    My First Project

This was the first project I completed. My niece has a horse tack store and does horse training and riding lessons. She displays a lot of my projects to see if they will sell.

  2. I can't remember the last time I did a full batch of puzzles... But I had to catch up on some items sold the past few weeks to replenish this weekend. Since I started offering the wall mounted leash holders, they've been the hot item lately.

  3. Finally finished. I had a hard time finding silver paint. This is a modified Sue Mey pattern. Using 1/4" Baltic Birch plywood and backed with 3/8" Baltic Birch plywood. Cut on the Pegas scroll saw using Pegas #1R MGT blades. I should have used a thicker blade on the veining by the hearts. Comments welcome.

  4. Over the 4th of July weekend my wife made me an apple pie, I made a rack of ribs on the Traeger, and I cut a baseball piece! This Hank Aaron piece is an Al Baggetta pattern done in Red Oak with Lacquer finish. Several Pegas #1 & #3 blades gave their lives for this.

Hi I'm Don, me too. Sometimes I manage to take a picture crop and post it here, sometimes the piece has disappeared before I get the camera out, depends which child/grandchild is visiting at the time.

Don't worry too much about how you present your pictures. Most important is that you show us. Sometimes I'm able to frame and post without background but just as often I don't. In fact, I love seeing messy and cluttered workshops. It's kinda what makes this place interesting. We don't all have large, pristine and world class workshops. Sometimes I work in a hovel.

  9. We were married on July 2nd in 1966. Steve Good has an anniversary pattern for most years and I made one last year. This morning, I relpaced last years plaque with an updated one. The plaque is located on one of our kitchen widow-sills The foreground is made of 6mm thick Figured Maple and the background of 18mm thick Baltic Birch plywood treated with Light Green Saman stain.

    Couple of projects done

Made these for my wife's birthday. The basket is a Sheila Landry pattern done from aspen and some mystery wood I had. The Jerry Garcia is a Botas pattern and was cut from soft gum maple, the frame I made from zebra wood.

  11. This is a Jim Blume Pattern It was labeled "Adapted for Scroll Saw. It just wasn't adapted for my scroll saw. LOL. I had a hard time with this one for some reason. Go figure. It is my Ladyfriends favorite thing I have done next to Sam Elliot.

Sorry Frank, not happening that way in my shop. I just shoot a pic or two when I'm at a stage that I want to save. The bench is ALWAYS cluttered and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Hello All, I've been scrolling now for about three months. I find it to be very relaxing and quite pleasing to complete the various projects. I'm a retired law enforcement officer but continue to work for a farm manufacturing company that distributes worldwide. I live in a very rural area with my wife, dogs, cats and various wildlife that visit my property. We did have horses when we first moved here but they have passed on and we decided at our ages not to get any more. I say all this because you'll notice most of my projects are animal related. I look forward to learning from the experience of the members of this forum. God bless and keep scrolling!

  17. So I have always used the saw on speed 4, because anything higher and you get a knocking and vibration from the saw. Does anyone have any experience with what may be causing the saw to have a lot of vibration and a knocking sound when it's at a higher speed?

  24. In a prevous post, about two months back, I mentioned I had been accepted to join a local Fine Art Artist Cooperative where I could disply and offer my work for sale. Of course there is a fee to rent the space, but there is no commision taken from any sales other than any credit card sale charges. The Coop takes care of taking sales tax so every thing is simple. Each month the first Saturday of the month is Art Walk night where a lot of locals, as well as tourest, visit the various Art venues in the area, indulge in a little wine and snacks, and maybe buy some Art. Tonight was the third Art Walk Saturday since I joined the Gallery and it is was very well attended. And tonight, I sold two more pieces for a total of five pieces in just a few days more than two months. With these sales, I have covered my first four months rent plus and anything sold hereafter will be on the profit side. More importantly to me is the comments and praise I get from those who take the time to look at my work. Those who actually stop and look at my disply spend a good deal of time scrutenizing the pieces and are amazed at the cratmanship and artistry. Certainly not everyone buys, but compared to the time they spend looking at the fine paintings and other art, they tend to linger at my display for quite a while. When I'm there to answer questions, the positive feedback I get is just awsume. One of the pieces I sold tonight brings with it the potential for some commisioned pieces for this couples home that they have up north. Ask me if I feel good. I'm sure you can guess what my answer wouild be!

Hi, I'm Ben Me too! "The photo should be taken in front of an uncluttered, clean, plain backdrop." Good luck with that in my shop. Most of the time I just shove things to the side when I take a picture.

  31. We no longer have a beach on Pellow's Island. But we do have plenty of places to swim. Here is a photo of two of our grandchildren and I (taken about 10 years ago) at a dock near the front of the island. I've made a lot of scroll-sawn art that would be appropriate here, but will chose just one piece: This plaque measures 35 centimetres by 42 centimetres. The background and frame are made from Cherry and walnut. The foreground pieces have been made from figured maple. The basic design is by Sheila Landry. I modified the design in order to have the island a cabin simulate our cabin on Pellow's Island in Lake Pivabiska. Many many loons make Lake Pivabiska their home in the spring and summer.

  32. I had the same problem and switched to #0. But you do marquetry and need the smallest blade. I would not recommend using the black knob on the back as this is for maintaining the upper arm parallel to the table. The suggestion of a little slack before tightening might work.

    Saws for Aussies

We have had a 16" Delta, 20" DeWalt, 21" Ex (Taiwan) and a 16" Ex (Not sure), all from Carbatec and no problem with any of them except the 16" Ex and we had a problem with the bellows. Down here we can only buy from Carbatec and Bunnings. Marg

  43. I did this beach scene back in Feb of 2019 and is posted on the site. The design is based on a paint by numbers my wife did and also a puzzle. My wife converted the picture in Photoshop to greyscale. The design took quite a while because I wanted to get the beach and light house right. We gifted the paint by numbers and puzzle to good friends that live by the beach.

  46. nothing is much more fun then to make things for the grand kids. we have 13 greats and 12 great grands so I understand how fun it is to do things with them. It builds up the bonding as well as the memories, while helping them to explore possible hobbies in the future. Dick heppnerguy

  47. I realize this is true. However, my EX 21 lived it’s first several years with the white mark on the knob at about “one O’Clock. Then I had problems. I did the Hold it with a rubber band thing. Ok for a while. Now the knob likes to be close to 10:30. I can’t explain it. As long as it is working, I’m not complaining.

  48. Great result and many congratulations on your future success. I wish there were places like this in Scotland. My local gallery will stock/sell my work but I refuse to work with them, as an example, if I want a fair £20 for a piece then the gallery charges twice that meaning they get the same money as me just for selling it ???
