  1. Alright SSV Nation, I have been on a mission to update the house in the last two years. I laid flooring down at the start of quarantine, but one thing that has been bugging me. So to update the 1980’s door chime cover. I even let the War Dept. (My wife) choose the pattern. Hope this helps to inspire someone.

  3. Had this pattern printed out and sitting around, thought I'd get on it after doing a couple of harder projects. Nothing like a quick, easy, fun cut to get one back into the spirit of sawdust! 3/8 BBply, used a Pegas #1MG blade. Backer is stained Minwax Honey, pattern is stained Cherry (mostly for the sides) and then top was painted using some paints my daughter had laying around....just thought I'd give it a try, painting a project instead of leaving it a solid stain color.

  4. This pattern has been around since at least Spring 2007 when Santomarco Enzo showed his version in SSWC magazine. Another designer named HONEY also had a version, I've always liked the pattern and the theme and I finally cut one just for myself today. My wife cut the crucifix on her vinyl cutter for me. I did cut one on the scrollsaw as an over-lay but, preferred the thin vinyl better. God Bless! Spirithorse

  5. Yet again more inlays in box lids. I have kept busy making toys but a friend, since 1947, asked me to make some custom boxes for his grands. Maple inlaid into aromatic (eastern red) cedar.

  7. ok here are the pictures of what iv been working on I made 2 sets of steves lift people for the dewalt since that's the machine I have. now I could have just left both sets blank, but that's now me lol so I made my little people into me and spike. lol spike usuly wears jeans and a tee shirt and since he was wearing a red tee shirt when I painted these he's wearing a red tee shirt, and im of course in jeans and a pretty top. now for the faces, I lowered the wood face some and then glued spikes head picture and my head picture in to on the wood face. now sine spike dosnt really have any hair that's all I did with him now for me when I lowered the face a bit I tried to take care and only lower the face leaving the hair at its orginal hight. and yes I relize my hair is now white lol but I decided to make a younger version of me from when my hair was blond back then. lol I will put one set in the wood shop so they can hold up my scroll saw arm, the second set will just sit on my nick nack shelf. im thinking of making more of these for family and friends using there pictures. im just now sure what to do about the arms being up lol I need to think of something for these people to be holding up over there heads. now if I knew of anyone who still fished I could do one of my comopnd cut fish for the little people to be holding up over there heads...but none of us has been fishing in years lol I think these might be something that would sell except for the fact that I would need a small picture of someones face to put into it lol not everyone knows how to edit pictures to crop and then make the right sized head and not everyone has a program like printshop to make this easer to use lol oh well I have me ad spike and if I can think of something to put In the hands they might not look like there holding there arms up as if in a stick up!! lolnow i come to the birds in there bird cages. I made four of these and put up some up some pictures of then in progress as well as pictures of the finished item. now the first and last pictures of the birdcages and birds is after I cut out the pieces and started sanding them, don't ask me why the computer put one at the top and one at the bottom as that is not how I put them in here lol then comes the pictures of them after being painted. the next picture is of them hanging in the work shop after being polyurthined and last but not least is a close up of one of them after I put the feathers on them and the very last picture is of one of the finished birdcages and birds ready to put in the craft boxes. now of course I have to decide on what I want to start or work on next!! lol I don't think i'll be in the wood shop tomarrow as I have to sew all my granny squares into a sweater lol I just hope it will fit me lol id hate to have to give it away lol besides im not sure who besides me woud want a granny squared sweater lol they were real popler back when I was a teen and very young adult but I don't think many people today would want one lol I am still a prodict of my generation !!! spikes little flower girll hippy !! lol like I told spike the only old part of me is my body ! lol

  10. Ditched my inkjet a few years back. The cost of the ink was as much as an entire new printer that came with ink. I would just toss the whole thing when the ink ran dry. Just didnt sit right doing that but neither did paying more for ink than an entire new unit. Went color laser and paid under $200 for it. Came with all the color toners too so printed probably 400-500 pages just with the ones it came with. I buy the off brand toners on amazon that are about $40 for all the colors and 2 blacks. They last forever or so it seems. It voids the warranty they say but I have never used a warranty anyway so no biog deal. When i lay my stuff out it is always multiple pages. I have no thoughts at all of printing 10 pages just to look at it and then printing it again after a slight tweak to the size. Plus it is wireless and I can even print from my phone if I want to. I am not printing photos and the like, just my patterns and such. Printed some labels the other day so will try this trick next time I print one. It is the Brother HL-3170 cdw.

I have yet to find one of your projects that did not top the scales. Not a toy guy here. but one has to enjoy anything you make..Almost makes me want to get on the floor and play with them, but that is not a good idea any more because it is too hard to get back off the floor, now days Dick heppnerguy

  42. This is very interesting, I watched a few years back about doing this with regular paper but the process of getting the paper wet but not too wet and all the rubbing involved to separate the paper made me loose interest in a project I've been wanting to try.. I've got a inkjet printer but I'm going to give this a try.. Thank you Ray for posting this..

    an easy cool off

After my big disappointment from the teddy bear I saw an easy piece on Steve Good's page that I needed to cut, just to bring back some confidence I lost from my last piece. So I did this one and felt a little better. Not much of a challenge here and do not even know what I am going to do with this one. But it did the job of making me believe a little in myself once more. So not all was lost in the long run. Dick heppnerguy

  47. The items that immediately come to mind are the two Spring themed Welcome Plaques that we hand on our front door (only one at a time ). The first one is a Sheila Landry design: The second is my design but incorporates bird patterns that I purchased from Sheila: Right now, the second plaque is on our door to welcome visitors (I'm sorry to say, from a distance of 2 metres).

  48. I really started enjoying and improving my scrolling after someone one here gave me this advice.... so simple.... "relax, drop your shoulders and breath normal." It worked for me... Thank you, whomever wrote that several years ago.

  49. By far, what I wish that I had known as a newbie is that there is an incredible wealth of helpful information, tutorials, patterns and amazing, helpful people right here in Scroll Saw Village. I mean, really, everything you need to get going and keep going is all here. My best advice...explore this website! Then get a piece of plywood and start cutting. Don't forget to ask questions on here whenever you need help. You will get great answers by skilled crafts men and women.
