  1. Hello friends, I hope you are in good health. This pandemic is affecting us all, we are isolated without being able to work normally. But it also gives us time to learn new things. I show you my last work done with dremel, now in wood. Thank you in advance for your comments. A greeting and a big hug for everyone.

  3. I made the pattern for this from a drawing I found online. You all know what a fondness I have for Old West themed projects. There are six gunfighters in this picture. This one is 11x14x1/8" Baltic Birch.

    Tomato whisperer

This is an Al Bagetta plan. The overlay is red Cedar and the backer board is a local grown Oak. The stake was cut from a 4x4 redwood post. I cut two ad I have tomato plants in two different locations, however, my wife commandeered one to give to her girlfriend who is growing tomatoes also.

  6. Well after almost a year out I am finally able to walk about and also get to my saw although for only small amounts of time but I am upright which is always a bonus. I have made a few things recently will add to my album at some point I did check in now and then but just as a spectator , hoping to now move along a lot quicker and get some vinyl back on here . been a while since some vinyl got posted so only right I do something about that As it has been a while I have attached a few of my cuttings I have done and I even added one in wood to show my saw does do wood too. Good to be back and I hope to be back on here more in the near future and helping with patterns etc as I used to before my op. Good to see some of the usual names here still and I Thank the ones who sent me messages asking where and how I was it meant a lot . Stay Safe all and I hope to post more soon once the Nurse (wife) lets me outside more to me workshop .

  7. well heres some pictures of some stuff iv made. the first one is just a heart box I made...I put red felt on the bottom inside and then tried to inlay the rose. then theres the 2 welcome butterflys...I stacked cut them on 2 different shades of Baltic burch then just switched the insides parts of each, somewhere or another I found a piece of hard wood so I took my book on making these kind of bowls and made the little dinosaur one. I had fun cutting that one out...now I just have to wait for some more hard wood to fall into my lap so I can another one. lol like I said I have a whole book of these kinds of bowls the next one is a combound cut dragon holding a little plastic purple heart..and last but not least my cute little layered angle pig. I cut out the pig and the looked in my craft room for wings lol there a gold kind of thin metal and all I had to do was glue them on lol well I guess my breaks over so I should get back to doing something around here lol

  8. I hadn’t cut on the EX21 in quite a while so thought I’d cut a puzzle out on it. I have blade storage tubes set up at each saw. When I unravel the dozen I take note of how I put the remaining 11 blades in the tube so when I need the next blade I know what end is top when removing the rest of the blades. So what I really learned was that this puzzle cuts a lot harder with the blade installed upside down. I didn’t figure out that it was upside down until I was done cutting It’s not the easiest puzzle to cut with all that fur on the bottom of the dog, but the blade in the right way sure made the next puzzle cut much easier. So if anyone wants a challenge you should try cutting one of these puzzles with the blade upside down. my next challenge is going to be cutting with the blade upside down and backwards. Travis should have these kind of challenging topics .

    Basket weave

Another great pattern from Steve Good. This is a basket , the wood is popular, I stained the top and bottom with golden oak and the rest is black walnut.

    Wooden engine

Such patterns (auto, moto, technical items) are quite difficult to make, it needs more accuracy and precision. I think I coped with this task, what do you think? Video of making Engine Engine pattern

    Just for me ...

Tony is making me my own workshop so I thought I'd make something to go in it. It will hang on the wall above my saw to remind me. I hope it doesn't matter that it wasn't done on my saw but with my router. !! A Sam Custodio pattern.

  14. If you find your self a bit board you might want to try this little fun puzzle I've created for you. First, use the pattern to cut out these individual race car puzzles from 1/4" birch ply or some other scrap wood you have lying around. Then mix up all the piece in a coffee can. You can now use this as a competition with a friend to see who can build a race car the fastest. In the process you can trade (or nastily withhold) pieces your opponent might need to finish. Or you can play by yourself to see if you can put the two cars together in record time. Use your imagination and have fun. Download free pattern.

    Thanks to Alex Fox

This is one of Alex's patterns and I have been cutting it in between my mobile phone stands. The back is 1/4" pine and the middle and front are 3mm ply, they are painted white and red. I loved cutting it. Thanks for the pattern @alexfox Marg

  16. Last fall I moved my shop from the garage to the barn. The shop vac that I use for Scrollsaw an sanders started to lose suction. Checked the dust deputy bucket and it was almost empty. Checked the vac and it was completely plugged up. Couldn’t figure out why the dust deputy quit working. Been working great in old shop! After much head scratching I figured out I had put the suction hose on the wrong port!!

  17. Here is a copy of the first intarsia I ever made. I only used cedar used as fence wood at home Depoe. I choose different tones to give the shades of wood I wanted. you can die the colors to be darker. or use whatever wood you have that may work for you. It is important that you cut very carefully as the different colored wood will be from a different section or piece of wood. It is suggested that you use 3/4 thick wood but not ply wood. Cut all you pieces first. Try to stay on the line when cutting. Then shape your pieces so that they are rounded on the outside edges. Sand where needed so there is no gap between the pieces. The tail should be tapered to a thinner degree then the body for realism. after you have them shaped you can put a dab of glue where the pieces join one another. After they are all dry make a backer board of 1/4 in ply and glue the dolphin to the BB. When dry, put on your finish. The fins of the fish are made with about 3/8 thick pieces. the arrow lines are wood grain direction and initials for for Medium or lighter wood colors. If you have any questions just message me, I will be happy to help you. I can send you a photo of the dolphin I made if you would like to see the colors, I choose for my first one A little bit of sanding to obtain realism and a final sanding before you put them together. opinion on new bandsaws

went yesterday to our local store to look at bandsaws. they had the rikon 10-326 on display and a new jet also on display.the new jet is the welded steel frame like the rikons and laguna and others. they had sold the laguna 1412 a few days ago.both the jet and rikon are made in china. the jet seems somewhat more heavy duty in the manufacture. the guide post on the rikon seems kinda cheap. the rikon saw guide post looked to be about 7/8 or so but the jet was like 1 3/8 or so. the rikon upper guides were also canted left and by the looks it has a set screw on the inside which was set against the flat part on the guide rod.i am not sure if it was just crap assembly by the workers or do you really have to fiddle with these saws alot?fence rails on the rikon was kinda cheap, but that is ok as i would probably get a carter mag fence.does anyone else have any experience with the 14 inch rikon saws? lots of people on other forums talk about laguna bandsaws, some rave, some rant about poor customer service after the sale.i go for function more than looks in my tools, if something looks really bad i would paint it or clean it up. never thought looking for a new bandsaw would be so difficult.all three brands of saws are about the same price give or take a hundred dollars. doug

  20. Since you took a sabbatical, I have joined the SSV family. I am glad that you are still vertical as that is always a good way to start a day. Excellent work. One thing I love about the village is how there is so many different projects and all of them are great. I look forward to seeing me of your work, but more importantly, your able to do what you enjoy! Welcome back!

  21. Thank you Marg, It did take a little longer to cut.. but not extremely longer.. I knew something was off.. but didn't even consider the blade.. I thought it was just me as I haven't used that saw in quite a long time and they do cut very different from the Hawk that I normally use.. then the dust sticking to the pattern I just blamed it onto the new shipping label papers that I printed the pattern on.. but I was struggling a bit to stay with the lines and normally I don't have such struggles with that..again just thought it was being on the more aggressive saw. It really didn't come out too bad.. I may start using both ends of the blade to save on blades

  32. I have the rikon 10-325 14” deluxe bandsaw. It will resaw up to 13”. I have the upgraded blade guides and a carbide tip resaw blade and it does an awesome job. I use it just for resawing . I have a porter cable with a carter stabilizer and an 1/8” blade. Keep the delta put a carter stabilizer on it and buy the rikon for resawing.

  34. I sometimes have provlems which is up side down or not. I took a piece of scrap plywood and drue with a square lines on it . If it is upside down it is real hard to cut a on the line.some times it doesn't work that good then I check to see if dthe line of saw dust on the table slants to the left lthe blade is in OK to the right dturn the blade to correct that. Issue with UR 5

This may not be the way to do it but I lightly run my thumb up the blade before I put it in. If it is in the right position you will feel your thumb catch on the teeth. If it is upside down your thumb will just slide up with no resistance. It may not work for you but it works great for me. I check every blade. If it is upside down it will not track and cut straight.

  46. Since four of my shows have been canceled I have spent some time doing some things that I have wanted to do in a long time but have put off. I have a mini split heat pump in my shop for heating and cooling. It wasn't designed for a super dusty environment like my shop. It has a filter in it but not adequate. When in use I had to blow it out every other day with my air compressor. Came up with this idea. The box hangs on a cleat for easy removal. I used foam around the bottom to seal it up. Time will tell how it works. I also built this lumber rack on wheel which I desperately needed.

  47. Since we had to self quarantine for 14 days upon our return from Florida, I had lot’s of time to spend in the shop. Weather here not the greatest since our March 17 return so the basement was my refuge. Here are some items that I finished. Enjoy and stay safe the scrollsaw or the wood does not carry the virus, I hope. ps The Kleenex box pattern is from Sue Mey (not easy) The bunny head pencil from Bagetta and the wolf from Alex Fox

  48. Not all of my projects have been scrolled, but I have gotten some of that done. Tree is a sweetgum, we got it planted right after the quarantine went into effect in our county. Planter-box was built yesterday, with my wife's help (and no blood was shed!), it'll go in the back yard where she can plant some herbs/veggies. The compound cut is for one of my daughter's favorite teachers, an Army vet who has really helped and encouraged her this year. Navy compound cut is up next, for myself.
