  1. I have made one each for the married couples in our family. Somewhere around 30 of them. These will be going to the ones we exchange gifts with as well as those we do not. Everyone will know we are thinking about them this way. It isn't much but then the cost out of our pockets are minimal too. I am now in the process of making names for the grandkids and should finish them tomorrow. Dick heppnergyt

    Cracked Egg

G'day all, I have about 20 stand up puzzles in various stages of completion. This is a new one. I think I have shown the other designs at various times. He is 230 x 170 x 30mm. I scanned the pattern from a book I have, many years ago, can't remember the name of book off hand.

  5. Good health to all the inhabitants of this site. It has been about a week and a half since the moment when I dared to register here. And all this period of time spent here was used by me exclusively for studying the content presented on this site and viewing other people's topics. I myself, because of my not very sociable nature, during all this time have not created a single topic here and have not presented any of my work for review. But you have to start sometime, right ?! Actors Wilem Dafoe and George Clooney. Dimensions 300 × 210 mm. Plywood 4mm.

  6. Well, I couldn't get a pattern made for the 1936 Chevy Truck so I made up the bottom part and the clock to the picture in inkscape and cut away.. so yeah I kind of had a pattern but not really, LOL .. Kinda just cutting and working along the design as I went, LOL This came out well enough I had another order request for a Dodge truck.. so I did that one the same way.. I think if I do this any more I'll at least make the photo black and white to save on printer ink, LOL Cut these both out of Cherry using a #3 Pegas MG blade and some of the veining cuts was gone over with a FD New Spiral 2/0 blade.. That Cherry on the old Chevy I've had this piece for at least 3 years.. It had some real dark streaks in the grain and was much darker in the center of the board.. I never used it because it just never really "looked" like cherry even though it is.. I suspect it had some metal in it around that area maybe that made it darker stained.. as it had a hint of blue hue to it.. I never found any metal with the planer.. Anyway I think it fits the old 36' truck well I will say... working with a pattern is much easier, LOL.. but this was a fun challenge to see if I could do it this way.. and just made the projects that much more interesting to make..

    Spartan Executive

Spartan Executive The Spartan Executive was a corporate specific designed, all metal aircraft. The first model flew in 1936 and was owned by J. Paul Getty of the Getty Oil Company and was used for executive transport. The aircraft had a retractable landing gear and P&W R-985 450 HP engine with a top speed of 257MPH and a range of 1,000 miles. It was a single pilot aircraft with a either a 3 or 4 passenger configuration. Only a 36 were built of which 16 were later operated by the U.S. military. Production ended in 1940. There are 17 model 7W still registered. This plaque is 12 x 17 BBPW on 1/4" backer. I did my bridge fill in technique on the wheels and prop. Fun cutting on my Ex-16. The Spartan Logo and the small executive were the hardest part of this project.

    Scroll Saw

I haven't been in touch with them for quite a long time now, but I haven't really tried. Reading on FB groups etc.. it seems as if they've improved customer service greatly... but I can't vouch on that for sure. as I'm just going off of reading other peoples postings.. I hope they really have. They make a great saw.. made in the USA is a bonus too. for me anyway.

  11. Thanks to both @Iguanadon and @kmmcrafts for their help as I made my first clock. The insert is too small for the hole I don't have the sizing down yet for the insert, but I did find a workaround - I put a screen tension spring in the hole and it worked like a charm Anyway, here it is: Thanks as always in advance for reading

  12. "It is so cute" - it is the first what I hear when I show this project. I haven’t done 3D patterns for a long time (about a year), it’s quite difficult and takes a long time. But I don’t regret the time I spent on this new pattern - Christmas deer, I think it turned out great. It is quite small (5x6x2,2 inches), so it won't take much material. What do you think? 13. I cut this President Trump portrait last week and made a frame for it. I've already got one sold and another interested person. H. Botas did the pattern, I cut it in 1/4" Baltic Birch ply with #3 & #1 Pegas blades and finished with spray Lacquer. Then mounted it in a frame I made from 1 x 2 White Pine painted black with a black mat board backer. Get out and vote! We did today and beat the lines

A Pegas. I have only heard good stuff about them and as they are based up[on the EX21 which I have had for many years, I don't think I could go wrong.

    President Trump

I very much prefer the Trump item that I cut a couple of years ago: Just in case you think that this violates our rules here, I believe that it does not because Travis told me that a similar sentiment that I presented him with, namely 'Vote Trudeau Out' was OK.

    TrashPanda

Found this little guy over on Etsy ("DXFpage") and thought it would be a fun cut. Not too many pilot holes, maybe 25 or so, but.....dang. All that fur is just jagged lines and thin margins! So...yep, DEFINITELY a fun cut! Double-cut from 3/8" bbply, Pegas #1MG blades (two, I think). Its been a busy couple of weeks so it took me a lot longer (calendar-wise) than I thought it would, but probably close to 10-12 hours tops. The project will be stained dark, I'm thinking Minwax Ebony or Provincial, and I'm thinking about a couple of backer options...may just go with a flat ply backer, stained a lighter shade to contrast. I have a bunch of old pallet wood that would look cool, but I think it'll end up too dark even with a light oak stain. We'll see.

    Walnut Nativity

I like cutting this Nativity scene. Something I saw on Pinterest a few years back. Someone gave me a scrap piece of Walnut that was sort of good for nothing and perfect for this.

  25. I was in the shop all day. Some puzzle orders (good thing we have Scott and Harvey - how is Harvey, btw?). Shawl-Pin in the shape of a sewing needle (I knitted a vest for my sister 70th birthday and the shawl-pin will be there to close it. A tablet holder, because the chihuahua one immediately was acquired by my daughter. A lidded box (bottom turned on the lathe - lid and finial on the scroll-saw). Everything made from ScrapWood.

    President Trump

Not a chance... I find that extremely insulting as a United States Veteran (as are many on here). Regardless what we think of whoever is in office at any given time...he is the President of the United States and Commander In Chief. I thought we were better than that on this forum to have that kind of a political bias and sarcasm. I simply showed a piece I had cut from a very respectable Australian pattern designer, H. Botas, and reminded folks to vote, as our elections are next week. I did not ask for a political opinion from someone in another country.

  35. Space does seem to be a issue in most shops. I planned on making a downdraft table that would fit on a countertop but after following this thread I think I have more space under the counter for a 2'x2'x30" tall mobile table. Sorting through unused material & supplies to make the space may prove to be the bigger challenge.

    Laminated MDF

Most of my customers use plywood, sometimes hardwood. For such projects (layered) you can use any material, I recommend only thickness - 1/8 inch, also can be used 1/6.

    Scroll Saw

I have been a strong advocate for Hawk since purchasing my G4-26 back in 2005. It top feeds easily as the upper arm is spring loaded when you release the bottom blade clamp, that gives you a huge amount of room for feeding the blade. The same goes for bottom feeding lots of room. As with any saw that all takes practice. The front back stroke is adjustable to almost perfectly vertical. I have not heard anything from or about Hawk in some time, Kevin are you still in touch with them.? That said I would add a Pegas to that collection. Mainly for that fact that the table stays level and the blade moves for bevel cuts. I currently have a well tuned 16inch EX with Pegas clamps. So In my opinion I have the best scrolling capability for my scrolling needs.

    Laminated MDF

I have made a number of Alex's patterns and I have only used regular 1/8" Baltic Birch. I have looked at that pattern and I if I decided to make it I would use 1/8" Baltic Birch. I would just stain the backer pieces.

If money and room was no object I would buy a Hawk and a Pegas. I already have a Hegner Multi-Max 22V that has served me well for 12 years but I would like to try the some other saws.
