    Seasonal Plaque

In a post Remembrance Day "Wreath" by Frank Pellow I made the following comment: "Also a nice idea to hang a seasonal welcome sign. I have the "Happy Fall Y'all" hanging right now, just need to find a few patterns for the other seasons...snow is not quite appropriate here in Florida." I did some searching and could not find an appropriate pattern for Winter in Florida so I made this pattern. Words and trees cut from 1/4" Maple solid core Plywood and affixed to a 1/2" sanded plywood backer painted Oaisis Blue. Trees painted with acrylic craft paints. Plaque mde weather proof with multiple coats of spray clear gloss polyurethane. Come the Winter solstice I'll swap my "Happy Fall y'all" plaque for this "Welcome to Our Winter Wonderland" plaque. I've got some time to find and cut some appropriate patterns for Spring and Summer in Florida plaques. .

  6. I send my nieces & nephews an ornament every year. Here is what they are getting this year. The wood is spruce which were left over spindles from my neighbour's porch rebuild. I copied the pattern at 75% so it would fit on the spindles. The star is probably walnut. Free wood from a woodworking friend. Sue Mey pattern.

  8. The fourth custom order of the Dog and Cat Puzzles. This is called "Treed Walker Puzzle" and the pattern is by Harvey Byler. I used 3/4" Poplar approximately 8" x 10". Cut on the Pegas Scroll Saw using Pegas #5R MGT blades. The veining was with a #1R MGT blade. he finish is one dipping if a diluted Shellac solution.

  9. Hello again! Last time, I was so warmly welcomed here that I decided to look here again. First of all, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to all the participants who, one way or another, noted in my previous topic. I want to say a special thank you to those people who did not spare their precious time and were able to find and write a few warm words for me. I appreciate it. Well, now, I will continue if I may. Plywood 4mm. Magnificent Robert De Niro and a small openwork shelf.

Hi all! First time here, brand new to this whole thing, and finding myself currently addicted to this new hobby. My grandpa gifted me one of his scroll saws a few weeks ago. I've been waiting years because I love his work. So he taught me the basics - how to use the saw, blades, patterns (very different from my wood burning process), sent me here for tips and told me to start small. That last part I'm not so great at, so I know this has some rough edges, but I am pretty excited with my first project. You all have such beautiful work I thought I'd share too. Many lessons learned - number one- glow paint is not as cool as I hoped (very goopy) and I'm super excited to start my next project.

  11. I cut this 11X14 Alex Fox Pattern titled Eagle-Flag from 1/4 inch thick Oak solid core plywood, that I stained with Minwax Weathered Oak stain to enhance the Oak color. The cut panel was affixed it to a 1/4 inch thick Mahogany solid core plywood backer that I darkened with Minwax Mahogany stain to improve the contrast. The panel was finished with multiple coats of spray lacquer. The cut was done exclusively with Pegas #0 spiral blades. Cutting the Oak was slightly more challenging than the Maple or BB Plywood I usually use. Had to cut a little slower and even the cutting sound was different. After the cut was complete the vertical grain alignment produced an interesting look. The panel is loose fit into a solid Red Oak Frame which I made and also darkened with the Minwax Mahogany stain. The Frame was finished with multiple coats of clear Gloss Polyurethane.

    Hawk dust collection

I just finished a Dust collector for my 220 ultra using some hints L I got fro this forum. And some of my own. I am quite pleased with the result. I used the metro as, small cyclone and 6”pvc coupling for the collector. After cutting there was no dust on saw, just a few chips and no dust in the air. It kept the line clear. Pics show the condition after cutting those bb plywood ornaments there was no dust under the table as was usually. Need to get better pickup above table

  14. I suck at math.. but I come up with $0.33 per pattern.. When I bought my CD I figured I paid $0.18 per pattern.. I tried to talk Scott into putting together a "set" at a discounted price of Harvey's patterns.. Adds up to a large amount of money when you want a complete set.. but you pay full price.. Not expecting to pay pocket change per design.. but... if you want 400 of the designs at $3 each.. that's more than a chunk of pocket change, especially when you can buy a whole CD set like this at $80.. I've invested over $300 for the 113 puzzle designs I've purchased from Scott.. so your math is definitely off.. not saying mine is right either but $300 for 113 puzzles vrs $145 for 438 is a big difference

Quick project made from Mahogany. First time on 6 years of scrolling I seem to have lost a pattern, so I can't give credit to the designer. I have searched the village files, Steve Good, and all the others I use. Any ideas would be appreciated.

    55 Dodge Lancer

1955 Dodge Lancer In 1954 Dodge was on the edge of a possible bankruptcy but was saved with a 250 Mil. loan from Prudential bank. Dodge brought in designer Virgil Exner to bring on updated styling to attract new customers. All models had 2 tone paint. These models included the Coronet 2 and 4 door, Custom Royal and Royal Lancer in 2 and 4 door and a convertible Custom Royal Lancer. Transmissions were 3 speed shift and auto and engines ranged from 230 to 360 cubic inch V-8's. This model design was only produced in 1955 and 1956. Plaque in 1/8” BBPW with ¼" black painted backer with Shellac and Gloss lacquer finish

  19. It's from the Woodimals set, I couldn't tell you what book it's in because I bought the complete CD set.. I'm not sure if the Scrollsawer website store still offers these individual or not.. I bought the complete set of 450+ puzzle pattern CD set on sale a few years back during their holiday sale for like $80.. You might find the pattern by searching Woodimal patterns. The number for the specific pattern is Mermaid_ MD222D Edit: This is where I got my pattern, I don't see individual patterns anymore.. only cd's now it looks like. If you're into puzzles.. the CD is well worth the money.. even at $145 for the complete set. https://www.foxchapelpublishing.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=woodimal

Every year Dan @dgman and I do an ornament exchange and this year Brenda @Foxfold joined us. These are the ornaments that they both received. Sorry I did them so long ago I cannot remember and of the wood but I do try to just use Australian woods if I have them. Marg

  25. If interested in the Pegas saws, I would reach out to @Denny Knappen a member here In the village and a distributor through his shop Artcrafters. His website is here: https://www.artcraftersonline.com several here have purchased their saw through Denny. I don’t have a Pegas, but read good things about them, I do buy Pegas blades from Denny. like others have said, the Delta is more of an entry level saw and I believe the Pegas is a better saw.
    1 point
  26. The Pegas also allows for easy, repeatable tilting for bevels, inlay and such. It also comes with the Pegas clamps that will cost to upgrade the others. If you’re going to choose you might as well get ALL the bells and whistles.

  29. Hey Jack, welcome to the Village! I don’t have either saw but have followed comments about both saws on this forum and others. The Delta is basically a clone of the DeWALT of which I own. It uses unsealed bearings which tend to wear out prematurely. It does have a nice sized cast iron table that helps absorb vibration. I’ve owned DeWALT saws for over twenty years and enjoy using them, unfortunately, I’m currently on my third saw, and it’s starting to act up. So, that is what to expect with the Delta. The Pegas saw is an upgraded version of the Excalibur EX 21. The bearings have been upgraded as well as the blade clamps. The advantage of these type of saws is the tilting head. The table stays stationary while the machine tilts when bevel cutting. Both saws have a lifting upper arm to facilitate top feeding of the blade. The only down side of the EX type saw is they have smaller tables, especially in front of the blade. Most folks using these saws don’t mind the smaller table. There is a larger table available. Knowing what I know, I would definitely recommend the Pegas.

Very neat collection system. I am a little confused (may be a lot confused). In original post I see the stainless canister and blue cyclone. Is the stainless the vac? Would you please give the source and model of that? Thanks Sam

  37. Thanks Gents, The pattern is a fairly recent Steve Good my wife loved it, had to make a bunch. RAY I used 1” pvc from the cyclone to the clear vinyl from Lowe’s it has about 1/4” wall thickness and 1 1/4 Id. Had to work on it with a heat gun to get the kinks out 1” tee then 3/4 out tee. After those pics I cut a ring to go over the intake of the vac with tabs to hold the vac to the platform with 1/4” threaded rod similar to what I have holding the drum under cyclone. I think I will get 3/4 locline for above table and make a funnel for below. I made a muffler but I think it has too much back pressure have to redesign will wear the work tunes till I get to it. If you need any more pics just let me know. Bob

    Bond, James Bond

Sean Connery...what can I say other than R.I.P ? My childhood hero has died I guess I thought he would live forever. Many of the other actors that have played 007 in later years said they were imitators...Connery WAS James Bond. I also thought Roger Moore did a good job. This is a H. Botas pattern done in 1/4" Baltic Birch with a wipe of Watco Danish Oil Natural. When I make a frame I'll use a black backer. Helder also did an older Sean Connery, I may do that one as well. He was fantastic is a number of movies.
