    My first ever 3mm cut.

Never having had the pleasure of cutting 1/8th Baltic Birch before, I bought some and this is the first thing I've ever done with it.

  3. I want to thank everyone who tried a pattern for this one for me. Russell I went with yours and it was a huge hit. He loved it!! I cut two, one for an autograph and one for Mr Pace to keep. He was very surprised. There's video of him signing it on my facebook page if anyone wants to see that. Courtys Scrollworks But long story short I can't say thank you enough to the amazing pattern makers in this group! You've come through for me on more than one occasion and always have top notch designs! Thank you again!

    Baby's First

Got my first great-nephew this year, so I had to do something special for the little guy. @rdatelle helped me track down the pattern and I cut it without the year, but I will sign and date the back. Cut from 1/4" butternut with Watco gloss lacquer. Got the frame from Sloan's as they were going out of business. If I do more, I will strengthen the base of the "B" as it is quite weak.

    Surf'in Woodie

The 1948 Ford Woodie is a true American classic. You can almost hear the refrain of a favorite Beach Boy tune, imagine the surfboards and smell the ocean breezes. Most were made from maple with a few beech models but almost all were prone to rot. Back in the 50’s and 60’s they were cheap but restored models now can run over 80K. It was a fun project of 1/8 BBPW on a ¼” backer. I used my paint, fill in technique on the grill and wheel wells bridges to give it visual continuity. Time to Hang 10!

    Baby's First

Nice work and will be treasured. We also got a new great niece and nephew, one on my side and one on hubby’s side. She is now 6 months old, he is 4 months old so yes, both were born at the start of the pandemic. Need to come up with their 1st Christmas ornaments myself, hopefully they will look half as good.

    Pegas rotary tool?

Thanks for all of the feedback. After doing a fair amount of research I decided to go with the Foredom 5240 from Klingspor’s. I friend of mine does more woodcarving than anybody I know and it was his recommendation, too. The price doesn’t seem to vary much from one place to another, but some don’t charge sales tax on out of state orders. This is an example of the woodcarving my friend does that convinced me to go Foredom. He has tried them all and I figured I’d take his advice. .

This is my first attempt making a clock. I had the pattern for years but never cut it. Pattern is from Wildwood Designs. Cherry Tree Toys has two of their arrowheads, but haven’t been able to find the others since the two merged.

    Hawk model 220VS

Very nice job on that cutting Carl!! Love my Hawk saws... and I agree with Scott.. I'd probably use a #3 blade.. My go to blade used to be a #5.. but more often than not anymore I go to the #3 the last couple years.. Keep up the good work and show us your projects..

    Hawk model 220VS

Nice job Carl. Scrolling does take practice. You develop a feel. Just keep at. Don't be afraid to experiment (woods, blade sizes, blade types, different type projects,...... ). BTW I would probably have used a #3 blade.

    Pegas rotary tool?

I have is very nice flex shaft tool from Grobet. I think it is just a chrome plated Foredom tool. I love it. My only problem is that it is mounted on one of my benches and so is not really portable. I got rid of the the rheostat foot pedal and replaced it with a HF router speed controller combined with a foot switch as used on scroll saws. I got tired of having my get lazy and allowing the unit t slow down or not keeping a constant speed. I control the speed with the router speed control. I only mention this as I have found it convenient.

    I'm so excited !!

Freddie is a TV character preformed by an American comic Red Skeleton. His was a TV show in which he played several unique characters. You did a wonderful job of cutting! I can only make one suggestion and that is to use the smallest blade with a high tooth count. I don't use a blade with reverse teeth because the wood is so thin and the fuzzies are easily removed from the back. The high tooth count will give you very good control when cutting detail. Nice Job!

    Hawk model 220VS

Thanks for your comment. I am pleased with saw, it performed beautifully. I think i used the wrong blade though, i should have used the 5 Olson instead of the 7, I was really struggling trying to thread the drilled holes. But it was just practice. Carl

    Pegas rotary tool?

Thanks for the info, Denny. I was undecided between the K35 and the Foredom, but after talking it over with my friend, I decided to go with the Foredom, which unfortunately is quite a bit more expensive. Your price on the Marathon is fantastic, as was your price on the Pegas Scrollsaw I bought from you.

    My first ever 3mm cut.

Your cutting came out great! I cut a lot of 1/8" BBPW and I always make sure to sand both sides before I start cutting. Sometimes there are loose fibers that can be pulled up when you remove the pattern. Even thin plywood can be hard on blades because of the glue. They dull fast and break but you can make very fine cuts with the smaller blades.

    Hawk model 220VS

My first little project on the new to me hawk scroll saw. I started thinking about scrolling just before last Easter and printed this pattern off of Steve Good's site. Kinda crude but i will improve, learned a lot. I have not used a scroll saw since the early 70's. Nothing like this, back then it was just furniture parts. I have a long way to go. I really like this saw even if it is 25-30 years old. Most of my stuff is from early nineties and earlier

    First pice

This is my first pice. Made on a $25 Ryobi pin end. I learned a lot on it. When I look at all I see are my mistakes. I have a Cricut that I made the template on . Then traced it on the green tape, drilled holes and cut out. The finished picture is in bad lighting the stain is even. my questions are. 1. Are the pin end blades at the dutchman store better than Menards? 2. Puzzles look like some thing I would like. Where can I get full size patterns? I don’t have a printer. Thanks in advance for all of your comments.
