  3. A friend of mine flew his drone over my local weekly market today and started this video clip at my booth. I definitely need one of these drones. My first event of the year. It was so-so, nothing fabulous and below what I had hoped for a holiday weekend, but hey at least I'm doing markets again. DJI_0028_3.mp4

  4. Most times I never seem to get all that much oily blade issues.. and I rarely ever clean them... however today opening up a new pack of blades the oil was almost dripping off of them.. There was no way I was putting them in my storage tubes like that as that oil would spread on the next several batches of blades and probably affect me for several months or years LOL.. So I took the three dozen I had in my hand that was getting ready to go into the tubes and went and grabbed a can of brake cleaner.. I sprayed all the blades still bundled up with the wire wrapping.. A light bulb went off in my tiny brain.. why not spray the whole batch at once like this... maybe some of you do? Back when I used to clean the blades I always did just one at a time as I used them.. Now.. you probably shouldn't do that if you're not using the blades up very fast.. That doesn't seem to be an issue for me with my most commonly used blades.. Anyway, I just thought it was easier and faster to spray them clean of oil with a quick spray of brake cleaner.. all three dozen was cleaned in less than a minute, LOL

  5. I used a quilt block pattern to make this memory box. It was a lot harder for me than I thought. I cut all the triangles on my scroll saw so there was no way I was able to get them all perfect. I used cedar, poplar, yellow heart, nogal, blue pine and bubinga.

    Advanced Technology

Ray from Seyco was very helpful when I had problems with my Ex21 a few years ago, however he would not ship spares outside of the US. I was lucky and a very nice lady from another forum ordered the parts and sent them onto me and I reimbursed her. there are some really great people in this funny old world, you just have to look for them.

  14. So I broke down and picked up an RBI 220...first scroll saw...seller has had it for 5 years, bought it from original owner and thinks it's about 12 years old or so. Now to disassemble, clean all the nooks n crannies, lube 'er up and let 'er rip... Are there any distinguishing characteristics that would help to age it...? Thanks in advance...

  15. This great pattern by Bernd was the one that almost had me flicking in scrolling. I wanted so much to cut a really good pattern for my neighbor who owns a 1967 Chevy convertible that he restored and had owned for 17 years. He, like so many car enthusiasts loves and cherishes his car. I know how important this car was to him and how much he loved having it that I wanted the best pattern I could get to cut and give to him. Bernd stepped up to the plate and made the great pattern for me and then he cut it and made the video of it, that so many of you enjoyed in this forum. I was unable to do a satisfactory job cutting it and got myself really depressed, as this was to be a perfect gift. I messed up very badly and I was thinking I should just give up and flick in my scrolling hobby. Well, Bernd, being the giving and caring person he is, Sent me the plaque he made in his video to give to my neighbor. Following the chevy plaque failing, I followed with the nurse bear screw up. So, things were just not going well for me. Because of the encouragement from Bernd and several of you, in my previous posts, I am now over my depression and moving on. Thank you all for what you have done for me. I am not usually depressed and take things in stride. I just wanted this one to be perfect. My thanks especially go out to Bernd and all he did for me. Another great pattern from Steve Good. This is a basket , the wood is popular, I stained the top and bottom with golden oak and the rest is black walnut.

  18. Look up you serial number on Bushton's site. They have a pretty good listing of them in the manuals section. If you post a picture of your saw, we can determine what you should look for. The number one thing is the motor. If it has a Fasco motor, you may have problems with it down the road. The style of lower blade clamp is another thing. Also, check at the rear where the tensioning is done, look at the "V" notch in the upper arm. See if it has any undue wear. There should also be a nylon washer between the tensioning knob and the "V" wedge that goes into the notch of the upper arm. In the front of saw, it should have a tension lever and upper clamp piece. Make sure that is lubricated well. You can download a manual for it if you didn't get one. Best of luck with your new toy.

  20. I clean mine with some denatured alcohol and a paper towel. Doesn't normally take a lot on normal manufacturing residue . May have to wipe down several times if they are dripping with oil, never experienced that issue. I have read someplace a while ago that mineral spirits works also . Best of luck.

    Memorial Day

One of the guys that were captured in the photo of the Marines hoisting the flag was a Native American that lived on a reservation only 6 miles from where I live. Wish I could have met him. I would love to hear his stories. Dick heppnerguy

    John Wayne.

@Kris Martinson. Big thanks to forum member Kris for sending me this fantastic pattern of the great John Wayne. I have used Cedar for the pattern and Yew for the frame. Cedar is a fantastic wood to cut and smells great. This was cut with a Hegner and Olson 2/0r blade. I just need to add a few coats of Danish oil and John will be ready for the wall. Regards, Paul.

  45. I made the pattern for this from a drawing I found online. You all know what a fondness I have for Old West themed projects. There are six gunfighters in this picture. This one is 11x14x1/8" Baltic Birch.

    Heart Trivet

The pattern is by Sue Mey. I used 1/2" Eastern Red Cedar. It cut smooth, but I found it very fragile. It cracked in two places, so I had to glue. We will use it as a wall hanging rather than a trivet. I cut it on the Pegas Scroll Saw using Pegas #3 MGT blades. Comments welcome.
