    Pink

Thanks to @thatknobtony I got to make this for a lady in South Australia. The wood is 1/2" Australian Blackwood.. Unfortunately I could only get the fluro pink paint, spray paint is in a bit of a short supply at the moment due to isolation, because everyone is doing DIY. Marg

  2. My niece's oldest son is a baseball nut just like his uncle. We both need to see this COVID nonsense end so some body can yell "PLAYBALL". Until then, knowing how much he is missing his pals on Little League, I cut a puzzle of him receiving his "All Star" trophy last season. 139 pcs including my first attempt at cutting figural/whimmsies. I hope this works, thanks for looking. Sorry about the image, it was taken on my phone and then turned on it's side by the APPLE goblins, and I can't figure out how to fix it.

I seen the plans (16 pages worth) on Woodsmithplans.com. There is a lot of scrolling an sanding. Made from black walnut an white maple. The plans didn’t show the hand rails, front steps or the ballast in the track. I felt it was needed. I don’t have a way to do turning. So I just started sanding the main round engine using belt sander and anything else I could come up with. This is a gift to my youngest son so I wanted it to be totally made by me. It is hard to see in pictures but the sign on stand reads “New York Central Railroad Twentieth Century Limited Super Hudson Streamlined J3a Built 10 Between 1937-1938”. This has to be the most rewarding project that I have made in the 10+ years of woodworking! To see the emotion from my son when I showed it to him is what I will never forget. I have included a picture of the real engine and you notice I used the same engine number it had. Sorry for the long post but if you want anymore information just ask. Have probably over 40 hours in it. The stand is 30” long. Thanks for looking!

    THINK in 3D

Just finished this 3D cutout. This was my first project with Pegas blades. I really like how smooth and crisp the blade left the wood. Still getting used to how the blades cut as opposed to Flying Dutchman. Looking forward to experimenting more with the Pegas.

    Drone view of market

A friend of mine flew his drone over my local weekly market today and started this video clip at my booth. I definitely need one of these drones. My first event of the year. It was so-so, nothing fabulous and below what I had hoped for a holiday weekend, but hey at least I'm doing markets again. DJI_0028_3.mp4

I had a PC for a couple of yrs,I started to have that trouble as well.I found it was 2 special bolts located on the side upper and lower,it will take an allen wrench, sorry I forgot the size, the top is coverd by the name plate. When I adjusted them the machine stopped slipping and ran quieter.but it is only s short term fix,it will be needed reguarly .

  20. Is it possible that you may have loosened the tension handle too far and may have lost the crown nut on the bottom side of the upper arm, in line with the post holding the blade tension handle...? (see part 263T in parts list and diagram)

I think this is really a Segmentation. It is something similar to Intarsia but it only uses one piece of wood, ie the pattern is one piece and glued on to a large enough piece of wood and then cut out. With this method the parts all (mostly) fit together. I use a KIRJES Inflatable Drum Sander for the majority of my sanding and then use old fashioned elbow grease. I would recommend trying Segmentation as there are some simple designs that give a perfect piece at the first try. take care Don W

    Source for Blades...?

I found the double tooth #3 and #5 Dutchman and Olsen brands worked really well for me. They are not very aggressive so I found them easy to keep control of my cuts with; After years of intarsia and scrolling I have switched to Pegas blades which are more aggressive and I now prefer them. You may find you will make blade preferences as you scroll more. Try different brands and sizes, that is the only way you will know what you really like Dick heppnerguy

  30. Actually he purchased the saw from me through ArtCrafters. Most everyone I dealt with is very satisfied with the Pegas Scroll Saw. Looks like you are in New Jersey. The saw is shipped from Carlstadt, NJ, so shipping would be minimal. Any questions, send me a pm.

  31. You might check with @Denny Knappen who is a member here in the Village and who has a shop and who has recently noted that he has become a distributor of the Pegas Saw. One thing I would check is whether the place you order it from "stock" them (i.e. they are shipped to them first) or if they are all dropped shipped directly from Pegas. I don't know the answer to this. Denny can probably answer that question or Bob with Pegas. If they are all drop shipped them I would say shipping time would all be the same. If some are drop shipped and some are carried in stock, shipping time might vary. Good luck with getting it. I hear good things about it so hopefully you will love it too.

  32. Hello, I am fairly new to scroll sawing and I am currently working with an 18" Porter Cable variable speed scroll saw that is being lended to me. I've used it for probably 6 hours or so, but today I went to use it and I was struggling to get my tension correct with a plain end blade and something broke. Whenever I try to run the machine, the tension instantly releases. This has broken two blades, and no matter what I do I cannot tighten or loosen the tension and get it to hold when I run the blade. I am not sure if I broke it by applying too much tension earlier on, or how to fix it because I do not know exactly what is wrong. I am waiting for a response from Porter Cable, but in the meantime are there any suggestions or does anyone know what I did wrong/what piece I broke? Everything looks like it is not broken, but I do not completely understand the mechanics behind the tension of a scroll saw.

  33. I don't think that is the issue because the saw is relatively new, only been used for about a month now and all of the parts are intact. I am not sure if I tightened the blades too much, or somehow damaged something holding the tension in place?
