    Hey everybody.

Hey everybody. I haven't been in the shop much the last couple of months. I started metal detecting and I'm a little addicted. A friend who has bought a couple of things from me sent a FB message saying her son just got married and is away in the military. He and his wife love the outdoors and their 2 dogs, a lab and a husky. Anyway she said if I ever did anything with a couple and two dogs she wants to buy it. Put this together using clip art, I can't draw. Found out they honeymooned at the ocean. The piece of Walnut had 2 knots which I didn't like because I wanted the bigger knot to be the sun. The smaller one had an x shaped crack in it so I turned it into an eagle. Since her son is serving us it'll be free of course. Hope everyone's doing well.

  3. A couple of weeks ago Ron Johnson posted his Scrollsawn Jewelry Box. That inspired me to drag out the book that I have had for over 5 years and search for the pattern. This is a practice piece for making Christmas gifts for my Grand daughters with some more exotic wood. This was made with poplar and stained. With Ron's help I changed the procedure so there are no cuts that had to be glued back together. Made a few mistakes along the way but will know better next time. Fun project and thank you Ron for the inspiration.

  4. We were married on July 2nd in 1966. Steve Good has an anniversary pattern for most years and I made use of it last weekend. The foreground is made of 6mm thick Figured Maple and the background of 18mm thick Baltic Birch plywood treated with Raspberry Saman stain. I took a photo of it on one of our kitchen widow-sills sitting beside a Valentine gift that I made earlier this year.

I had held off doing a P-51 for a while since a few have been posted in the past but finally decided I needed to add it to my collection. I went a little large 16 x 11.5 because I wanted to put a face on the pilot. I also did my paint in method on the fuselage and wing roundels. Font is Corsair.

  8. I made an urn for a very good friend of mine and his wife had a friend in to visit and she saw the urn and she asked me to make 2 one for herself and one for her husband. Told her that I don’t like to make the same thing twice, so her main request was she like something simple made of dark wood. I used walnut and mahogany, will deliver tomorrow, hope that she will be please with the end result.

    Sawdust Static?

Les, most cedar is not kiln dried. It also contains a lot of oil. So you get a moist, oily powder rather than dry dust. It’s probably not dry enough for your dust collection to pick up. Like trackman above, I have my blower pointed at my dust collection port. I don’t have a remedy for you, just wanted you to know what your problem was.

    Sawdust Static?

I always apply clear packing tape on top of the pattern. The trick is to burnish the tape down with a block of wood so the tape is perfectly adhered to the pattern. If you do this, dust can’t get under the tape.

  11. Since I'm new to the forum I figured I'd post a few pictures of projects I've done. Of course I can't find photos of the majority since I usually just gave them away. The picture with the "I love my saw" was my first and second project I ever did. I only scrolled the doberman on the dog bowl holder, but the project still turned out great so I figured I'd share. I also made the cake topper for my wedding out of purpleheart. You'll have to excuse the gross glue residue on the wood, this was taken right after I peeled it all off...of course I can't find the picture of it on the actual cake...

    Sawdust Static?

I think this might work to move that sawdust.. You would need a hard hat and epoxy glue the hose onto the hat so when you look down it blows the dust off the line.. https://www.amazon.com/Husqvarna-570BTS-powerful-X-Torq-Backpack/dp/B008JL05I4?ref_=fsclp_pl_dp_12

    Hey everybody.

I have long said the art will find the wood. I had a piece in the shed for a couple of years that was always in the back of my mind. A certain motorcycle pattern was posted and immediately I thought of the special plank. Really great work on this. The sapwood and knots fell right into your wheelhouse.

Honestly there's not much difference in cutting experience between it and the Ultra.. Other than you can adjust the blade movement and I did make it so it's slightly more aggressive than the Ultra.. but it's not worth going out to buy one just for that reason.. The older Hawks have a "soft start" where they sort of ramp up to speed and the BM as soon as you hit the foot switch it's on and full speed.. I like the soft start better.. but it's not a hate it type thing and I have gotten used to it now some.. I guess if I was going to buy another saw I would buy a used Ultra and save the extra cash for something else.. IF I was a top feeder that would be a bonus for the BM.. but I'm not.. Just not much difference and there is plenty of deals on used Ultras that'd save money.. Glad I have it and don't regret getting it.. just not all the hype I thought it might be.. Would be nice if they'd have thrown in some extra lower blade clamps.. I like to pre-load all my clamps and got used to doing that with the other saws.. I need to bite the bullet and buy a few of them..

First off, great job on your project! I'm also a WW2 aviation geek and picked up this print when I was stationed in Germany. The ME262 was definitely an amazing machine, but limited as you said by it's flight time and late entry into the war.

I recently did this pattern (and I think yours is better) for a gentlemen who flew P-51's in both World War Two and Korea. I did put the tail codes and serial number of the one he was shot down in. It turns out that 60 years later, he found out he downed a ME-262. By far the funnest project I have cut to date. Now if I can only find an F-16 pattern that is deserving to be cut. That is my pride and joy.

My 1998 226 Ultra is 10290 I think... My old 220VS is like 355** or something like that.. and has the round clamps.. Not sure the number of the BM-26.. I haven't memorized it because I haven't needed any parts.. or had to call and ask about the year etc.. LOL..

    getting a new toy!

yes its one of those, i dont remember the brand name of it but i figured for 12 dollars it was worth the risk and i sure do hope it works like they say it will and that it is sturdly made and wont break.

  39. I get that also Les, but a much smaller pile...with a blower on my King. But I get it with different woods, and not all the time. I can even be cutting a line and get it for a couple of inches then turn a corner and it's gone. I just figured it had something to do with the piece of wood, maybe the clear shelf paper/pattern printed on a label, or humid/dry air in the shop. In other words...I have no idea!!!

Its not shining through, its a photo, i put a led strip between the front en the back, i put 5 pieces of wood between the front and back. So the ledstrip reflects the photo. hard to explain (iam Dutch)

    Hello Everyone

Hello all, All the way from the Great White North in northern Ontario, and ever since my very good friend Gave me his old Delta scroll saw, and seeing his exquisite work, I became hooked, and I must have made 10 simple patterns in the first week. I am still doing simple stuff as my saw blades are "wobbling", and making cuts harder. My friend said it's time to replace it as he has tightened it as much as he could. Well still using it as I am still shopping and saving for the right one, lots of choices. Glad to be with you all. Keep smilin' and take care

I got it from pinterest, adjusted it a bit, en looked for a wallpaper on internet. i then used a battery operated ledstrip. the square frames are two picture frames glued together. the round ones are stack cut. the patterns (on pinterest or Google) are silhouette, so just type in: cat silhouette for example and you get loads. hope this helps a bit.
