    Heart jewelry box

Hello friends, I show you this work I did. It is a heart-shaped box, it can be used as a jewelry box. With 5 parts of 9mm mdf each I hope you like the idea, thank you in advance for your comments. Greetings to all.

    Shout out!

I would like to give a BIG SHOUT OUT to, one of our own, Dennis Knappen or Artcrafters in Dayton, Tn. Here is a litle reason why. As I have mentioned before I am still a newbie and only been here in SSV a few months now. When I first started to do scroll saw work I did a lot of research about things like Pattterns, Blades, Wood, etc., which led me to a number of websites that sold such Items. When I needed Bldes, I ordered some from a number of different sites. What I could not understand was why it took over 10 days before they shipped and then stipulated there was a 16 day shipping window. Found another site that did better, but was from Canada. They took 3 or 4 days to process the orderr and then it was still well over a week in the mail and, of course, they charged shipping fees. I was introduced to Dennis through one of the posts hereon where they discussed the Pegas Saw and how he was able to provide a good cost on the 21" Pegas. So I contacted Dennis and upgraded through him.....the price was very good and I'm very happy. Recently received an advertising E-mail from Dennis offering a good deal on some small twist bits and offering free shipping with a min $35 order. I happen to be looking for some small bits and visited his Artcrafters Website to check out the bits and some blades I was wanting to order. I placed my order Last Sunday and my oder arrived today. Considering it was just shipped USPS first class, that is what I call great service. THANK YOU DENNIS. Would love you to make free shipping for orders over $35 on blades and such a standard on your site (at least for SSV members).

    Couple more Eagles

Screaming Eagle Is all 1/8" BB ply and loose set into a Pine custom made 11X14 frame. The original artist is unknown and the cut was made using a photo of another cutting. I really like the Screaming Eagle design but wish I could find a real pattern as the results of cutting from a photo is poor and there is some distortion. My cutting using spiral blades for the flag areas was a mistake as it is raggered at best. I decided to add color to the flag and had the cutting been better I think adding color to the flag was a good idea. The raggered cutting was not quite as evident untill the color was added. Will probably hang this somewhere in the workshop to remind me to be more careful on blade selection. The Eagle Feather is cut from 3/8" thk solid Oak over a 1/8" BB ply backer and mounted of a painted black backer and fixed into a custom made 16X8 Oak frame. Pattern from Steve Good's Scrollsaw Workshop website.

  12. I have been away from home for a couple of months, so I am way behind here in The Village. I would never find the time needed to make comments on every piece here so i just 'liked' them and after I get back in the groove I hope to be able to have the time to make comments, as I love looking at everyone's projects and this month was a winner, in deed. So to sum things up, "Everyone's projects are lots of fun and well cut. I sure enjoyed looking through them. So glad to be a part of this group" Dick heppnerguy

    Shout out!

I agree, Denny dealing with has been a joy. Regarding shipping. I have been providing a hardware kit since 2013 for a Brian Law clock project that was published in an issue of SSWWC. I sell the kit at a very fair price as my primary reason for making and selling it is so that more folks will attempt this project. Getting back to shipping. I either include the shipping in the overall cost or charge for it. My cost includes the packing, the shafts are all individually wrapped so they don't get nicked. The package itself and then of course the postage. My out of pocket has been about $6 just to ship a kit that I charge $24 for. For me this is part of my hobby but as a business a bit of a fee for time should also be included. The folks that supply us with blades etc. are not getting rich on this. JMO

  21. That phrase, "if looks could kill".....yeah. Gluestick wasn't the problem. Applying the glue wasn't the problem. Watching the pattern peel up and start flapping around like a politician in a compromising situation.....yeah. I may have used some of my golf-words.

    Latest Cuts...

I did a bunch of cuts this week. The cuts came out OK but the staining, not so good I won't be staining these anymore and will be trying the Mineral Oil bath thing. No clue what happened to the Poodle and the Penguin, but boy did they come out crappy - samples only now I guess. Leo and Papillon came out fair The Manatee came out the best I think - the only one I didn't stain... I did a bunch of framed cuts also, I'll post once their mounted and finished Thanks as always in advance for reading

The Wooden Teddy Bear does charge shipping on orders placed at the home address on all of the orders including blades! If you order from Mikes Workshop, which WTB owns, there is no shipping charge on blades, drill bits, anything that shows on that site and the time to receive the order is very good! I used to kid Mike about his having a direct route with the post office about the amazing time to receive the order once he received it! Erv

The way the stain soaked into the end grain on the cut lines makes it look like they had a finish applied before staining. Tom

  42. It's a tremendous bargain for $125. I have, exactly, that saw and would not accept less than $1,000 for it. It's a great saw that I have used extensively for 16 years and I have no problems in getting the (very few) parts that I needed for it.

  49. I sure miss our local car shows. Lately I'm stuck on designing cars and aircrafts. My wife will put the pictures in sketch mode in PhotoShop and I'll clean them up in MS 3D paint. I like the '30's, 40's and '50's cars and ones that are unique or one offs. The clean up can take a few days (I'm a nitnoid)
