  1. I got drawn into Covid-19/political debates for a couple of days on FB. Realized nobody has ever changed someone else's mind in the history of social media and I was not having any fun. So I went to my shop and made this and posted it on FB in a "guess a # between 1 and 500" giveaway.Time much better spent and I'm smiling again. Y'all stay safe!

    Braided Box

First off,I did not make this box. It's one I've had around the house. It was pretty, but plain, so I decided to spruce it up a little. The braid design was one I saw on a piece of leather. It was so striking to me that I wanted to see if I could reproduce it in wood. It came out okay, but there are some things I'd do differently if I was to ever do it again. Sorry about the blurred photo of the open box.

  5. This pattern is by Keith Fenton and found in CWWC August 2014, the last published issue. I used Red Oak 1/2" x 8" x 10" and backed with Baltic Birch plywood stained black with SamaN stain. It was cut on the Pegas Scroll Saw using Pegas #3R MGT blades. After sanding, finished with spray Shellac.

    Anchor

One of my customer asked some nautical pattern to make gift for his friend sailor and suggested to make anchor pattern. Usually I dont make patterns for request, but this time I like the idea and decided to make it, I also added naval steering wheel and rope. Video of making Anchor Anchor pattern

    Chick-nic Table

Ever since I saw the Meme about these I knew I needed to build one. (neighbors have chickens) Found a "new" pallet at my work that had only been used to bring in a large piece of equipment so was clean and fresh. And Voila! Chick-nic table!

  11. Tape probably would not have helped. The stain would go under it. I have taken a xacto knife an cut around what I am staining. The cut makes a grove to stop the stain from running. Don’t take much.

    First pice

This is my first pice. Made on a $25 Ryobi pin end. I learned a lot on it. When I look at all I see are my mistakes. I have a Cricut that I made the template on . Then traced it on the green tape, drilled holes and cut out. The finished picture is in bad lighting the stain is even. my questions are. 1. Are the pin end blades at the dutchman store better than Menards? 2. Puzzles look like some thing I would like. Where can I get full size patterns? I don’t have a printer. Thanks in advance for all of your comments.

  16. This was my first attempt on using different stains on the same project. I didn’t tape off the different areas so stain ran, especially on the horse. So to try and help the project, I used water colors to try and cover up some of the issues. Then added more on the reflection to draw attention. Probably won’t try this again!

    Hawk model 220VS

It's an old saw.. Guessing 1990 -92 area.. Has the motor that has some problems.. Has the weaker hollowed out arms on it ( though I've never heard of issues with those arms they made a point about them being weak in on of their video ads about a newer saw with stronger arms )... This saw being older will have the round barrel style lower blade holders.. nothing wrong with them but many people either loved or hated them for some reason.. I have one of these saws.. and I have no issues with it over any of my newer saws with other styles of blade holders.... Make note that those blade holders cost about $20 each.. and while you really only need one.. but having more with preloaded blades is really nice... I know you mentioned you was thinking about making an offer.. I know people see a Hawk at a price of $250 - 600 and automatically think it's a deal because a new one is $1200 -1400.. But there is a lot of upgrades on the new saws. while they "look" the same to the average joe... they are far from it.. There is not really much to go wrong with these other than just normal wear.. and these old ones did have the motor problems.. which can cost $350 to repair.. That saw to me.. on a good day is probably a $300 saw if it was in like new condition.. and I'm talking like brand new condition.. Many other folks on the FB groups etc will say it's a steal at the $300 ish price... but they don't know the difference between these very old saws to the newer models that are almost always available in the same price range. So with all that said.. personally if you're stuck on wanting it.. $200 -250 is where I'd be offering at best.. maybe $300 or better if there is actually proof that it's never been used.. But there are way too many newer Ultra models out there with the good motors and better user friendly upgrades in the same price range..

Size: 6 x 9 inches. My layered patterns do not exceed A4 format - it is comfortable to print at usual office paper without resizing. I know that some of my customers use Rapid Resizer Online to resize my patterns.

    First pice

Beautiful work. I have owned several Cricuts and other die cut machines since the first Cricut came out several years ago (back in 2006). Cartridges were never cheap and I don't know what used ones sell for now or how easily they are to find. While I still have mine and a ton of cartridges it is never used- I moved up to other cutters that use software that let you create and cut to them without the need for cartridges. There were two programs that you could get to create your own designs and work with fonts on your computer. Provocraft sued them though to prevent them from working with their cutters so they don't work directly with that brand. There are "workarounds" though so if you are ever interested in learning more on that, let me know. I would recommend getting a printer if you are wanting to regularly use patterns for your scroll saw. It would be much easier then be limited to the Cricut and their cartridges and you can get a printer relativity cheap (probably cheaper then getting a few cricut cartridges that can only be used with that machine). The printer would allow you to do more with a ton of free patterns from multiple sources like here in the Village library and from Steve Good's blog http://scrollsawworkshop.blogspot.com to name but two sources. (Steve has a few puzzle patterns). Then Al also gives away a ton of free patterns on his site http://baggetta.com and has some he sells, some of which are puzzles. The animal puzzles referenced above that Scott (Iggy here on the forum) does can be found on his site here: https://www.woodcraftbyscott.com - he sells them but they are created by Harvey Byler. If you don't have a printer, and don't want to get one just yet - you could take patterns that you get online and download to your computer and send those to print at a print shop like those at Office Depot, FedEx copy centers, etc. so that would be another option for you to consider if you found a pattern you wanted to use but needed to print out.

  33. I forgot yesterday, so I went out this morning, between rain storms. I used a frig magnet that look like polished rock, they are strong...and it stuck tight. So I think I'll order a sheet magnet from Amazon. Thanks for the idea Jim!

    Jewelry Box

I did this jewelry box pattern by Alex Fox over the weekend. Man...that's a lot of pieces for a little box! It's 1/8" BB ply done with a #1 Pegas blade. I think it would sell at the craft shows this winter, so I might get some 1/8" Walnut and Hard Maple from Ocooch and try it with hardwood.
