Thanks for the offer on the saw, but I'll pass on it. I'm really in no hurry to get one as I wont be taking it "on the road" until next camping season, so I have time. Around labor day there are tons of yard sales in this area, I'm pretty sure I'll be able to find something then, but I'll keep my eyes open for deals on craigs list and other sites around my part of Michigan. Very nice, Woodrush. Would like some details... wood, blade, etc. Regardless, you did a great job.2 points

If you are on Facebook you can message the guy selling the one that kmmcrafts mentioned. Ask if he has the manual for it and if he would be willing to sell it to you. Worth a shot.2 points

OK, got things done a little quicker than expected before we leave on our trip, so I get to post this last, at least for the foreseeable future, completed piece. This was again a free stencil image I found On-line and converted to a Scroll Saw pattern. Really, not very much conversion was needed other than adjusting the size to fit a 9” x 12” cut panel. The cut panel is 5/32” Solid Core Maple Ply and the cutting was done with Pegas#2/0 spiral blades. Just about 100 holes and used only two blades. My ratio of holes to broken blades is getting better . The Backer is a ¼” x 11” x 14” BB ply that was hand painted. Of course, the 1” border was just spray painted with Krylon All-in-one paint and primer Coffee Bean. The area under the cutting was first coated with Gesso (a White Acrylic art paint primer) and then hand painted with Acrylic Artist Paints. As the pattern is relatively simple, I was able to use a couple of copies of the cutting pattern to use as general area painting stencils. Made life a little easier for this step. I also painted some additional areas on the cut panel to help enhance the image. And, once again the assembled panel was protected with multiple coats of Deft Lacquer. In my previous post “Love Stem Roses – A different Version”, Fab4 replied that the Roses should have been Yellow or white, but we all know that Love and Red Roses go together. So, since this piece has nothing to do specifically with Love, I took his suggestion and painted these Roses Yellow. The custom frame is once again made from 1¾" wide poplar, stained with Minwax Cherry and finished with two coats of Minwax Gloss Wipe-on Poly. Don’t forget, critique of my work is always welcomed and appreciated. If you haven’t already, please check out my recent post "Gonna be gone for a while." in the Coffee House Forum.1 point

This one looks like about the same model saw? There used to be a 20" Craftsman saw that was a work horse of a saw. I don't remember what model it was or what it looked like, just remember it was highly spoken of back when I first started sawing in about 2005 ish. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/528897635121288/?ref=browse_tab&referral_code=marketplace_general&referral_story_type=general&tracking={"qid"%3A"6987915577404448868"%2C"mf_story_key"%3A"989866645847736057"%2C"commerce_rank_obj"%3A"{\"target_id\"%3A989866645847736057%2C\"target_type\"%3A6%2C\"primary_position\"%3A11%2C\"ranking_signature\"%3A5384998092707725312%2C\"commerce_channel\"%3A501%2C\"value\"%3A0.00056479076514288%2C\"upsell_type\"%3A3516%2C\"grouping_info\"%3Anull}"%2C"lightning_feed_qid"%3A"6987914941577997492"%2C"lightning_feed_ranking_signature"%3A"6502831453968007168"}1 point

Yes, it would be nice if everything didn't have a prop. 65 warning on it. Sanity will return at sone point. Praying for the recall to be successful. As for saws, or anything else for that matter, when you have 30 plus million people all crowded together you're bound to find whatever you want. Except mineral spirits.1 point

For buying stuff you live in a great area, well unless you want mineral spirits or some other thing that isn't allowed in your county, LOL.. as for used saws here in Michigan, especially in northern Michigan where he is.. There isn't ever much out there for quality saws.. at least right now.. about 4-5 years ago there was a lot of Hawks and Hegners out there and at good prices. Like I said, I gave $100 for my first Hawk and $400 for one that was still in the original boxes with a bunch of books with both saws both came with mag lights and foot switches too.. many blades as well but I'm not into those big blades with only a couple big teeth on them, LOL1 point

Another one for my wife
smitty0312 reacted to heppnerguy for a topic
I have had this pattern for a long time and I believe I got it from the Scroll saw magazine, quite awhile back. I just ran across is as I was looking for a different one and I showed it to my wife and she said she would like one of them. So here it is. I do not remember who the pattern maker is. I am quite disappointed in how it came out, as I found myself having to take it apart but still could not seem to get it right. From the far side of the room, it looks ok though. I only posted it because I don't want anyone to think I am sitting on my duff, watching TV Dick heppnerguy1 point -
These saws are considered low end and have probably frustrated more new scrollers. But if you have the patience and learn to use it, when you upgrade to a better saw, you will be amazed at what you have learned and what you will be able to do with a better saw. Many new scrollers have missed out on a great hobby because of a bad saw.1 point

Ok, here is what I found. It seems that the number plate on your saw is either wrong or it was replaced by another saw. I found this manual online and I think it's your saw. All the tensioning is done with the lever by turning it one direction or the other. mmh.pdf1 point

Hi to All, Thanks to everyone that tried to help with this. I'm sure I remember this exact saw when I use to go to our local Sears Hardware Store, (Remember Those?) back in the early 2000s. It was one of those things that I wanted to own but at $299.99 (If I remember correctly) was out of the family budget. That's why I was pretty excited about being offered one. I did go down and try some adjustments last night. I believe I got the blade changing and blade tension figured out thanks to the help from the forum. I one thing that I find really disappointing is the amount of vibration! I can't get past the lowest setting without the saw vibrating excessively. My old hands can't handle it! I did make sure the saw is mounted on the stand correctly and I don't believe any lubrication is possible on this model . Maybe that's why there are not a lot of this model around. Sears got too many complaints and stopped making them. Luckily it did not cost anything. I'll keep my search going for a unit that works . I did have a friend lend me his Black and Decker BT4000 saw a while ago. It was a very smooth running saw . I was hoping that the Sears would work like the Black and Decker. Again thanks to all. I will get those toys made for the Grand Kids one of these days! Regards dad roadie0 points
