  2. Quarter inch BB with Red Gum (Australian Eucalyptus) veneer. My first attempt at veneering and there are a couple glue starved spots where small pieces of the veneer came off. My next project is a Clayton Boyer clock. Have spent quite a bit of time studying the patterns and instructions and am getting a little concerned I've bitten off more than I chew.

The guy in the middle was our leader rusty rankin. He lived on his property which stretched back to the original Spanish land grant. Was 7 miles by 7miles. Originally it was down to 5 acres on the neches river in Sweeney switch Texas. We lost him 2 weeks ago. Got to go down and say good bye to my best friend in the world the day before he decide to turn oxygen and antibiotics off double pneumonia. Other guy is Bob. We spent years cooking on the Chuck wagon at Dollywood. Silver dollar city rodeos. Best times of my life outside my kids I ever had. End of the trail. Fixing to take this to brother Bob in Tennessee. for those that got there picture 10 years before last year Rusty was Dollywood Santa also. my tribute to my friends. Love miss you rusty.

    Backwards Clock

This is fun thing intended to bring everyone a smile. I designed and made this backwards wall clock to give to my grandson Ethan for his birthday next month. I purchased the clockworks from a company in England that makes such a mechanism for clocks that work by projecting a mirror image. I very much doubt that this mechanism was intended to be utilized as I have done. Should a demand arise, I have enough supplies to make three more clocks. I've decided that I like it enough that one of these clocks will be for me. I cut the clock face from two 6mm thick layers of Baltic Birch plywood and used paint from a bunch of different cans in my shop in order to come up with 12 different colours with sufficient contrast.

    Backwards Clock

This would be perfect to hang in the bathroom on the wall opposite the mirror. That way you can quickly check the time while shaving. I like it!

    Hanging Light??

Found this pattern on Pinterest and thought I'd give it a try. It used more wood than I planned! 12 panels BBPW 1/8" and lots of clips. I stacked cut everything. I sprayed contact glue on both sides of a piece of paper and trimmed to make it happen. 3 panels x 4 and 4 panels x I forgot?? for the clips (a lot). Used "Off" to get it off. Since nothing is glued (sort of) using the clips and panels together is a real challenge. Everything is very fragile trying to slide the panels and clips together. I even filed the clip inserts to 1/8" to make sure they all fit together without too much effort (not). The last panel for the light did not go well and I cracked and broke it and had to make another. (slightly over sized). I decided to make it easier to get to the bulb. I would screw that panel in place. I cut some 1/4" strips at an angle that would be flush with the top panel (30 deg.?) and ca glued in place and added some 3/8" #4CS screws that worked out well. The center star accepted a standard lamp rod with a little threading and I used a candelabra lamp fixture with a 40w led globe bulb. The original design was for a hanging lamp but decided to use a lamp base my wife had from another project. Finish is shellac with satin lacquer. I've included the original drawing and the enlarged pattern I used for the panels and clips. Have fun.

    A pile of Junk

I made a big pile of Junk --and they love it! 25 x 18 overall I started with a 5 stack of 1/8 baltic cut with #5 and 3 Pegas mg blades to cut the junk pile -- the black is 3/8 and the letters 1/8 That pile thoroughly intimidated me from start to finish but it came out fairly close to my idea

    Fist Intarsia

I finally got this done, or I should say as far as I can go. I used all hardwoods, wenge-cherry-walnut-tiger wood, and was really challenged. I think intarsia must be a foreign word that means taking good square and flat wood, cutting into odd shapes and then trying to piece it together in a pattern! Anyway I learned A LOT

    First shelf

I did this out of cherry, and I have to say hanging it was the biggest problem. I ended up using the command adhesive hangers, not my favorite but I could not figure another way to get it close to the wall. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Forever Young

I love Rod Stewart's song Forever Young and thought these lyrics go well with this picture. May our children and grandchildren know this is true of how we feel about them.

  16. I have found the problem Kevin, as this screenshot shows, we are only allowed A4 in Europe. As you quite rightly point out, all sizes are available in the USA but we are limited to what we can have. I did find a site in the UK that does A3 (11" x 17") and have ordered 100 sheets (min. order). The cost of this is £50.46 when VAT is added (but postage is free). This means the paper will be used sparingly and will need to be factored into the price of the piece/s that I cut. I don't sell, it usually gets given away or donated so I will be extra careful. take care and stay safe

    Cedar Finish

2 products that are superior to oil based exterior finishes: 1- general finish 450 2- sherwin williams A100 non tinted. this is an exterior house paint base. non tinted, it dries clear. house paints hold up for years and years. oil based need maintenance in a couple of years.

    Cedar Finish

You might also look into Behr finishes. I made a gate for my daughter's home and finished it with Behr clear and it has lasted quite well. Also, look at deck finishes. There is one, I think it may be Johnson's that works well.

    Hanging Light??

My wife used to repair lamps and had some pieces from an old lamp. The bottom base looks to be made of 3 pieces glued up and turned and the spindle seems to be turned also. Glad she had them. I was thinking I would have to build some sort of tall box frame for the base. Cutting this project wasn't bad but because of the clips, the assembly drove me a little crazy.
