Back to planes. I belong to a forum on Facebook dedicated to recip engine powered corporate aircraft and I have been adding some of my related aircraft plaques to that group. The A-26 was a modified A-20 Marauder used in WWII with the same R2800 radial engines. It was operational in Korea and Vietnam as a ground attack aircraft. As they went out of service many were bought by private operators and modified for corporate transport use. The On Mark company upgraded several, (40-60) removing the bomb bays and military equipment and adding corporate interiors with seating for 6-8 passengers and additional side windows and upgraded avionics. The aircraft was fast at 360 mph and was popular with corporate operator until the advent of turbo prop and jets like the G-I and Learjets. I used the Umbria font. I like it because it doesn't need any bridges. Size of plaque is 11 x 14 BBPW with 1/4" backer. Finish, Shellac with gloss Lacquer.9 points

howling wolf bookmarks
Tomanydogs and 3 others reacted to RabidAlien for a topic
Howling wolf bookmarks. Found these ovals (I didn't cut the outer edges at all, that's how they came out of the pack) at the crafts store (Michaels), next to all the popsicle sticks. They're MUCH better to cut than balsa (they were completely out of BB ply), cheap, and come 8 to a pack. These may be my go-to if I need to cut any more bookmarks. The craft sticks: https://www.michaels.com/wide-wood-craft-sticks-by-creatology/10433016.html4 points -

Tension or not?
amazingkevin and one other reacted to jerry1939 for a topic
For all you nice people that believe that tension should be releases to protect saw bearings and/or not shorten blade life; 1. When driving over a bridge, keep in mind that before the beams are poured, a lot of cables are tensioned in the form first & the concrete poured next. It is the cables that provide the tensile strength to support the load of the bridge & the traffic. Those cables have been under tension since the beams were poured. 2. Bearings. The bearings in your vehicle wheels & axles have had the weight of the vehicle on them since it left the factory. IF it makes YOU feel good to release the tension, by all means continue to do so, but there is absolutely no advantage to it. jerry2 points -
Now, If you were in Western Australia, I'd snap it up at $500. Before you purchase you Pegas from Bear Woods try @Denny Knappen he is a Pegas distributor. I've got one more move ahead of me and hopefully that will my last. Just looking in my shed makes me shudder.2 points

It's coming back how to make things thanks friend!!!2 points -
JT and I didn't always see eye to eye and somehow always managed to get into some heated topics.. Both he and I are passionate about our beliefs on certain things and many of those beliefs are opposite of each other and for some reason neither one of us could just let it go.. I do wish he would come back and participate again.. he is a wealth of knowledge and many people would benefit with his shared knowledge and experience..2 points

First fret box
Tomanydogs and one other reacted to Badgerboy for a topic
I spent some time this week cutting this fret box from the summer 2018 issue of SSW mag. Nice pattern although I was sweating a few bullets on some of the stems. Well either that our the fact that it is almost a 100 F outside with no cooling in my shop. Still trying to make a decision on how to finish it including using the marbling technique for the top they suggested in the article.2 points -

Quit looking at it. If it is doing what you ask of it its not worth driving yourself nuts about. I have a dewalt and also an old delta. Worst thing i ever did was look up what can go wrong with them because it always had me questioning every little thing. Same thing when I heard that people have a thing feeling that their socks are bunching up under their foot when wearing shoes. Like to drive me nuts until I realized i spent most days barefoot.2 points

If you are cutting the font with raised letters as in your picture, most text should not be a problem. If you are scrolling into the wood (as mentioned above) you need to do bridges. Remember to cut the weakest or inside parts first. A,B,G,O,P,Q,R. In some applications, I have actually painted in the bridges with the matching backing color. I would try a test cut and painting to see if it looks right before doing a final piece.2 points

I just joined this group and I would like to say "Howdy"! I have been Scroll Sawing for over 30 years now (Started off with a Sears Craftsman 16" saw) and for the last 28 years I have been using an RBI 20" Hawk. For our 50th. Wedding Anniversary on June 6th. of 2020 my wife bought me a brand spanking new RBI 26" Hawk from Bushton Manufacturing. I loved my old RBI Hawk and now I am totally falling in love with my new RBI Hawk! My old saw is going to be shipped to our dear friends in Mora, Minnesota so that they can get some use out of it and they can feel the love of a Great Machine! On my old RBI I taught both of my Daughters how to create gifts, then I taught all of my Grandkids how to scroll saw. Now I am starting to teach my Great Grandkids how to run the saw safely. This is my youngest Great Grandson Owen during his first lesson!1 point -

What tips/tricks have you learned this year?
Angelo reacted to barb.j.enders for a topic
I can so relate to the time issue. I stopped reading any of the blogs for a while because people kept putting in the time it took them to cut a project. I have realized that I cut at the speed and time I cut and it doesn't matter to any one how long it took. I don't sell at markets, so there is no time line. The only one putting the "time" issue on an item was me. It is still frustrating seeing someone post something with a time frame and I wonder "HOW THE H3ll" did they do that in that time????1 point -

Hi Michael: Good choices given above - Fonts, just like anything else become a personal choice The only thing that really matters is that the customer is happy with whatever you choose Adding bridges to any font is easy enough to do, Show us what you end up with Fab41 point

This is the one I found most "cuttable" and a good looking font also: https://www.dafont.com/birds-of-paradise.font1 point
