  1. I posted sometime back if anyone has heard anything about Namunolie. For those who don’t know him he is a pattern maker in South Korea. I got a PM from him today. The best I could make out of his message is he had a lot of rain in his area. So he had to move to a new shop. Was away from computer stuff for couple of months. Have to say his English is better then my Korean lol.

  2. This is our 2020 Christmas card that we send out to 36 friends and family members. This tradition was started due to our good friend ROLF, who so graciously showed his beautiful Volker Arnold ornaments that he mails out and my wife saw his post 3 years ago and the rest is history. The Christmas sentiment was composed and printed by Ann Marie and I supplied the scrolled ornament. The image is a reduced version of a pattern I found on Scroll Saw Village many years ago, I apologize for not remembering the designers name and the fact that my computer skills are so bad that I am not able to find that information. Unfortunately, this may be the last year that we mail these Christmas greetings, because the postal rate has increased so high, that it is almost prohibited. We purchased 3M bubble bags and I cut pieces of left over mat board to protect the ornament when it the stamps are canceled, last year that didn’t work, and many of the ornaments were damaged. One of the postal workers I went to speak to about last years problem suggested that I print “FRAGILE” on the envelope…Yea right, that’ll work. Sorry for the long post. Thanks for looking. Everyone BE WELL & STAY SAFE, Rick

Found this little guy over on Etsy ("DXFpage") and thought it would be a fun cut. Not too many pilot holes, maybe 25 or so, but.....dang. All that fur is just jagged lines and thin margins! So...yep, DEFINITELY a fun cut! Double-cut from 3/8" bbply, Pegas #1MG blades (two, I think). Its been a busy couple of weeks so it took me a lot longer (calendar-wise) than I thought it would, but probably close to 10-12 hours tops. The project will be stained dark, I'm thinking Minwax Ebony or Provincial, and I'm thinking about a couple of backer options...may just go with a flat ply backer, stained a lighter shade to contrast. I have a bunch of old pallet wood that would look cool, but I think it'll end up too dark even with a light oak stain. We'll see.

  6. I saw this TDpainter pattern a while back and just got around to cutting it. It has a special place above the fireplace with the urn that holds our 14 yr old orange tabby cat "BOO". He was a very good pet and companion for many years. We had to put him down last March, the DR thought it was cancer and at his age it was better for him. We miss him.

G'day all, I have about 20 stand up puzzles in various stages of completion. This is a new one. I think I have shown the other designs at various times. He is 230 x 170 x 30mm. I scanned the pattern from a book I have, many years ago, can't remember the name of book off hand.

  10. I have made one each for the married couples in our family. Somewhere around 30 of them. These will be going to the ones we exchange gifts with as well as those we do not. Everyone will know we are thinking about them this way. It isn't much but then the cost out of our pockets are minimal too. I am now in the process of making names for the grandkids and should finish them tomorrow. Dick heppnergyt

    Spartan Executive

Spartan Executive The Spartan Executive was a corporate specific designed, all metal aircraft. The first model flew in 1936 and was owned by J. Paul Getty of the Getty Oil Company and was used for executive transport. The aircraft had a retractable landing gear and P&W R-985 450 HP engine with a top speed of 257MPH and a range of 1,000 miles. It was a single pilot aircraft with a either a 3 or 4 passenger configuration. Only a 36 were built of which 16 were later operated by the U.S. military. Production ended in 1940. There are 17 model 7W still registered. This plaque is 12 x 17 BBPW on 1/4" backer. I did my bridge fill in technique on the wheels and prop. Fun cutting on my Ex-16. The Spartan Logo and the small executive were the hardest part of this project.

  16. The wife is making door hangers and she comes to the shop to have me cutting some stuff for her to use (happy wife is a happy life). Managed to cut some other stuff for the craft show Saturday. Bowls pattern from Sheila Landry, I cut some plexiglass to used on theLED base lights and since I used 1/8” BB backup with blue tape on to help the cut, we decided how about making napkins holder with them. Had time to cut the trivet, anxious to see how things turn out. I couldn’t resist to cut Steve Good pattern about “hand made with a scrollsaw” Enjoy

  18. When I had new granite countertops installed, I needed some corbels to support the overhang. I decided to do the four seasons and this is the one I choose for fall. The leaf "pattern" is from my yard and I kept the cutout for display in my shop.

  19. I thank Rich (goldfish) and Don (don in brooklin) for the elements that I utilized in the pattern that I cobbled together for this. It has temporarily replaced the seasonal rotating Welcome sign on our front door and will stay there until after Remembrance Day on November 11th. I dedicate this to Tip Pellow (my father) and Elmer Pellow (my uncle). They were both in the Canadian army in WWII and, between the two, fought in Italy, France, Belgium, The Netherlands, and Germany. Both of them survived the war but it took a tremendous toll and neither lived to old age. Both the foreground and background are Baltic Birch plywood. I painted the wreath attempting to give it and old and weathered look. Here is one photo of the door with one of its typical Welcome signs and another photo with the new wreath.

  20. Good health to all the inhabitants of this site. It has been about a week and a half since the moment when I dared to register here. And all this period of time spent here was used by me exclusively for studying the content presented on this site and viewing other people's topics. I myself, because of my not very sociable nature, during all this time have not created a single topic here and have not presented any of my work for review. But you have to start sometime, right ?! Actors Wilem Dafoe and George Clooney. Dimensions 300 × 210 mm. Plywood 4mm.

  23. This is a custom order request. The pattern is by Harvey Byler purchased from WoodCraftByScott.com. I enlarged the pattern by 10%. Cut at home on the EX21 using FD UR #5 blades. The wood is Poplar approximately 7" x 9". Sanded with the Mac Mop and dipped in Shellac diluted 50% with alcohol. Comments welcome.

  24. Thanks to both @Iguanadon and @kmmcrafts for their help as I made my first clock. The insert is too small for the hole I don't have the sizing down yet for the insert, but I did find a workaround - I put a screen tension spring in the hole and it worked like a charm Anyway, here it is: Thanks as always in advance for reading

  25. "It is so cute" - it is the first what I hear when I show this project. I haven’t done 3D patterns for a long time (about a year), it’s quite difficult and takes a long time. But I don’t regret the time I spent on this new pattern - Christmas deer, I think it turned out great. It is quite small (5x6x2,2 inches), so it won't take much material. What do you think? 26. Well, I couldn't get a pattern made for the 1936 Chevy Truck so I made up the bottom part and the clock to the picture in inkscape and cut away.. so yeah I kind of had a pattern but not really, LOL .. Kinda just cutting and working along the design as I went, LOL This came out well enough I had another order request for a Dodge truck.. so I did that one the same way.. I think if I do this any more I'll at least make the photo black and white to save on printer ink, LOL Cut these both out of Cherry using a #3 Pegas MG blade and some of the veining cuts was gone over with a FD New Spiral 2/0 blade.. That Cherry on the old Chevy I've had this piece for at least 3 years.. It had some real dark streaks in the grain and was much darker in the center of the board.. I never used it because it just never really "looked" like cherry even though it is.. I suspect it had some metal in it around that area maybe that made it darker stained.. as it had a hint of blue hue to it.. I never found any metal with the planer.. Anyway I think it fits the old 36' truck well I will say... working with a pattern is much easier, LOL.. but this was a fun challenge to see if I could do it this way.. and just made the projects that much more interesting to make..

  33. Autumn is certainly here. Leaves are dropping, the air is cool and the sun is low on the horizon. Some folks are getting snowed on. November always has me appreciating the change of seasons. Remembering the summer days, and looking forward to the Holidays ahead. This month, our scroll saw challenge is themed, Autumn. Post your scroll saw projects that say autumn to you. Is it potpourri boxes, candle holders, leaf trivets? Get creative. And when you post, tell us a little about it. I really enjoy the stories behind the projects. I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

    Dog Puzzle - Corgi

Thanks Denny, I forget there is such a thing as denatured alcohol.. I may try this.. I think it would dry much faster and maybe less smell than the Danish oil that I currently use.. Harvey is probably busy with custom orders.. I know I'm waiting on 6 new custom designs.. and I've ordered several the last few months.. I have more to order now again as well but I'm trying to not overload the system, LOL

Nice work Gary! I have sold about a dozen of those over the years. @FrankEV that is 50% boiled linseed oil and 50% mineral spirits, and no, you’re not stupid, just maybe a little uninformed .

  44. A friend wanted something for her front door with her grandkids' names on it.So I don't know if this is called segmented,or a puzzle, but it was different than anything I've tried before and was fun and challenging both.Cutting was the fun part,as usual, but figuring out what to cut and how to shape it was the challenge. The main thing is,I had fun and she was thrilled,so a win win.
