Here is a Tiger I just finished. My daughter goes to the University of Memphis. Their mascot is a tiger and the school colors are blue and gray. That is why I painted the backer blue with a gray border. These colors appear to match the University colors pretty close. I used 1/4" maple plywood and cut most of it with a spiral blade. For the straight sections I switched blades to a straight one so I could cut a straighter line. Believe it or not, I did not break any of the whiskers when cutting. I saved them for almost last and had dreaded cutting them the whole time I was working in it. I made sure I had a fresh blade to reduce pressure in an attempt to not break the thin wood, and I got really, really lucky. The frame is maple that is stained Red Oak and sprayed with lacquer. The overall size with the frame is 17x20". The pattern is from Alex Fox and it said there are 447 holes. I'm not sure there are that many holes but I have not counted.3 points

Another disappointing issue came today

Have you read "Lonesome Dove"? I finished my 4th reading of it last night... Emailed my family and told them when I die I want my copy of the book in my casket with me.... They all agreed it was not a problem,,,, they could do that,,, when??? No "Grandpa, or Dad... you have a long time to go... Just "okay we can do that,,,, when?" True story... I had a sister-in-law that always said, when she goes, she wanted a porkchop, in one hand and a lily in the other to go with her... My brother honored her wish when she died...I ask no more... By the way,,, in every reading of "Lonesome Dove",,,, Deets and Gus died.... I cried just as hard each time I read it..1 point -

I just checked my issues. Spring 2021. I am interested in 2 patterns. Summer 2021 I am interested in 3 patterns. Winter 2019. Maybe 1 So, I don’t make everything in every issue. I do read it cover to cover. Every time. These are just my thoughts on it.1 point -

Great job. I printed that pattern a few years ago but never got around to cutting it.1 point -

Doesnt have to be a super thick coat, just a regular amount of spray, not soaking wet but just covered. It does have lint but it seems to stay put with the glue. I suppose now you have given me something else to obsess over, lol1 point

How heavy of a coat of spray adhesive do you use? I'm trying to envision using a paper towel with spray glue and I must admit, it sort of eludes me. I'll have to give it a try. Doesn't the paper towel have a lot of lint to it?1 point

You did a dynamite job on that. The BB looks good. You're getting to be a master at bowls! Nice work.1 point

Watched, isn't the "packet" type of marquetry? If so it is the easiest example of it I have been able to understand... And for the small stuff like I would do,,, my wife has a kitchen thingy to vacuum pack items to freeze.. I really think it would work for something like that....I don't know, but I would think so.. ho hummm I ordered his book...1 point

Incderable skills to do a tiny project like this!!! GR8!!!1 point -
I cut them out of those little pieces of scrap we dont know what to do with but dont want to throw away. Then I glue them on. No special trick to it. I use a #73 drill bit and a 2/0 jewelers blade. The blades dont have reverse teeth but have a ton of regular teeth so you can get really nice intricate cuts. The down side is the back side will be really ragged. To prevent this, I have learned to tape 2 pieces of 1/8" bb together on top of one another. Cuts will pretty much the same ease and the backside wont be ragged.1 point

Alright I haven't gotten to do any with the scroll saw yet. This is what I've done with the Drill Press and the Razor blade for my Edrinrigger and Special Christmas figure. Next I like to finish up putting together my Red Gobo figure from 2 Christmas's ago. I'm looking for a 3D Christmas Tree pattern with a nook in it to put the figure.1 point -
I watched the video. Very interesting and well done even tho I couldn't understand the audio. Way out of my league. I barely have bench space big enough for scrolling so I don't have any use for another hobby as interesting as it is. Even walking around my shop is difficult so I roll around and I use a walker to get to my table saw. About as much hobby as I can handle.0 points
