  1. H. Botas pattern from the pattern department. 1/8" BB, 50/50 BLO, #2/0 Pike blade. Will not frame. I've stopped framing projects. I don't sell so unframed projects take up less room. Most things will go to the landfill eventually. If someone wants it I'll give it a couple shots of laquer.

A bit less controversial this time -- My sister has a play area for g-kids that's a pirate theme -- so I made her a little present -- 10 x 16 overall -- cut from 4/4 white oak with a #1 modified geometry blade - sanded to 400 with some new toys - I think it worked well -- the final picture is the original photo I found on line

I cut this a few days ago. 1/8" laminated BB, #3/0 and 2/0 Pike blades. Does not require a finish as the wood is already laminated.

  4. So I cut a few new puzzles this week (I already posted the Dinosaur scene: I also used my trim router for the 2nd time ever and did an Roman Ogee edge - first time doing an edge to a frame. It's been awhile that I've cut any frames and it's taking me a bit to get back into the swing of it, only destroyed 3 pieces of frame wood LOL It's kind of hard to see in the pics, but the arrows "point" the way LOL Frame #2 The both need staining/finishing Here's the colored dino set in one of them Thanks as always in advance for reading!

    why do....

I started the Lord's prayer 20"x40" and almost as soon as I started I found out the cabinet backer was real cheap wood. Letters started to fly off but because of what it was I kept going. Experience is something no one can take from you.enjoy the good times!!!

  7. As you probably know, making straight cuts with a scroll saw requires a lot of concentration. As I outlined in the thread: I am going to be making a lot of frames to send to friends. Today, I cut 10 frames and each of those frames has 76 individual straight cuts. That's one heck of a lot of concentration. Here is photo of the stack of cut frames: I used a Flying Dutchman #5 Ultra Reverse blade and the wood I 6mm thick Baltic Birch plywood. I guess that I could have staked these at least two deep, but I am not fond of stack cutting.

  8. I just starting to make frames again the first one was useable but not perfect so I boufht a framing strap and the 2nd one came out real good I bought the strap from amazon for $16 inc. tax.free shiping. and Il used the brad nailer to make sure it holda up OK and filled in the nail holes with wood filler . (amazingKevin I am sorry about no pictures just take my word for it) IKE

    Got new wood. !!!

I wrote a little while back about buying some 3mm ply and bemoaned the fact that it was cutting really, really badly. Well, with a little help from a friend on FB here in the UK who sent me a link for where he buys his from, I actually got some 'decent' wood. The difference is like night and day. It's amazing. Yes, it's more expensive but wow, well worth it as you can see from the photos. This is the 'back' of the two woods after cutting. .Yeah, I'm one happy bunny today.

If that happened to me more than the last two letters would have went flying across the shop to never never land. I hope you have better luck the second time around.kmmcrafts Kevin I'd say a chance meeting at the Wood Expo in a couple of weeks but I am going up one of the three days to get some things on sale just don't know what day. Too bad they aren't having seminars this year.

    Excalibur Rebuild

My wife bought it through Amazon. I Could not get the 30 day rebate from Amazon i missed it by 5 days. I then sent to General International complaining about excess Vibrations and noise. I mention that it was a Fathers day Gift and i felt bad for my wife & daughters as it was there money spent in good faith for a product. I think that may have embarrassed them. I called a few times telling them it was a gift they should make it right. I then recieved a email from a Jory Thomas of G.I.power products wanting to know more about my problem which i explained again i used that gift thing. He suggested couple of things to try. I told him i had already tried these i seen them on scroll saw Village forum. Again i think he realized that the forum was not a good thing for them. Today i was told a new EX21was being shipped and it would gone over to insure that it would be a good machine. So i should see a new saw in a few days. I will keep you updated. In my opinion mentioning to them that it was a Gift may have helped. I am not to good at writing on Computer so i hope this makes sense. I also found that Claim phone number was not correct my daughter found the correct number 1-844-877-5234.

  18. Nice work. I'm curious, looking at the pic of the "L" how big was the bit you used to drill a hole for the blade and where did you drill it so it doesn't show along the edge of the cut somewhere? I ordered a pin chuck for my drill as it wont close down enought to tighten on my very small bits. I'm guessing you use a bit that is no larger than the blade kerf itself? Thanks

    why do....

It'd be great to meet up sometime.. This year I have plenty of lumber so I won't be buying any lumber.. If I understand it correctly they aren't having the Expo.. only having sales on the lumber... I have enough lumber to last me well into next year and probably longer.. The only thing I could use is a few sheets of BB ply.. I'm not going to make it to the show this year as I said.. I have plenty of lumber thanks to my brother giving me a lot of cutoffs etc from his sawmill.. I should go one of these days and pay them a visit.. I don't think I've been there this whole year.. maybe I did go January or Feb.. They all probably think I got the Covid and croaked, LOL There is a store up there that my wife really likes to go to... so I usually drop her off and head over to Johnson's to look around.. but with the Covid it had been shut down and also we both have been very busy so we just haven't gone out shopping much at all.. Our 27th wedding anniversary is on the 11th.. this show timing every year seems to make it tough to take a trip etc.. so with most of the expo cancelled out and I don't need the lumber.. The savings on a few sheets of ply isn't such a big deal with everything else being cancelled out I guess we'll be doing something else.. We usually go to the frontier days and there is always a lot of events going on in the small town.. Thinking we may take a small road trip this time.. Hopefully this will all be behind us next year and more back to normal and they'll run the full show with seminars etc.. SO.. If they run out of lumber or plywood it's not my fault this time, I'm saving it all for you..

  37. Thanks Frank! You might know...one of the few times I don't put any info someone wants it. I just threw it up here this morning while getting the last couple of pieces together for the fair. I've got an entry this year. I cut it from 1/4" Baltic Birch ply. Paint from Walmart...Candy Pink I think was the spray can for the wings, and the ribbon is Apple Barrel brand acrylic in Princess Pink. You'll find that in the crafts. After the fair I'll probably shoot it with a couple coats of gloss or semi-gloss poly. I think it's about 9 x 7 so it could be a wall plaque, or framed, or whatever...I haven't decided yet. I use black table covers on my shows, so it stands out just laying there.

    why do....

Yup! When cutting delicate fretwork I don't think I take a breath the last ten minutes of the project! And I talk to it, nice at first..."OK Baby, easy, come on, etc. BUT...If it cracks or breaks...well...I can't put that on this forum LOL I try to "creative engineer" it to work around the break, especially if the broken piece "takes off for the Bahamas...LOL" But, there are those times... like on this pattern there WAS a third tiny little man. He didn't listen to me when I was talking to him and broke twice anyway....SO I WHACKED HIM! The other two look good in the space anyway...and they behaved.

  42. Here is a good start.. https://www.youtube.com/user/SarbarMultimedia/videos https://www.youtube.com/c/Thinklaser/videos https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCwdToptD2gZucQsMrOAnFhA https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCDyNU1TLem7uaiAQDV6ZsvQ And then our very own housekeeper here on the village... Travis https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCt-bWfn-g1ELeE-7aJcsDFA I've probably left out a bunch of places.. I've been interested in these for a very long time.. Steve Good I think did some laser stuff too at one point.. also a lot of the CNC router stuff kinda pertains to the Laser stuff somewhat too.. I've followed some of these for probably 10 years.. There is a couple good groups on FB as well and a few forums.. They used to be forbidden to talk about on any scroll sawing forums and groups but more and more people are getting interested.. Maybe Travis should put in a laser and CNC category ... Lot's of folks here somewhat have interest.. but refrain from talking much about them much because these machines was and still is very much hated on by those that do what they call Hand Made done with the hands.. Technically a lot more to these and CNC's that is done by hand than what most realize.. If the internet was around back in the day I bet you could read old arguments about the Treadle vrs Powered scroll saw... Now days is about craft shows and online selling... scroll saws and lasers / cnc's etc etc.. times change..

    New project

I cut the dados deep enough to accommodate the thickness of the blank and the backer board. The width of the dado depends on how much reveal I have on the work piece. Again, the frame is made to fit the project, rather than fitting the project to the frame.

Similar happened to me just before the summer. I cut a puzzle, and while I was sanding a large piece broke off and went flying who knows where. I did as @trackman suggested and just as I finished cutting the replacement i happened to look under a cart and there was my missing piece. So, yeah I feel for ya for sure LOL

    why do....

I will offer this only because it has happened to me. By the time you get to the end of a project, my may lose some of your concentration and also just become lack-a-dazical. I have no idea how to spell that. Anyway, when you first start, you are 100% into it but by the time you near the end, your mind has moved on to the next part of the project. It's just human nature and something to be worked on. I'm 77 and still trying to do it but each day, the solution is farther and farther from me. Best of luck.
