This 6x9” Stevie Ray Vaughn cutting is a case of too little of a good thing. Again, I decided to cut a slightly modified Charles Dearing portrait much smaller than the artist intended.Actually, only the guitar was too difficult. I used mainly a combination of Pegas 2/0 spirals and Pegas MG 2/0 and MG #1s with micro drill bits. 1/4” Baltic Birch mounted on 3/4” Pine, stained True Black.8 points

Finally my Mega sized beast has hit the road to its new home. It's just over 30 x 42 inches before the framing. The letters are 3 inches tall and the centerpiece is 25 x 15 inches. All but the frame is Baltic Birch plywood in 3/4 for the orange borders along with the centerpiece and 3/8 and 1/4 most everywhere else. The centerpiece was segmented and shaped with a Dremel. Big Thank you to Col Pilgrim for being my second eyes and wonderfully brutal critic on the centerpiece.8 points

Lockdown Projects - Scroll Saw Challenge
Tomanydogs and 2 others reacted to TommyT1963 for a topic
A bit late, but this is a project I have been working on over the weekends during this time. This is the first project I have completed in over 30 years. I learned that I need to work on patience, scrolling requires much patience and I am glad I picked this back up again. I learned can not feed the wood quickly or "force feed" the saw to get done faster. I should have known better than cut the outside first! This was my first try at epoxy resin, I like the idea and may try this in some other projects that I am planning, like drink coasters. Comments and suggestions are definitely welcome. Tom3 points -

Here's a little project where my scroll saw was handy. We purchased a set of wrought iron patio furniture a couple years ago. The paint was in sad shape and there were several spots where it was oxidizing. With the Stay At Home order it seemed like a fine time to restore it. I gave the pieces a good TSP bath and rinse. Then with an angle grinder and wire brush cleaned up all the rust and loose paint. Finished with a new coat of flat black. What has this to do with a scroll saw? Several of the feet had lost their plastic inserts and so I took a UHMW cutting board from the kitchen. Made it 2" shorter and cut circles on the scroll saw and epoxied them onto the chairs. Worked fine.2 points

Just finished a 3/4 view of a 1957 Chevy Bel-Air convertible. I had been a request from Heppnerguy. As usual, the design took longer than the cutting. 8 day/4 day. Plaque is 17 x 10 on BBPW with 1/4" backer. I also did a video of the project that I am still editing and because of the size, I will have to post on YouTube. I'll update this posting once I'm done. My mom was kind of a homespun artist. A lady born and raised on the North Dakota prairies with a fourth or fifth grade education. In spite of her lack of a formal education my mom had so many accomplishments. The painted cream can is a sample of her work. Our home was so unique people would come to visit the inside. It was kind of a very nice mini museum. Our yard was equally unique A good portion of the yard was decorated with geometric designs made of colored glass. My mother collected buckets of Noxema, 7-Up bottles, Pond's Creme and other colored glass. She would smash them and shake them for hours until the the sharp edges were worn off. She would use these to make colorful designs in the yard. In the fall all the glass was picked up, washed and saved till the next spring. She was a glutton for hard work. Sorry for the rambling but I've always been so proud of her!1 point

Hi Octoolguy, The site you sent the link to is the one I have messaged twice with no reply. I have sent a message to Seyco through their “contact us” page. Not heard anything from them yet either.1 point -
This has probably been asked & answered before but my search skills never find what I need. I finished the bowl I've been working on and dipped it in natural Watco oil. Can I now apply a couple of coats of mineral oil / bees wax mixture? If the answer is yes, is it something that will need to be refreshed from time to time or is it "one & done"?1 point

Belt Sanders
kmmcrafts reacted to Woodmaster1 for a topic
If your set on a belt sander Triton has one that you can clamp upside down as an added feature. When Johnson's Workbench opens backup check them out. I need a new belt sander and that's the one I am going to buy. I just need to do a few blog entries on woodworking for the local woodworking store to get a $25 gift certificate for each one. Since the lockdown they have not been able to offer Saturday morning demonstrations. The demonstrations is how I picked up $50 dollar gift certificates, so I guess I will have do the blogs.1 point -

Need some help
crupiea reacted to thatknobtony for a topic
My fellow Aussie scrollers. I have a customer that wants a woody of the singer Pink. For me to send from Canada would be needlessly pricey and I doubt it would survive the trip. Hope I'm not wrong but I suggested to her that someone closer to home could cut it for her. She is willing to pay $50 Canadian plus shipping. If anyone feels up to the job please let me know. I would hate to let her down. Attached is a picture of the one she would like1 point -

However, he lives in the UK and I thought it easier to directly contact Hegner in Germany where they are made.1 point

I get an email from time to time from Nick Ferry, woodworker. This one came in a few days ago and I just got around to watching it. He is showing a new remote outlet for a vacuum that is air-controlled. It is WAY cool. Here is the link to it on Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07HC83XDT/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&psc=1&linkCode=sl1&tag=nicfer00-20&linkId=c11ac331d53aaf4702b3f051abf3c6e2&language=en_US Here is the link to Nick Ferry's video that shows how it works. For $22 I think it's a winner.1 point

I used to buy mine from Lesley's patterns http://www.scrollsawbladespatterns.com/index.htm But over the years their service had dropped.. Always got my order but slower than a snail.. Always enjoyed dealing with them as they took Paypal and at that time I wasn't taking credit card payments for my online sales so there was always funds in my PayPal account.. Also they sell all three ( FD, Olsen, and Pegas ) of my blade brands and it was always nice to order from one place... just worked out well.. Loved dealing with sloans too and sure will miss their wonderful service.. I just placed an order with wooden teddy bear on Sunday and they sent me a tracking number Monday.. supposed to be here today.. so I think they may be the next go to place for Olsen & FD blades.. https://woodenteddybear.com/collections/olson-scroll-saw-blades1 point

Spring Has Sprung - Scroll Saw Challenge
crupiea reacted to Frank Pellow for a topic
The items that immediately come to mind are the two Spring themed Welcome Plaques that we hand on our front door (only one at a time ). The first one is a Sheila Landry design: The second is my design but incorporates bird patterns that I purchased from Sheila: Right now, the second plaque is on our door to welcome visitors (I'm sorry to say, from a distance of 2 metres).1 point -

Hello again, Has anyone had any dealings with these people? I have sent 2 messages to them and have been completely ignored. How very discourteous and rude. I know on their website they say shipping to USA only. I was hoping for a reply and a small piece of advice on where to go next. Here in the UK we can only buy the complete quick release unit. With postage around $30. On the Advanced Technology website they sell just the swivel tips (with o rings) for $7.95. HQK03. I recently had one of the swivels break. Too far in to be able to get the bits out. I tried drilling from the other end to push the bits out. No way. Far too hard. Don’t suppose anyone knows of an outlet over there who sells them and are willing to ship to UK? I would be quite prepared to buy a few of them “just in case “0 points -
