more Bear Walk. But different for me in this time of isolation, I dusted off the lathe and participated in some club projects. Wig Stands for Cancer Patients - have done lots of these in the past and have got 3 done for this drive. Have wood for 2 more. Also, I am going to donate 5 pens for Health Care Workers. Haven't done a pen in a couple years. These are slim lines with a RN in clips.

  36. These are the projects I've worked on, and am working on, during this unfathomable period of time. The 3D-compound project was made with Mendocino redwood slats glued together; the bookends are not completed as they need to be glued and stained; the "Daddy's Hand" is for my son who's newborn boy spent the first two months of his life in the hospital; and the rocking reindeer is half inch baltic birch plywood with three different finishes (rubbed grey paint, medium walnut Danish Oil, and mahogany stain).

I received my shipment of FD blades today. The first thing I noticed is on the #5, the crimp is not visible, however I could feel the crimp. I installed the #5 in my saw and tensioned it up. I took a scrap piece of 3/4” Mahogany and drew a 1 1/2” circle. A circle is the hardest thing for me to cut accurately. The blade cut exactly as I expected it too. It tracked perfectly. No problems whatsoever !

  48. Well, I haven't really completed any scroll saw projects yet. I've been working a little bit out there, but not a lot. First, I had both of my eyes lenses replaced in the couple weeks just before the pandemic shut everything down (think same surgery as for cataracts, but without the cataracts). Was having my one week checkup on my second eye about the time they started slowly shutting many things down. As a result, I have been out of the shop letting my eyes heal and staying away from saw dust. I have recently been out there for a little bit, wearing eye protection and face mask. Maybe I will have something to share wood related soon. I also have had my adult daughter home from grad school (physical therapy) for the past 3+ weeks. She was "passing through" on her way to a 10 week clinical rotation when she got word that it was being postponed "indefinitely". It was suppose to go until about the end of May, and so far its looking like she (and all of her classmates) will not get this one in right now. We are praying that she can start her next one in June on time. As a result, she has elected to stay here with us for now. I enjoy having her, she likes to cook! Anyway - my husband is in healthcare - not frontline, front and center like in the ER but still out there everyday so I made him and us and some extended family members face masks once the CDC recommended that we all wear them when we go out. The camouflage ones were for him - I thought they were fitting in that we are fighting a battle in healthcare right now! I used a couple of different patterns. I said its funny, i can saw a much straighter line on a scroll saw then I can sew one on a sewing machine. My mother was the seamstress, she sewed us barbie clothes, clothes for us when we were young, older, and for our children. She made baby blankets for ours and anyone else she knew expecting (including every baby in her church.) We lost her to Alzheimer's 4 years ago this week. I said she is either up there laughing at me, or shaking her head in despair at my sewing skills. She would have had 100's made in the time it took me to make 10! I used two different patterns. The second photo shows the ones that "fit" your face a little more then the first ones. The first ones are more like surgical masks that are not as form fitting to your face. Here is the links to where I found the patterns. This is link to the first one: https://www.joann.com/how-to-make-a-face-mask/042188731P321.html and this is the second one: https://www.craftpassion.com/face-mask-sewing-pattern/#face-mask-video
