    Flower Bowl complete

Finished with Teak oil then satin poly -- will probably use beeswax later to polish. I left it a bit rough because it's getting really thin in spots (singing to me again). I even had to patch a sanding hole but I doubt you can even find it -- even in person it's hard to see.

  3. iOk so theres no mastake these are some things i have made in the past!! The first one is a cute pattern i got from who knows where lol i made a few these some for stock and some for friends who have cats...now that i have a cat im going to have to make one for me !!The main piece is 1/4 inc baltic burch and the wood type frame around it is from some wall panneling that i had left over then from when i helped my ex put the panneling in my moms rental apartment. which years and years later i wound up living in after my last 2 children moved out. lol and yes i have wood and supplies that are still around like 20 -30 or more years ago lol the next one is a pig hear no evil see no evil and say no evil pattern and no i dont remember where i got that one either!! and you will notice the fence is made from yet some more wood pannaling left over from when the ex and i did another room in moms apartement!! lol Spike is always asking if i EVER throw anything away. lol my answer..not often!!! lol then theres the 2 toy cars . i made a lot of those and they dissapeard almost as fast as i could make them ! lol i proubly could have made a little bit of money on cars if i had sold them but they never got into the stock boxes lol sometimes word of mouth isnt the best thing!! but knowing the kids would love them was all i needed to know lol i have 4 or 5 different car patterns like this. next is the 2 compound cut snowmen. one just standing and the other on a slied the last one i might have already put up once but since i cant remember weather i did or not i put it lol this is what i do with my scrap wood i make little chunkeys.....kids seem to like them a lot and i use them a lot when i make tick tack toe games. lol some i just put in little cloth bags and i usuly just give these away unless there used for like little barns and fences or little house i sometime make. i am working on a few things in the woodshop and when i gt them done or almost done i will put them up and now since the mayor is on AGAIN talking about the corana virise im going to cut my break short and do some more cutting lol everybody hav a great day!!! an

  4. Thank you...the saw does have the two position lower arm and I am anxious to see the difference in cut. I'm thinking I'll be using the less aggressive cut position. Like you, I can't see using the more aggressive position for anything that needs a straight up/down cut...maybe if I were resawing and didn't want to light up the bandsaw... (no offense to anybody that does...I don't yet know enough what I should and should not do)

  5. Hawk didn't ever put on the I.D. tag what the saw was back then.. The 220VS is call the same thing as the 220VS Untra.. The 220 just stands for a 20" throat.. the VS is variable speed.. they did have single speed saws which was just a 220 and 3 speed saws which was a 220-3.. But the older 220VS has round lower blade clamps.. the Ultra is the square looking clamp..They called them Ultra because they have two positions for the blade to fit into in the lower arm.. one for more aggressive cut and one for less aggressive cut.. Be warned though.. the aggressive position makes the saw not cut the same on the top and bottom of the piece.. and if making puzzles they pieces won't always slide together from both top and bottom.. I mostly always use the less aggressive position.. Same rules apply for the 226VS .. 26" throat.. they also had 3 speeds etc etc etc....

  6. I love Evapo-Rust. It works great, especilly for small parts. What I like best is that I can keep using it until it stops working, and when I'm finished I can pour it on my lawn as an iron supplement. There are no chemical burns or hazardous waste to dispose of. You can probably get molasses in 55 Gallon drums. I seent rust removed with all sorts of things. Potatoes and water being the strangest. It smells terrible. Lye solution will remove rust and seems to work better if you add a piece of zinc. I used to hunt civil war relics and used this method to clean heavy rust off of cast iron. It takes a long time, but it works.

    THINK in 3D

Just finished this 3D cutout. This was my first project with Pegas blades. I really like how smooth and crisp the blade left the wood. Still getting used to how the blades cut as opposed to Flying Dutchman. Looking forward to experimenting more with the Pegas.

Why am I happy, well today I cut my first mini bird house. I have been wanting to do them for years and I have had the patterns for years too but they always went to the bottom of the pile, so today I bit the bullet. I was surprised at how easy it was. Photo next week. Marg.

Just bought this board for $35. The store is going out of business and everything is discounted. The man who owned it just past away and his wife just wants everything gone. It’s 48 x 17 x 1 1/8.

  19. Just a heads up about this product Evapo Rust... Thanks to Hurricane Michael, many of my tools, including my table saw, scroll saw as well as the blades in some of my tubes, and power tools all had a layer of rust settle on them. I put some Evapo Rust on rag, and wiped down the power tools, soaked my scroll blades in a tube filled with the liquid, wiped down the table tops and the rust layer disappeared within minutes. I was then able to wax my tools and all looks like new again, the blades are none for the wear and my table tops all shine and wood slides right off them whee! Good product this Evapo Rust which can be purchased at HF. Hope that helps anyone else with a rust problem

  20. Evaporust...I will definitely put it on my shopping list... I restored a Lion miter knife, and other oldies, with a 50/50 acetone/ATF solution, wet paper, rust slurry and elbow grease...now I know better for my future "ole arn" finds... ...but I have to say, I would never have thought of molasses...

  42. I used a quilt block pattern to make this memory box. It was a lot harder for me than I thought. I cut all the triangles on my scroll saw so there was no way I was able to get them all perfect. I used cedar, poplar, yellow heart, nogal, blue pine and bubinga.

I use a 4 1/2" grinder with a coarse flap sanding disc on it. The disc last a fair long time and it gets the job done in fairly short order. The problem I have had with the wire brushes is after a while they tend to shed some of the bristles and can stuck in you . Just a thought for consideration .

  44. While hey if it works, who's to complain but really, 5 gallons of molasses? The cost alone sounds prohibitive, no? Not to mention the bugs it would attract?
    1 point
  45. I don't know where he heard of it, I actually don't know where you'd buy 5 gallons of molasses from, I must ask. Apparently there is one caveat, there can not be any grease or oil on the item as this buggers up whatever the molasses does. I myself would have better uses for molasses, Rum springs to mind

  46. Is this an April Fools joke??? Never heard of that before. I mean even if it works, who get up one day and says, "I have to get rust off this equipment, I think I will see if molasses will remove it"? I know of using vinegar, it is great for many things.
    1 point
  47. My neighbour, the one that restores old engines, uses molasses. It is a real eye opener. He showed me a rusted seized crank , put it in the drum of molasses and three days later there was not a sign of rust and the you could of knocked me down with a feather, it had freed up. I think it may make machine tables a little sticky

    EvapoRust - Excellent product!

I wish I had taken a before picture but today I cleaned up a Jacobs chuck on a morse taper that I had neglected for years. I immersed it in white vinegar for about four hours then rinsed it in clean water. After a little work with a wire brush in a cordless drill and a wipe with WD40 it has come up almost as new. Rob

  49. What I have found works best is soaking what ever has rust on it. 2nd best is to wipe on and keep wet what ever has rust for at least an hour if its a thick layer, less time if it'snot. For me, I have some items that are so rusted they have to be soaked over night as well as some that I've been soaking for a week - the outcome however is always better than having to buy another widget.
