Thank you Grampa for the great pattern. My friend really likes it. Will be mailing it to her this week.

  3. Cutting done on the second layer. Just need to clean off the fuzzies on the back, and decide on stains! Also a couple of photos with the two layers together (including the little ship). There will be a spacer between the two layers.

    Return to Venice

I recently did a Venice scene cutting and happened to be scrolling through Pinterest and found another scene I really liked and had more detailed. I especially like the Rialto Bridge in the back ground. Lots of very thin lines in this pattern and did some mods on the fly so things didn't break. I also did my paint fill in technique on some of the dark spaces to match the background.

Found another Bigfoot pattern I just had to cut. Before and after paint, still have to frame him.

  6. Last year due to the pandemic and my normal buying source was closed.. I ordered two gallon ( case ) from Home Depot.. Actually a little cheaper than my local source. I was just looking the other day and see it's not available for shipping.. Though it looked like they had it in store I thought.. My local supplier had in on the shelf when I was there a month ago. I need to make a trip again for some lumber for the CNC side of the business so if they have it I'm picking up a couple gallon again. Only thing I can think of on the shortage is because they may have gotten behind do to covid.. Be interesting to find out what's going on though. EDIT: I found this doing a search online.. This is a reply to a question about being out of stock everywhere on Lumberjogs.com "Hi, I am having the same problem finding the natural version of Watco danish oil. I’ve searched far and wide, and finally reached out to the manufacturer (Rust-Oleum) and after a couple rounds they said “We just checked internally and it seems as though we’re out of stock also – which is why you’re likely having trouble, and we apologize for that inconvenience. If you’d like to check in with us in a few weeks, we can provide an update with our inventory status.”. I did some more searching and a amazon seller had some but $110 for two gallons ( case ) free shipping.. double the price I gave for the case last year from Home Depot. Then I searched woodcraft.com and they show that it wont ship until March 19th.. must be they are expecting a shipment..

Inspired by @wombatie's cell phone holder I decided my shop needed a Kokopelli on the wall.

  9. 1. It could very well be the blade is FLEXING during the cut. This does happen with some thin blades. Especially with hard or thick wood. 2. The wood has a slight bow and is not perfectly flat on the table. It rocks a little as you cut, it's hard to distinguish this as you cut. 3. Worn part, could be. I doubt this. I have two Delta 40-694's and have not ever had a front to rear alignment problem. This saw is made so the blade has a slight forward to back movement and the blade 'looks to be out of alignment but is not. As I look at my saws, the upper and lower clamps are 'hard' fixed in place. No adjustments can be made except how you have placed the blade in the clamps. You could check to see if the 'table' is properly installed. Maybe the grommet in the back where the table fits is worn and it is clamped in the front correctly.

  10. Possibly something is stuck in the chuck not allowing blade all the way in to the stop, if you put something behind the blade and cycle it up and down you will be able to see if it is the top or the bottom that is causing this. Good luck Bob

    Compliment !!??

Do you remember me putting my 'Pegasus' in the 'Bragging' section earlier this week ? Well I shared it with another group on Facebook and got asked this.... Have you cut that out yet or is it a stencil.... ??? I'm not sure whether to be flattered or offended.

  13. Is this a sudden onset? I assume so by the way you found this issue so I'd first check the table alignment of the saw.. ie have you pushed / picked up on your saw by the table? Check to be sure it's mounted correctly in the pivot point at the back of the table as well as seated in the front angle adjustment mechanism... I believe the Delta is like the DeWalt and there is no adjustment like the other slightly higher end saws have. This is what we talk a lot about with Excaliburs and like saws.. as well as Hawks.. Some of the first few DW type 2's was horrid and people was modifying them to make them cut right.. one of these mods was raising or lowering the table to come in line with the blade better.. so if this is a kind of all of a sudden thing.. I'm wondering it you may have picked up on the saw by the table and bumped it out of whack somehow.. This also can happen over time with worn bearings inside the saw at the back and allowing the upper arm to drop lower than it used to.. Make sure the upper arm is also coming down all the way and that there is no build up of sawdust or something that maybe stopping it from coming down all the way.. That upper arm should be parallel to the table.. My opinion is either the table got bumped out of alignment or the upper arm is not down all the way... hopefully it's not worn already and coming down too far.. normally in this case though.. I'd think you'd hear a lot of racket knocking noise of a worn bearing.. Loose motor could also do this some.. as that is the way the EX saws change the alignment.. by rotating the motor it changes the geometry of the blade angle during the up down movement. Also check the front rocker arms for excessive slop where they connect to the saws link arms etc.. these bearings and bushings could be worn enough to allow the alignment to be wacked.. but again I would think you'd have some noise or vibration issues.. Best of luck figuring this out.. I'll touch back on installing Pegas blade chucks later if nobody has done so yet. But to answer the quick question.. I do not believe this will resolve the issue you are having.. I gotta get out to the shop and get these orders done.. I'll touch back maybe at lunch time or this evening.

WELL done, Charlie. Love Kokopelli. I made a little cigar box uke some years back... I cut a sound hole cover, with Kokopelli playing a Uke...Now you make me want to cut one ofd him to hang in my shop...

  17. Must admit they were a bit 'tender' Marg so I didn't cut for more than 15 mins at a time, but I'm sure that will improve with time.

    Compliment !!??

I believe it was about a week ago I posted some pictures on SSV of some "tropical dolphins" I had made with a blue background. I e-mailed some pics to various friends and family members also. Someone in my family asked me how I was able to paint that blue background. "You must have used a very tiny brush?"

    Kokopelli

Hi, @wombatie This isn't a very good pic but, the kokopelli is in the bottom, left hand corner, facing away from the camera. I don't recall who the designer was but, am pretty sure they came from the old Creative Woodworks and Crafts magazine. If I can locate the designer, I'll pass the info along. God Bless! Spirithorse

This 1/8”X9”X17” BB cut panel affixed to a 1/4”X11”X19” backer is another ZM Creations Illustration I converted to a scroll saw pattern. The cutting was done using Pegas #2/0 and #0 Spiral Blades. I actually finished the cutting a few weeks ago and set it aside because I was unsure how I was going to finish it. The ZM Creations Illustrations are somewhat simplistic but very colorful making them suitable for conversion to a scroll saw pattern with coloring in mind. This particular Illustration was interesting but I was not happy with just a colored Illustration on a white (or in this case a natural wood color) background. I felt it needed the water and sky to be in color also but wasn’t sure how to handle the border of the cut panel. When I finally decided to do the painting I decided to leave the cut panel border natural and make the backer border black. I sprayed the panel before removing the liner/pattern. Please I took a lot of liberties in the painting colors. The painting of the cutout areas on the backer panel was done using Acrylic Art Paints and the cut panel was colored using rattle can spray paints. I like the Krylon Fusion All-In-One products as there are a lot of colors available. I’m learning to do wet on wet spraying to get some blended/shaded colors. Once again the Frame is a simple 1 3/4” Poplar frame. The wood had a fairly clear grain so I just used the wood pre-stain treatment and finished with an application of Minwax Classic Oak Polyurethane/Stain. This was the original Illustration.

  44. Dan, I love California. I just happen to disagree with you on what I mentioned. I'm trying to stay away from politics as much as possible. Kevin brought it up and I just agreed with him. I do still own the right to an opinion. Even in California.
