    Lord's Prayer

Some of you may have seen my request for the Lords Prayer in a heart shape. Wayne Mahler of our group took my request and created a pattern for cutting. Here is the cutting and also my thanks to Wayne for the wonderful work he did in creating it. Used a different background on it in the 2 photos. Not sure how I will finish it yet. Jim

    1936 Delahaye 135

The 1936 Delahaye 135 is a true Art Deco classic with sweeping aerodynamic lines. The Delahaye company of France produced cars from 1894 until the company was purchased in 1954 by Hoskiss. The type 135 was produced with 95 and 120 HP engines and had a r/h drivers’ wheel and was well known on the European racing circuit winning many trophies. What intrigued me most about cutting this car was that the picture of this car was mostly black so the pattern was held together more by thin lines rather than wide section on the front of the pattern. This required a fair amount of planning to get the sequencing right to retain the strength of the pattern. I pretty much had to work from the inside out doing the weakest cuts first and always reinstalling and taping the cut outs back into the plaque. I had a few peninsular cuts like the windshield wipers, door handle and turn signal that made me a little nervous but they came out alright. I really like the Umbria Font that Heppnerguy used for the B-25 pattern. It really fit the era of when this car was made. Pattern is 16 x 9.5” on 1/8” BBPW with ¼” black painted backer. The frame was a little more complicated than my usual frame. This one, I had to cut and prefit and then paint the pieces black. I then glued and pin nailed in place and touched up any gaps with black.

    Coffee/Wine Project

A little project I did for the wife after she saw something similar at a Kohls. She wanted to buy it and I refused claiming I could do better! The top piece miter joints were a little off, but I'm probably going to change the top out so I can put an empty bottle of wine inside it with the lights in the bottle.

  12. Here's a fun historic project you might like working on. It is an ornamental old fashioned tavern sign with a 1776 label at the bottom. You might have seen a sign like this had ou been traveling on horseback through the country side in the old colonial days. Also included a video of the put together process. Stack cutting help

I have never seen a hold down foot that does more than get in the way. If you have it so snug on the wood to keep the layers together it creates real drag and you risk breaking off the delicate bits on fretwork. The foot can help new scrollers until they get used to cutting as it helps with that terrifying moment when the wood starts hopping up and down scaring the stuff out of us, I love doing that at presentation, it really gets peoples attention. LOL. yes I can be mean.

  15. My wife really likes ancient Egyptian art so I thought I'd make her an Egyptian artifact. Yeah, I know, sounds kind of crazy, but it was fun doing it as it's for her birthday. This is made of two layers of plywood and a mixture of white sand and sawdust glued to the scroll cut plywood. My wife likes it, so, so do I. I hope you do too.

  24. Finished this puzzle today, never thought I would finish it, they say no glue needed but I found out different, some pieces fell out on me and I would have to glue them in, as they were very delicate, and having big fingers that didn't help either, and you need plenty of patience.

  37. When I stack hardwood like walnut or maple 3 pieces are usually my limit. Some of the softer solid woods, like pine and poplar, I will stack 4 but I will not to exceed 1" total in any stacks.

  41. Our club was asked to come up with a project that could be sent out to the Seniors in Oshawa. With the lock down in place, the seniors who would normally come to the center for activities were being sent an monthly goodie bag that also included an activity. We were asked to come up with the July project so we did a group effort. I did the scrolling of the flowers and leaves and the turners in the club did wooden pots. (This was an idea that I borrowed from Rolf from a number of years ago). The total was 160. Been a great project to get a number of our club members involved and hopefully some seniors a break in these troubling times. Would be a good project for Senior homes too,

that is most defently fantastic and beautiful!! now is that on a reall gun or is the whole gun the project? we always had bb guns and 22s and shot guns in the house when i was growing up....something like that would have been beautiful on them . my dad hunted a little bit but mostly they were just used to shoot at cans and targets

    It made me chuckle.

I saw this and had to cut it, for no other reason than it made me chuckle. Straight off the saw so no finish or finesse or backer added yet. 20200712_175958[1].mp4
