    Couple Of Cuts

Sorry I've not been on the forum of late, but I'm afraid as with all of us life gets in the way at times, these are a couple of cuts I've managed in the last couple of months, I've tried to make them posher by putting them in box frames (shop bought sorry), the small one is for our kitchen and the larger one was for the Daughter-In-Law who has a small cupcake business that started off as a hobby, they are both cut from 10mm Maple, I brought that after advise on the forum about "white" woods for inlay, I like cutting it so much I'm using it for other things as well

  3. I got it done. I think my problem was I though my cutting skills were not good enough for the great pattern I got from TD. Then I got it in my thick head to go slow and follow the lines. this is what I got. Thank You TD for the great Pattern.

  4. Hello friends, I show you this work. It's honestly not my idea, I saw it in google images. I copied it and did it. Hope you like the idea for your feline pets LOL Greetings to all and thanks in advance for your comments.

  5. The family tree is roughly 20x12 inches. It's made from 1/4" cherry, with 5mm ply backer. It uses the same ply painted black for the strips that hold it all together. Sheila Landry design. The dragon is 9x5.5 inches, from 1/4" curly maple, with a 5mm ply backer. Both were cut with Olson #2/0R blades.

    Leftover

I had some leftover epoxy from making a charcuterie board, so after receiving the latest scrollsaw magazine I decided to try the leaves. Pieces of scrap walnut and cherry and here is my result.

    Dream Scroll Saw

Well, I love my Hegner... but I understand it is not the right saw for everyone.... I also like old cars and trucks.... building wooden boats and that sort of thing... so Not for everyone... I think the SP saw is in the same catagory,,,, not all the new features, but reliable, built to last and great customer service... Not all the conveniences of some of them more modern saws,,,,, tilting head,,, top feeding... but it fits this old man and I know it will be with me as long as I am scrolling..

    What’s It Worth?

not sure -with the newer faster machines like Pegas their value has dropped a bit - their not a fast cutting machine and their is alot of them on the market , have seen them listed for around 300 but they don't sell very fast , so that would be a pristine one . think the older one i had went for around 200 ( what i paid for it - But I didnt bond with it ) woodworking machines are difficult to value , they go for practically nothing Ive seen good tablesaws go for like 50 bucks - and ive practically given away a few machines - Im looking at reducing the size of my shop - when you have multiple machines typically one has to go -which is life ( i have a couple of scrollsaws , bandsaw , face sander etc- that will need new homes in the near future - Ill probably use facebook market place )

  12. A little food for thought. Ask more then you actually want. Then let them bargain it down to your true price. They feel the made a good deal an you get what you wanted. Kind of a win/win situation. Like I said just some food for thought..

  14. Its okay. Just watch how they are made and hand painted. Thought maybe people would like to see it. I can also put a Hegner manual link here incase people are curious as to how Hegner says to use their saws and what can be adjusted like the stroke length. And it has good pictures too.

    Dream Scroll Saw

Thanks, Les.... Guess I would have to try it... I don't understand how it is easier to put the blade into a hole, that you can't see, in the bottom of a barrel clamp than sliding it into a slot in the Hegner clamp that you can see...? Not saying it is not easier,,,I just can't understand how it is... No matter, we all have our preferences.

  17. Look at the bright side. Really the only thing to change is the dust blower free from the upper arm and that plastic dust extraction on the bottom. Lol About a week back i actually found a paint code for the hegners.

I have the Hegner fast clamps for both of my Hegners. There is a slot in which to insert the blade. If I remember the left index finger holds the arm down with the thumb holding the blade in place with the right hand tightening the knob. Seemed kind of awkward to me. With the barrel clamp it is just popping the blade into the little hole and tighten the knob. very fast. If I can find my video I'll post it.

Barely clamps are the way to go. I made barrel clamps for my 16" Hawk discarding the outer brass bushing. Never understood what good they were. I then modified them for my Hegners. I also bought Jet clamps. They have a humongous through hole. I plugged one side and made a smaller hole opposite. About a #55 drill size. No need to go to all that trouble. Just plug one hole with anything. Wood sliver, round toothpick or even epoxy plug would work. Perhaps you need two holes for the Jet. I have never looked at the Jet even though Woodcraft had one on display. Round clamps are simple to use. Poke blade in hole and saw!

    Dream Scroll Saw

https://raleigh.craigslist.org/tls/d/durham-hawk-g4-26-scroll-saw/7335298672.html Judging by the side table being mounted on the front it "may have" some holes drilled into the stand to put it on like that. I think I know why they may have done that.. ( to keep the sawdust from landing in you're lap.. I think it'd be annoying for me in that spot but whatever, LOL.

The brushless shop vacs are reasonably quiet. They have models that run reasonably quiet. The lowes model that is a little square black one is really nice. And it doesn't tip over. Its made to be pulled by the hose.

  30. Thanks for the kind thought Kevin. If you look closely at them you should see that the slot appears closer & or wider. There are actually 3 sizes for the different size range of blades. I only bought 2 of the mid size. They seem to work for everything I do. Hang on to them because used saws seldom come with them.

  32. Hegners really are as nice operating as they say when your cutting. I have concerns about paint falling off and I don’t like the clamp systems a lot because certain blade clamps only hold certain blades. But. Hell of a machine. Honestly. Most of the saws out there are awesome.

    Dream Scroll Saw

Wish I had known, I have a bunch of Hegner clamps and some goofy looking zig zag looking springs that go at the back of the saw.. Came in a box of blades etc I picked up at a estate sale.. Must be 10 clamps in the box.. Of coarse the pack rat I am.. I probably couldn't find them now, LOL I was going to eBay them.. but I decided to hang onto them since i want to own a Hegner sometime just to play around with and see if I like them.. I'd have gave you those clamps for shipping cost.. Like I said.. probably 2 hours work just to find where i put them now though, LOL

    Christmas in July!

After each use, I remove the nozzle and drop it into mineral spirits. I keep several in the jar, and if I have an issue, I swap nozzles. I use 3M 77, but this should work with anything as long as you choose the appropriate solvent. I've never had a nozzle on the 3M 77 clog, but it does tend to build up on the nozzle and affect the spray pattern.
