just a few more pictures
heppnerguy and 3 others reacted to Dragonkort for a topic
well right now im working on putting my sweater together and iv started carvining on the 2nd bulldog tooth pick holder but i thought id put up a few pictures anyway as i have no idea how long those 2 projects will take to finish. lol now lets see the first one is a puzzlee of a roman solder i think ..lol then theres the pumpkin lamp it looked pretty good when it was all let up, and now still with the howlleen them i made a pull along black cat. lol i used my zapped cat pattern i got form the winterfield collection and just paited it blaxk and put it on a base with wheels...i sold 3 of those right way lol then of course dragon lovers must have at least one dragon in there kitchen so heres a dragon paper towl holder lol l thught this one was cute. lol and then theres the airplain lamp someone asked me to make for there son, i didnt have a lampshade to put on it but the people didnt care they could get there own lamp shade..now lets see oh yes the bless this house sign i took a pence and outlined the tree and house so id know where to put the green and blue on the baker boad. now my girls used to love barbie dolls and of course they needed furnture for there dolls so i learned how to make a few things for the out of wood, those sold real good to lolo and the last picture is of my oldest daughters shapie dog named coco. he died a few years back but helen really like the picture of him and she still has it hanging on her wall. the front and baker board are made from the same materal...i just turned the baker board over and painted it black. i think it came out pretty good and helen loved it so thats all that matters to me. lol well im off everyone have a great day evening or night depending on where you live lol4 points -

Now I am starting to be able to do a bit I am looking at the patterns that are on here since I have been gone and came across this and could not resist as my daughter is a front line NHS worker I felt a need to give this a go great pattern @Helder Botas Thank You . Please excuse the odd iffy line I am only just able to stand and saw after a long lay off but saw this pattern and had to give it a go. Not so much bragging my work but hoping to brag a great pattern I gave all 3 to my daughter to give to her work colleagues .3 points

Did you try cleaning the ends of the thumb screw and set screw? Maybe rough the ends with sanding paper?.. Somewhere someone posted photos of drilling a hole in a piece of scrap wood just large enough to thread the thumb screw into as well as the set screw.. then put a sheet of sand paper on a flat surface and sand... this makes sure you have them straight when sanding them.. I've ruined some set screws doing it without this method as it's quite difficult to hold them completely straight without them threaded into a scrap board.. I typically use a 1/4' BB scrap piece to do this.. I don't remember the size drill bit you need so you may have to try a few times to get one the right size where you can thread the screws into it.. Also.. the thumb screws clamps etc are the same as those from Dewalt.. If you only need the screws or the rotating pins in the end of the thumb screw.. You can buy them from Ray at Seyco.. They are the same thread size etc as the Excalibur.. I used to buy them for my DeWalt from Ray.. Also you could upgrade to the Pegas blade chucks if you need to buy the whole blade chucks. You can use either the ones made for the Excalubur and use the tension system like the Ex has or buy the set made for the DeWalt.. and use your existing tension lever on your saw..3 points

The one that almost had me quitting scrolling
Jronn65 and one other reacted to heppnerguy for a topic
This great pattern by Bernd was the one that almost had me flicking in scrolling. I wanted so much to cut a really good pattern for my neighbor who owns a 1967 Chevy convertible that he restored and had owned for 17 years. He, like so many car enthusiasts loves and cherishes his car. I know how important this car was to him and how much he loved having it that I wanted the best pattern I could get to cut and give to him. Bernd stepped up to the plate and made the great pattern for me and then he cut it and made the video of it, that so many of you enjoyed in this forum. I was unable to do a satisfactory job cutting it and got myself really depressed, as this was to be a perfect gift. I messed up very badly and I was thinking I should just give up and flick in my scrolling hobby. Well, Bernd, being the giving and caring person he is, Sent me the plaque he made in his video to give to my neighbor. Following the chevy plaque failing, I followed with the nurse bear screw up. So, things were just not going well for me. Because of the encouragement from Bernd and several of you, in my previous posts, I am now over my depression and moving on. Thank you all for what you have done for me. I am not usually depressed and take things in stride. I just wanted this one to be perfect. My thanks especially go out to Bernd and all he did for me. Repeat customer now wants an outside version of the same. Lucky me the Marine Carpenters threw away P.T.3/4"x2"x8' long pieces cut from many big wide boards. So right away I knew this will work for her. I hand planned the front and sanded, the back just sanded.will 123 zinzeer primer sealer tomorrow .thanks for looking 2' x15' glued with titebond 2 glue.W-E-E-T-R & P were cut with a spiral as I couldn,t urn the 2' wood.1 point -
For those of you who use shellac to seal wood before staining. Are you using Zinsser Bulls Eye straight out of the can or are you cutting it? And if you're cutting would you please share your formula. Many thanks.1 point

glad to hear you're back up and running without having to buy parts.. Though might not be a bad idea to get some extras for when the day comes and you need a new thumb screw etc.. The repair kit that Seyco sells just replaces the rotating tip and a new set screw.. They are the same as the ones for the DeWalt as I used to buy them from Seyco for my DW back in the day.. I assume they'd be the same as the Delta too..Just don't do as I did.. I thought a rebuild set 1 set screw and 1 thumb screw pin.. but it's a set for both the upper and lower clamps.. I bought one for each arm pluswanted a couple extras for each arm... needless to say.. I have enough of them for several years now..1 point

How about this place? https://www.partshopdirect.co.uk/dewalt-knob-sa-p286303-00/ I don't know what the prices mean so not sure if this is reasonable or not.. as I said in my last posting topic.. search your country for this part number 286303-00.. I do not know if the threads would be the same or even if the swivel end piece will work.. But these are the same as the one I measured in the earlier post reply.. I'm not sure of a part number or source for just the swivel.. I recall someone posting about a source for the piece long ago.. but I cannot find that topic etc. Only other source for us in the US that I know of is Seyco or A/M for just the end piece1 point

OK. I am calling time on this one. Neither Advanced Machinery and Seyco have had the decency to reply. I don’t care much for their business acumen. Surely a sale is a sale? I am contemplating getting my mini metal lathe out and trying to make one. How difficult can it be. I have anew one for reference. Just need to find some small o rings. Wish me luck!1 point -

This is my second attempt -- the first one failed miserably (3/8 baltic ply) -- maybe once I get it figured out myself -- this one the wood decided it wanted to go a bit different direction than where I intended -- a nice one, but I'll re-try soon -- and I might as well see where she wants to go while I'm at it ----she was singing to me when her petals were being formed-------1 point

Hello from Monroe County, PA...
nickp reacted to spirithorse for a topic
Welcome to the forum, Nick, Finding the right saw is always a matter of personal preference. About the only advice I can give while you are looking is MAKE SURE you like the clamping system. That is what is keeping me from buying a new saw. I absolutely abhor the clamping systems on even the highest price models on the market now. I wish I could design a scrollsaw and get a major brand company to put it on the market and send me the royalty checks for the design. Just a percentage of each unit sold would make me a happy camper because I am positive I could make something that most scrollers would be happy with. Alas, I got long winded and lost in a dream for a moment. Good luck with your search and welcome to the forum. I hope to see you up and running soon and showing us some nice projects. God Bless! Now I am jealous. I have a small quarter of the garage if I am lucky. I will admit Terry's always wanted me to have a wooden shed to myself but we just do not have the room. I would love a basement to but that's out of the question. Enjoy your new crafting home and make as much mess as you want. Marg1 point

Bird House Ornaments
OCtoolguy reacted to scrollerpete for a topic
I used all pieces of scrap wood that I have in my scrap box, mix and match wood of different thickness to get the size required for the bird houses. This way you get all kind of different colours, the front might be cherry, the back Walnut that is the beauty of cutting them. Your cost on wood is really nothing better use than the wood stove. Just let your mind explore all the possibilities.1 point
