In between projects and looking for something different I decided to make a sign to hang on the outside of my little shop. Found a S. Good fretwork Welcome sign pattern that I used but changed the wording. Panel is 1/4” x 12” x 15” Walnut Solid Core Plywood and affixed to a 1/2" sanded plywood backer. I deepened the contrast by staining the panel with multiple coats of Minwax Walnut Stain. The script is called "Handwritten" that I have individual .svg files for each letter in upper and lower case. All cutting was done with Pegas #0 and #1 spiral blades. The panel is glued into a 3/4” wide Poplar frame that I rounded over on the Router and made a 1/4” wide x 3/4” deep rabbet to match the panel depth. I stained the frame with Minwax Honey Maple. After fully assembled, the sign was protected for outdoor use with multiple coats of Clear Gloss Polyurethane spray.6 points

I am always obsessing over my finishes. My usual projects are bb and spray painted. Have been sanding and spraying 3 coats lately and its a decent finish. Been figuring the sanding between coats and what grits and what not. Got all fired up with some 600 grit at harbor freight for cheap but the coats were just too soft to work with when done. 320 seems about right. What i usually do is sand, then rub it off on my tee shirt then with my hand until no more dust is on the piece. Got to thinking there has to be a better way. Looked online and DIY tack cloth is just some spray glue on a paper towel and let it dry for about 4 minutes. Tried it today with my old method and then the new cloth and was shocked at home much more it picked up. Just sprayed another coat on my practice pieces so will see how they compare. So far this seems like a great idea and of course, cheap like me.2 points

I have a game for two people that surprising looks really easy but in reality is quite fun and challenging, even if played with a new player. The squares are 1 inch by 1 inch, you can easily see what the other 4 pieces measurement are, just by looking at it. The four pieces are painted the same color on each side. the large colored pieces are placed With the large ends placed in the center of the board with the long parts both at the bottom of the board, facing away from each other and the black circles on the bottom corners. It starts out where the first person can make one move with the larger game pieces but cannot move the opponents piece, which, of course, would be the opposite colored game piece. The pieces can only be places on square that are free of the opponents piece and the two black circles. The after each move, the person has the choice to move one or both of the black circles to any open square, or he can elect to leave them lay as is. The person moving his larger game piece can leave it face up as it is when he picks it up or can elect to turn the piece over so that what was the bottom becomes the top. After that move, the opponent does the same thing with his piece with all the same electives of the previous player. ( these are choice with every move ) The object of the game is to position your piece so that the opponent has no where to place his game piece. sounds easy? Try it.2 points -
For spray paint at least 24 hours if not 48. Look at the can as they are different sometimes.2 points

lol ahh the wounderful world of scrolling!! lol im glad im not the only one who breaks and saves scroll saw blades. lol I often use the broken blades in my craft projects. for instance when i made the small 3d modle of paul bunin I used a broken peice of scroll saw blade with 2 small pices of wood on each end to make a saw , then I put a small twig across 2 pieces of dowl and inbeded the saw into the twig. with the small compound cut or carving patterns they can be used in several different ways...I have used them to make the spikes on the backs small compound cut dragons . by making a small slit in the back of the dragon I can slide the flat part of the blade into the grove and once painted it makes the spikes on the dragons back. they can also be used is layered picture patterns as grass the bigger the teeth on the broken blade the higher the grass will be, this helps give the picture more of a 3d effect. you could also us them as the runners on small skates and sleds....you just inbed the side with the teeth into the wood so that the flat piece is visable. its kind of cheating in way i guess because it saves me from having to cut those kind of pieces out of wood. yea i know im a strange creature who does strange things but as long as it works lol besides its a great way to recycle the blades. lol2 points -

Sorry, I read your statement as being sarcastic. Just don't want anoyone to think they "HAVE" to do what I do. I kanda agree that a project is not really complete until someone hangs it for, or puts it on, display. A lot of my projects are not on display and they live in a box, so hopefully still to be completed.1 point

Your work is always excellent but what impresses me is the way you present your projects so professionally. I should learn a lot from you but at 82 I'm just too flat out tired to attempt it.1 point -

Looks good! Wood golf tees can make hangers for lighter weight things that are easy to install and also look good. Cut the point off-drill the right size hole at a slight angle and whatever gets hung slides to the wall.1 point
