Found this interesting Fret Loop pattern. Problem was that it was only for the top. I did some finagling on the computer to shrink the side panel. I was limited to the size because I only had a 5.5 wide piece of 1/4" oak and was able to squeeze it out of the 2' piece. Finish is shellac with gloss lacquer.16 points

Cut this one for my wife this past week. We celebrated our 17th anniversary on Sunday. 1/8" bbply, Minwax Honey/Natural stains. Took about 6-8 hours total, not counting the cold/rainy day that kept the stain from drying quickly. Note for the next time I do a Steve Good tab-n-slot box design: cut ON the line, not edged up to the line. Had to do a bit of filing on the slots, they fit tightly on the dry-run but there was a bit of swell after applying the stain.8 points -

Of all the tools I have owned, this is one I have probably enjoyed the most in the short time I have had it. I will post some pictures of my first projects later. I have made some stuff like the crest from my old regiment and a stand for my headphones. I have some other ideas, but right now it is 30 degrees in my garage, just a bit old to spend time out there. I am glad to find this forum and will be taking advantage of your experience and expertise.2 points -
I have had my Dewalt 735 for nearly 20 years and this year I upgraded the to a helical cutterhead. The difference in noise alone was worth the upgrade, I can actually carry on a conversation while it is running now. It was not cheap, but worth every penny.2 points

i built a DD into my workbench folling this guys video. for the center section with the dust veins i just ripped 3/4" down to 1" wide instead of all the routing( he coulda used a downdraft table to do all that routing!). it works great, costs less, and doubles as my workbench( not good to work on things with small screws, though). one thing i would do differently is run all of the veins at a diagonal to the dust port2 points

Dremel works well for me on a lot of the holes I drill too.. They just need to make them so you can drill with the 3" forstner bit.. then I'd not need a drill press, LOL I also find that the dremel isn't all that accurate for precise drilling in thick wood.. works great for portrait type of work but the plunge router attachment for the dremel has side to side slop.. you may not notice it with drilling thin stock... but you can drill a whole up to 7 degrees off without even trying to, LOL2 points

Thank you all for responding. Your information and comments are appreciated and I look forward to receiving the grommet and installing the grommet in the Delta and giving this machine some TLC with the 10/40 motor oil. May all your cuts never verve off the lines.2 points

I don't know the exact ones I buy.. I've used a little of this and that over the years.. so brands etc varies.. I try to buy the ones for allergies.. They aren't exactly cheap but I just reuse them over and over.. I take them outside and tap the filter on the light pole I have in my yard.. most of the loose dust falls off.. Once in a while I will either use the air hose or a vacuum to clean them up better.. I've been using the one I have right now for about 2 years, LOL.. The material looks just about like the same stuff as the outer filter on the ceiling hanging air filtration. I often wonder if one of those 3 or so inch thick furnace filters would work better.. I bet the price of one it crazy.. the one I use is just 1" thick I believe.. and 20 x 20 I just set it at the back of the fan and the suction of the fan holds it in place.. I've heard or seen somewhere where you can get aluminum mesh filters and spray them with something that makes the dust stick but will rinse off with a hose.. They are made much like a cooktop ventilation filters but on a larger scale.. imagine they aren't very cheap.. I try to get mine when they're on sale or something..2 points

Benchtop Downdraft Table
OzarkSawdust and one other reacted to OCtoolguy for a topic
Kevin, can you tell or show the furnace filter you are using. When I bought my filter(s) I bought a 4 pack of really cheapo filters for under $5. I used them all at once with a bungee cord holding them in place. They caught a ton of dust but I had to be very careful or if I bumped the fan, the dust would all fall out on the floor. I'm going to upgrade my filter and thought I'd ask you.2 points -
I bought a second box fan and a furnace filter set it right on the end of my sanding station / table.. A huge reduction of dust residual is noticed when I go into the shop the next day.. Quite a lot cheaper than one of these.. The downside is I have to take the filter off after every day and tap off all the dust..2 points

The pattern for this11X14 portrait is from Dugly Graphics Website. The cut panel was 1/4" solid core Walnut Plywood and afixed to a 1/8" natural BB Plywood backer. The cut panel was selectively colored with various color stains except the leaves which was done with acrylic craft paint. The panel was cut with Pegas 2/0 spiral blades except for the perrimeter border that was cut with a Pegas #5 MGT R. Don't know why, but this seemingly rather simple pattern gave me more fits than the much more complicated patterns I have previously done. The finish panel looks much better in person than the photo shows. When a image is superimposed onto a backer, such as in this case, shadows tend to be more pronounced and distract from the image. An 1/8" cut panel may have been a better choice. The panel is set loose, using framing points, in another simple frame, made form Red Oak that was brightened using Minwax Sadona Red stain. and then protected with spray Polyurethane.2 points -

Has this Method been tried yet?
kmmcrafts reacted to OzarkSawdust for a topic
I use : Duck Brand 1115496 Peel N' Stick Laminate Adhesive Shelf Liner, 12-Inch x 36-Feet, Clear from Amazon or Walmart, it coat about $6 for a 12" x 36' roll. Then print the pattern on the label, as others mentioned, and slap it on. Easy and works. WARNING: I used another brand once when I stopped at a Target...it didn't stick as well and left a sticky residue I had to sand off. Use Duck brand! Kevin told me about this method a year ago...thanks again Kevin, best tip I've got so far!1 point -

Awesome shop I only get 2/3 of my 990sqft. Garage I built before retirement. I couldn't afford to build it now that I have retired. $35,000 is harder to come by now.1 point -
That is a terrific pattern and you did a great job on it, well done. Marg1 point

I have that feature on my drill press. I used it a little at first but haven’t in quite a while. I drill all of my starter holes for fretwork with a dremmel. I have better control than with the drill press.1 point

I made a bowl with my wife's initial inlayed into the bottom. She also stole (I guess that's what you call it) several of my mini birdhouses. I think if you make it she will appreciate it more than you think. Especially if it comes with a $100 bill or a gift card.1 point

The grommet came out of my 560, I've not replaced it and still use it. I think it's purpose is to stop the blade tensioner rattling when there's no tension.1 point -
