    Goldfish

Learned more about interior cuts with this Steve Good pattern on 1/2 inch pine. Oh, and discovered that while the blade will cut upside down, it will bring the cut paper pattern up ahead of the cutting line, laying on it and blocking your view of the line you are trying to cut. At first I was wondering "what the heck" and then the light bulb clicked on. Another lesson in what not to do (eye roll). Still have to touch up a couple spots and decide on a backing, but overall pleased with it.

Love Dolly Parton. Classy lady, in spite of looking cheap.

    Jesus by blume

Well I love the subject so you know I have to cut it. Thanks to jim blume for the pattern buddy has a bar in Sweeney switch Texas. Seriously it’s a blinking light a small convince store and his bar. There was a restaurant on one corner but it’s been closed for years. So this is for him.

  8. So sorry about your cat, it is never an easy decision. I find that I start getting "itchy" fingers when I haven't been at the saw after a couple of weeks.

    Simple Eagle

Another pattern converted from a ZM Creations Illustration. Cut panel is 5/32” x 9” x 10 1/2” Maple solid core plywood affixed to a 1/4” x 11” x 12 1/2” backer. The backer panel border was painted with rattle can Krylon Fusion All-In-One Matt Fire Red, just to be different, and the areas under the pattern colored with Acrylic Art Paints, somewhat following the original illustration. As usual, I protected the panel with multiple coats of clear gloss spray Lacquer. This was a very quick cut using just one Pegas #1 MGT R Blade…amazing since I hardly ever get to use just one blade on a project, I break a lot. And, once again, a simple 1 3/4” wide Poplar frame that I applied a coat of pre-stain conditioner followed by a coat of Minwax Classic Grey and protected with coat of satin Wipe-On-Poly. In the pic the joints seem to be very pronounced but when viewing live they are not very noticeable. The lights seem to make them stand out in this color. Here is the original Illustration: For those who love to cut Eagles, here is the pattern Eagle - ZM Creations.pdf

  15. March: Will it be "In Like A Lion and Out Like A Lamb?" Or will it be "In Like a Lamb and Out Like A Lion?" Regardless, this month scroll saw challenge is about big cats. A popular genre in scroll sawing, so it's time to show them off. Or maybe King of the Jungle cats aren't your thing? Post the King of the House instead with kittens and cat projects. That's what the internet is for, right? Cat pictures? Can't wait to see what you come up with.

    Kokopelli

This is a Sue Mey pattern but I changed the base because I didn't like the big large round base I prefer the smaller oval one. The base is pine and Kokopelli is blackheart sassafras. This one is for me, I have loved this little fellow every since I first saw him about 20 years ago. Marg

  17. I've been off on for the past two weeks on vacation.. traveled to South Carolina spent some time at Folly Beach.. Cut our time short as my daughters ( our ) cat was kind of sick when we left.. and we got a call saying she wasn't doing good so we came home and ended up having to put her down.. she was a good cat for the 20 years she spent with us. I laser engraved a ornament for the Vet that took care of her and one for my daughter.. I forgot to get pictures though.. however I'll be making more since I want a ornament for my tree too, LOL.. Anyway, haven't touched the scroll saw for almost 3 weeks now.. I think that's the longest time away from scrolling I have been in the 18 years of the hobby.. Hope I can remember how to use it.. as I have 3 orders I need to get working on.. You know you love what you do when while you're on vacation all you can think about is getting back to the shop.. Most people enjoy vacation and don't want to go home and go back to work, Here is a picture from the living room of the vacation home we rented.

Very sorry Kevin. We've been through it more times than I can count. We lost one in May and just adopted a rescue cat a month ago. Our 16 year old kitty was lonesome.

Very cute pattern and well cut. Putting a blade in upside down is probably something everybody has done. Best way to learn is sometimes to do it wrong. Next time you'll know right away what the problem is. Nice job!

A very eye catching cut Frank, the small amount of cuts make it easy for you to digest the image, sometimes the more complicated cuts are too much to take in

  34. Do you have a Carbatec in your area or in WA, if so try them? I do know they sell pin blades but I've never had to buy them so not sure what type they are, but give them a try. Also try Timbercon. Marg

  46. The best source for the bearings is here. Talk to Vivian. She is familiar with these bearings and what we are using them for. The sleeves as far as I know have to come from Dewalt or eReplacementparts.com.

  49. I just got a scroll saw for Christmas, so this picture is both my first and most recent project. We were short a trivet for Christmas dinner, and my kids love Harry Potter, so that was the inspiration. I used an image from the internet as a pattern with a few tweaks to add support.
