  3. Two Charles Dearing patterns I have cut recently. I colorized one and kind of regret doing so now. You be the judge. The deer are just on a leather seat for the pic and the wolves are on a blue blanket. I don't know how I plan to frame them yet. The deer pattern is about 9" x 11" and the wolves are about 10 1/2" x 14 3/4". Cut with my go to #5 Ultra Reverse blades. I haven't practiced with spirals enough to be comfortable with them. Thanks for viewing and comments welcome. God Bless! Spirithorse

  6. I read the post about how to do away with fuzzies and I believe I have stumbled upon a way not have them in the first place, hence no torches, files or other devices to get rid of what is no longer a problem. What I found out, at least for BB Ply, is using the right blade and the fuzzies just did not happen. I have recently switched to Pegas #3R mg and here is a photo of my project just after cutting it with NO sanding or touch up of any kind. I see no fuzzies in it. Take a look and see for yourself. comments welcome Dick heppnerguy

  7. One of our good friends passed away yesterday. She had Lou Garrig's disease. Her last few months she had a very tough time even breathing with her machine and was unable to even speak last month. I cut these Sue Mey's plaques and give them to anyone I know who has lost a loved one. They are less money than flowers and I hear 'thank you's" from people I made them for in the past years and how they cherish and have them hanging as a reminder that others care also. Dick heppnerguy

    Workshop Sign

I have had this old wrought iron Native American sign holder hanging on the side of my workshop and finally cut out a modified Steve Good sign pattern for it.

    More cleaning...

Another one done out of the stack of projects waiting to be completed! Lots of cuts (definitely start in the middle, and there's a couple of spots with a loop-inside-a-loop that need to be cut before the outside loop is cut, so plan ahead), but for the most part most of the cuts are long, straight lines. Lots and lots of long, straight lines. Great one for sitting back, firing up an audio book, and just letting the sawdust flow. 3/4" whiteboard, used Pegas #5MG blades (three, I think). Pattern is by Sam Custodio and is posted up on his Facebook page.

    CA Glue

I use a fair amount of it , thin, medium and thick. It is a must have for wood turners. It is great as a pen finish and I recently finished a shift knob for my car. I do threat it with respect, not only the glue aspect but also the fumes are not healthy. When I am done with my CA glue I just squeeze the bottle while upright into a paper towel to make sure there is no residue in the nozzle. I also have a pin vise with a tiny drill bit to open it if need be.

    Acrylic butterfly

Just finished this for the wife. It is sitting on top of a LED light. I made her a Snowman a few years ago for it. 1/8" acrylic sandwiched between two pieces of 1/8" BB. I used a FD UR2. It cut really smooth.

  13. Well, I did it, for $120 I got the Excalibur from 1998 (with Seyco's Bill of sale) and a Hegner Multimax -2 (that needs a lot of TLC). I think I did good!

  14. Katy (Terefenko) Larouche was my first teacher. She taught me in grades 1,2, and 3 at Hearst Public School (there was no kindergarten). Katy is a very enthusiastic person and my education got off to a great start with her. But, in the three years she taught me, I never gave her a gift. Here is a photo of Katy and me taken about 10 years ago. At the margin I have superimposed photos of the two of us taken from grade 1 and grade 3 class photos: At 92, Katy lives in her own home in North Bay, Ontario. I recently visited her both on my way up to Pellow's Camp and on my way home. She is full of stories and wisdom and really value my time with her. This time, she sent me away with a couple of dozen ginger cookies that she had baked on the morning of my visit. I need to reciprocate and I decided that an apple for the teacher is in order: Katy more than deserves that accolade. The pattern is by Steve Good.

I've used ca for years. Before replacing the cap I give the bottle bottom a very sharp rapp on the bench to clear the tip, then replace the cap.

    Laugh

I cut this for my doctor, we always have a laugh when I go to see him. The wood is Elm and it was a to cut, I used 5 different blades before I found one that actually liked the wood and that was a Olsen Mach#5. Marg

DO NOT INHALE! Just kidding of course. I will cut MDF on rare occasions if absolutely necessary. I don't wear a dust mask but I use dust collection top and bottom of both my saws.

Nicely done, thanks for sharing it! I find it amazing you guys all have "a piece of": mahogany, zebra, oak, walnut, cherry etc. just laying around, not doing much just minding it's own business LOL

    Vise and Halloween stuff

Hi Jes: The Vice that you show is also good for holding Compound cut patterns After you cut the one side, flip it over and clamp it into this vice, This way everything stays together until you finish the second cut. Fab4

  40. Thanks, that worked. As you can see, I now have very long hair. The last time it was cut was February. My regular barber has decided he does not want to risk COVID-19 and I am soon going to have to find someone to trim my hair.

    CA Glue

When my bottle of ca has the end closed with dried glue, I take a knife and pop off the plug. Cut from the bottom of the plug on the side of the nozzle and cut towards the end of the nozzle. Might have to take a couple of cuts, but it will pop out the plug in the nozzle. Tom

    CA Glue

I often use ca glue to stack cut, I over size the boards a bit then putting a drop on each corners and on the edge clamp for a few minutes and it is good to go. It is easy to separate with a slim drywall scraper.

  46. I make a mineral oil beeswax mix or linseed oil beeswax mix using a crockpot and putting in tins. After the beeswax has melted and the oil blends with wax it is good to put in tins. I give a tin with each cutting board or cheese cutter that goes out the door as gifts.

  47. I don't know this for fact... it's only what i have read on various sites... including toy making sites.. All wood finishes and paints sold in the USA is technically child safe once fully cured... I use the Danish oil rather than a top coat for puzzles because Danish oil has a small amount of polyurethane in it to help protect the wood... technically it's quite a process to get a top coat on all sides of the puzzle pieces... and there is no real simple solution to finishing / sealing them.. The Danish oil is a better choice ( matter of opinion I suppose ) than mineral oil because it does have the small amount of poly to help protect and offer a slight amount of sealing.. not very much poly though so this sealing is minimal amounts but better than just oil IMO... While you have no control over what a person that buys the puzzle does with it.. I personally wouldn't recommend someone giving them to children small enough that is still putting things in their mouths anyway.. Each of my puzzles has a Choking Warning card in it so they shouldn't be giving them to small children anyway..

  48. Some stores sell a product that is more environmentally friendly. It’s fine for cleaning paint brushes and accessories after using oil based finishing products like Polly Or lacquer. It’s is milky and not suitable for mixing with oil based finishes. Here in California, we couldn’t buy regular mineral spirits for awhile. In the County I live in (Ventura Co.), I can now find it at any hardware store. Ray @octoolguy say he can’t find it where he lives (Orange Co.). Just make sure it doesn’t say “green” On the label. If you can’t find regular mineral spirits, you can order it from Amazon.

  49. It's a tremendous bargain for $125. I have, exactly, that saw and would not accept less than $1,000 for it. It's a great saw that I have used extensively for 16 years and I have no problems in getting the (very few) parts that I needed for it.
