  4. I have loved this pattern ever since I first saw it and after Brenda posted hers, it jogged my memory and I finally got around to cutting it. Thank you, Brenda for your help with this one. I actually stack cut it and have one more to figure out what exactly I am going to do with that one. Might put it on my garage wall or give it to a family member or friend. who knows. I cut this on 1/4 inch BB Ply and used my 'go to' blade,(#3R MG Pegas) for all of it. Dick heppnerguy

  5. My lady uses a local Chiropractor who is a real nice friendly guy. She has been showing off my projects to him and he wants me to use his watting room walls to display some of my work, which I plan to do. In between other projects I put together a pattern for this 5 1/2" X 21" Plaque to hang in his office. I used two layers of 1/4" thick Poplar. Backer layer painted Black. The small script font is Birds of Paridice Font from dafont.com. Scrollable by just adding a few bridges with Pegas 2/0 MGT blades. Did have a couple of repairable problems that you can see if you look close....on the wall from a few feet away it wont be noticeable. My bigest problem with this plaque was trying to cut toward the ends with the panel rotated directly at my stomach...my arms are really not long enought to see and control the cut. When rotated the other way the panel just cleared the saw but my light arm kept getting in the way. Gotta be more careful about the project size in the future . The second project is a slightly modified Russ Beard Eagle (#1) pattern downloaded from the laibrary. The modification was to eliminate the small frame as part of the pattern and added a little detail to the bottom to make the patten 11" X 14" friendly. Top panel is 1/8" BB Ply and the bottom layer is 1/4 Walnut solid Core plywood staind dark Walnut. Lacquer Finish. Pegas #2/0 and #0 Spiral balades The panel is set loose into a store bought frame from Hobby Lobby. I know, lots of Eagles! Kinda my thing...still have a bunch more eagle patterns waiting.

I recently asked for a pattern to be made for my daughter of her father in law who passed away recently, well I had 2 very nice patterns made for me, so I asked my daughter to choose and she chose the one by Jim Blume put I would also like to thank TDpainter for taking the time to also make a pattern I really appreciate it. This was cut in 3mm ply. Sorry about the shadow that covering part of the photo. I added the dates and the plane, he was a one eyed Bombers supporter. Marg

    Old pickup

I decided to remake one of my fretwork pattern to multi-layered one, and here is what came out of it. If you find cutting advanced fretwork difficult - layered one is much easier and looks more interesting. Video of making Pickup project Pickup pattern

  16. I got a custom made logo burner from Chris @ https://wolverinewoodcraft.com/ He did a great job and the quality of the brass Iron is excellent. I can either burn directly on the piece or make “coins” to hand out or glue on the back of a piece.

  17. Rubber Stamp work pretty good and they are cheap. You can get ink that will stick to about anything.

I switched from blue tape to clear shelf liner because of that. And I always sand before. I also have been using full sheet shipping labels, print pattern on the label, peal & stick to liner done! No more lift and no mess. I think Kevin put me on to that trick late last year. I also use a 4" squeegee that has felt over one side. I think body shops use these to put on wraps and stripes, works great for liner and patterns, Amazon. I haven't heard the Shellac trick before, may have to try it.

i seldom use shelf liner anymore because of the wood fibre lifting on removal. I think it is the quality of the BB that our lumber yard is getting now.. Wood spirits work fine for pattern release or a heat gun. thanks for the tip on shellac. Bamboo ply hasn't been available where I live would like to try it

Bamboos are evergreen. perennial flowering plants in the grass family. The 'wood' is going to have different characteristics compared to the what we call wood from trees. Bamboo cutting boards are very tough and have great strength. Bamboo flooring is also a tough surface and it grows so fast it can be harvested faster then traditional trees. Its not exactly wood in a sense. RJF

  30. I also used craft paper on mine. I usually do not do that but I thought the color was perfect. I sort of considered the pattern to be making it's own frame so left it as it was. Thanks for posting yours. Dick heppnerguy

  39. Looks like a Baritone Horn. Grandad on dad's side played TWO of them AT ONCE! Dad was third generation musical Vaudeville. Great grandpa played Two trombones at once sitting in a chair working the slides with his feet. Grandpa played two baritone horns at once,( and a ton of other instruments), even played them during a TV interview on his 99th birthday. Dad's favorite was a trumpet, he even played with the great Bob Wills at the Cain's Ballroom in Tulsa. That is a cool Baritone! Wonder how many years it took to make it...LOL

  40. I find spiral blades work great for portraits like the eagles and others, but I just cannot make them work for straight or curved smooth lines, especially when cutting fonts or the like. Thanks

I cheat and spray glue directly onto pattern and fix onto wood and then wipe white spirit over it and it falls off.

I have also had this happen. But then I also started sanding before cutting and so far problem solved.

  43. You learned how to ride a bike because you wanted too. Once to master the spirals it becomes second nature to you.the trick is move half as fast cutting and a tight blade. You can do it. Now talk me into being able to bend notes on the harmonica. I played 65 years and still can only bend on note#6???

  46. I glue my business card (which I sign, date and include the item's serial number) on bottom. I also take a picture of it and rename to jpg file to the serial number so if I get a call back or question I can look up what I made and any notes about that project. Larry

  48. I have a branding iron that I ordered thru Rockler's website. You have to heat it up with a torch. They also have an electric one that probably works better, but it was more money. With the one I have there is a lot of trial an error. You have to heat it up just right. https://www.rockler.com/search/go?ts=custom&w=branding

  49. I use a combination of my initials and the year for just about everything I make, from Christmas ornaments to furniture. I usually use a fine point Sharpie, but have used paint pens before. Nothing fancy, but it's the same for everything.
