  1. I know that I have not posted for awhile but I have been in my shop quite a bit lately. I made and mailed some things before I took a photo of them so they are not available any longer. Here are a few of the ones that I have made. A couple I cut a while back and sold or gave away so I decided to recut them for myself. Dick heppnerguy

  2. I have four projects in progress right now, and I work on which ever one fits my mood of the day. Just having fun and doing nothing serious... Here is the one I have been working on today. It is a modification of an @alexfox pattern... Layered bird house pattern for a wall hanging,,, I thought it would make a cute real bird house.... This is my progress so far... The front of the bird house is Alex's pattern them I just have been building the house and this will be the front... I'm having a great time with it... I have to paint it now them glue the front together and attach it to the little house..

Tropical Dolphins 1/2" Sapele, #2/0 Olson reverse tooth blade for interior cuts, #5 Olson PGT blade for perimeter, 4 coats of Deft satin lacquer, I used Rustoleum Oasis Blue spray paint for the backer. .

  4. After seeing the post from Joe W. titled Nautilus Gear, I just had to make one. A quick - just for fun - project with every part made from Walnut and Pine scrap. Pegas #1 MGT R blade. And like Joe said "You can turn it in a complete circle over and over and . . . " Finished with spray Lacquer...it was fun trying to coat everything and not having it stick the moving parts to the stand . Sorry about the clinging dust in the pics.

    Newest items

Things have been pretty busy doing shows and figured I'd share some of the newest things we've created. Me and the wife and oldest daughter all cut and we do 30+ crafts how's a year here in Florida. During the cooler months from October - April you can usually do a big 2-4 day show every weekend if you wanted to. This past weekend we did a Strawberry Fest (2day event) and it was a record weekend broke my gross sales record (4day event) by $200 so it was a great weekend and it seems things are running good and back to normal here in Florida. Just keeping up with inventory some days can be stressful while working fulltime jobs still but we're having fun and making money together as a family so it isn't to bad. Cutting so much I had to come up with a bigger drying rack for puzzles. On average we're cutting 50 puzzles a week. Thank fully the Florida sun has been out so they dry pretty quick. We did a Strawberry Fest last weekend and they asked everyone have a Strawberry related item for sale. I work at a high school and talked with one of the students in art class and she drew me a pattern for a strawberry puzzle. Turned out great and now she's drawing a few other items for me and she's happy because she's making some extra spending money. I have a Seafood Festival in May and a good friend suggested I cut some fish out so did some Google images searches for a redfish and snook and we cut them out he came up with the idea of mounting them on some wood with dowel rods and they turned out awesome. Also cut some bigger fish around 25 inches long as wall hangers and they went over well just done have any pics.

    Hum-ah Hum-ah!

With a title like that, how could you resist looking?! I'm buried in Steve Good patterns and cutting my way out. Anyway, we have a friend who loves hummingbirds, so I made this for her. 3/4 inch pine (called for 1/2 inch but I didn't have any on hand) using #5ST Pegas blades. Now to ponder a backing color. And thanks to all of you in the Village for being here and sharing your knowledge. It has helped me greatly.

  11. Board footage is figured on the rough stock size (before it goes thru the planer). A board 6" wide x24" long x 1" thick which will actually be 3/4" will be priced as 1 board foot. A board that is 6" wide x24" long x2" thick which is actually 1.5 inches will be sold as 2 board feet. Should also add that hard woods are sold by the 1/4 thickness. A one inch board is considered 4/4 a two inch board is considered 8/4 a 1.5 inch board before it is planed is 6/4 which would net you out to about 1 1/8" thick after planing.

    Puzzle Pets

Just want to share what I have been up to a lot lately. I bought a bunch of Sue Mey's puzzle patterns, and have been making them for clients including the Pets name. They are selling real well

  13. While I was finishing up my Double Trouble project a while ago, my Lady (Robin) had seen a magazine with pictures of beautiful ladies fans on the cover and ask me if I could do a cutting of a fan. The fans in the picture were very ornate and they were not suitable for making a pattern, so I went hunting for fan patterns. I found four on the Sue May web site. I did not feel only one fan would make a nice presentation so I decided to do all four and present them as a group. Yes four individual patterns but over 500 holes in total. One panel was done in one 3-4 hour cutting session using both Pegas #0 Spiral and #2/0 MGT R Blades. Four days total. All cuttings and backers were cut from 1/8” BB Ply, painted with various colors of Krylon Fusion All-In-One rattle can spray paints to “sort-of” match the colors shown in the Sue May Patterns. I use 1/4” Birch plywood to create a colored 18” x 24” full backer that the individual fan panels were affixed to. This full backer was set loose into a custom made frame cut from pre-primed Brick Mold available from Lowes. When the better half asks for something you just got to drop everything get it done as soon as possible. When she is happy, I’m happy. Now I can go back to my projects.

  14. I went to my lumber a=yard to get some BB ply and they were out so Idd3ecded to look around. they had a staack of 8 ft popular marked down to $275 pr board ft. Well wlhat can I get it for he said tat there was a little over 50 BF.and I could have it for $125 I agreed tp that and bought 8 ft of 6" soft maple for $37 I knew I had a good deal and I figured it out @ 53 board ft . They were of random with 3<5 the smallest and 12" the largest, any way I got the 53BF for $2.35 a BF at regulaar price they would have been $165.00 IKE

The PVC is 3/4", its the 2 1/2" tube running to the PVC at the saw. It has that HomeDepot step down adapter which takes it to 1". Then I have a 1" to 3/4" PVC coupling. I think its boarderline caving all the time, but when it get a clog it caves. I have replaced it with a Menards bucket (20 mil thicker than the homer). I taped the "seal" like crazy. Initial tests seemed positive. I put it in a thick garbage bag for now. This way even if it fails nothing will escape into the air. I also can't see it so I can concentrate on cutting. I made a commitment to supply the prizes for a local club. I have a couple pieces I need to finish and deliver Wednesday. I'll make this all work for now and then rethink/rework everything once the pieces are done. I might try the thicker PVC as that won't take much time to install.

  30. Don't cut yourself down Les. You're the guy who can fix/build clocks and who knows what else on your machinist equipment. I wouldn't know where to start on that.

  31. The first pic of my EX 21 with the wheels outboard is going to get the Oreck vac. We'll see how that works out. A lot bigger unit to contend with. Both stands are identical in size/shape but I mounted the wheels on the EX 16 inboard to cut down on the footprint. I may move them outboard if it seems unstable. They both move around very easy with my wheelbarrow handles. I like the idea of having one that I can do marquetry on and keep the table tilted while being able to make stuff on the other one in a conventional manner.

  36. Isn't you second calculation "liner foot" as oppose to "board foot"... Liner foot is just length x width and usually assumes 1" thick but in reality is usually 3/4" thick..

  39. Okay, I just pulled up a picture of the Delta saw. What you are trying to get to is underneath the switch/speed dial housing. The tension dial is in the same place as the Dewalt but the upper switch/speed housing is a bit different. Just in appearance though. Once that is removed, you'll be able to get to the tension mechanism. Trust me, it's there.

  41. Les, one board foot is 144 square inches. 12 x 12 x 1" or any multiple? of that. Say 6" wide by 24" long by 1" thick is one board foot.

you can order the custom patterns for those from Iggy (Scott) on here. Those patterns are drawn by Harvey Byler and Scott works directly with him on doing custom ones. I've had probably 20 drawn last couple years. Check out his site www.woodcraftbyscott.com
