    Cross

Haven't been doing much cutting this last couple of months but was asked to do this. I'm not a religious person and it's something I've never attempted before. It's 11"x 6½" + ¾" thick. Done with some pine wood. A Terence Thomas pattern.

    Land and Bison

Was asked to make for this company in Colorado. I made the wall plaque and after looking through some of their photos I made the Desk plaque from a photo of the entry way to the ranch.

It seems I haven't been active in the village for a long time. I think I was only doing pattern making and family work. I wrote two books and studying drawing.while taking a break It was a good opportunity and I published my first book with foxchapel publishing Track man, I hope you get better soon I hope other members are healthy too. design this pattern yesterday and made it Smiling inside ~

  7. Hey Don, that was my first project too. I also cut it at a course conducted by Don. My course was conducted at Lee Valley Tools in Scarborough.

  8. Canoes on Lake Pivabiska: Some of my happiest times have been spent in a canoe. The photos are me canoeing with my Granddaughter Isla and my Grandson Ethan; both photos taken 17 years ago. I designed the frame, the layout and the matting. Timothy (worbler) designed the pattern for the scroll saw portion in the middle and I made a few modifications to his design. This is in the predominant place for art in our home, that is over the mantle-place in our living room.

  11. I have the dust deputy for the shopvac and a super dust deputy for my dust collector. I am happy with both. I also have the trash can lid separator for my planer hook to the dust collector because it fills up fast when planing.

  12. Cut this a few years ago as a Father's Day gift, from a photo of my son and his kids, walking the beach and heading for the water. Fortunately found a pices of oak veneer that reminded me of the pattern water leaves on the beach as the tide ebbs and flows.

  13. This is project number 1. I went to a course at the Durham Woodworking Club put on by Don Gaudet and we cut this Wolf. I had an old Craftsman single speed with pin blades. Never knew about patterns being available, pin less blades, threading the blade, or why the table tilted. We where using DW788 that did not vibrate like crazy. That was on Saturday. I researched machines and ordered a EX-21 on Tuesday - delivered Friday and as they say the rest is history. Best $4 I ever spent.

  14. Summers spent camping and hiking with friends, way back in the day. Dad was in the Air Force, stationed down in South Georgia (fart, and they smelled it in Florida kinda South). We'd get away to go camping as often as we could, and once we had access to cars, we started driving up to the Appalachians to camp. Mountains will always hold a place in my heart. We lost track of each other after highschool, I went and joined the Navy and had a stroke or something that caused me to volunteer for submarines. Qualified on three of them before getting out in 1998. My Dad, who passed in 2009, was a big fan of Texas history, and grew up on Westerns. He knew every John Wayne and Clint Eastwood western by heart. First time I saw "Outlaw Josey Wales" was sitting on the sofa, watching it with him. Still love that movie.

  15. My Black Panther cut, that I just completed and posted in Bragging Rights, was actually cut because it was trully based on a nostalgia memory/reason. Back in the fifties my High School Teams were called the Panthers and this particular pattern is almost identical to the Black Panther Images use on the team jerseys and jackets. None of my other work fits the challenge criteria.

  16. My first Serious Fretwork challenge. I had only been scrolling for a couple of years and it was my first ribbon presented to me by Wes Demarest who was an editor for Creative woodworking and crafts magazine back then. 2006 It was a Jeff Zaffino design. It was also my first homemade frame and attempt at matt cutting. the frame is Cherry. Baltic birch stack cut 3 up.

  17. This takes me back about 8 years when I was trying to think what I was going to give to my wife for Valentines day. I was looking through some patterns and found this one a on a CD I had purchased and decided that that my wife might enjoy having this one for her decors. I hit the target with it, as she loved it and has it now in a prominent place in our home to this day. I also had a request for one of these from my grandson, for their wedding gift. They did not need anything for their wedding, in the way of gifts, except to maybe one of grampa's tower clocks. So this clock with always have a special place in my heart. Dick heppnerguy

  19. This was my first band saw box. I made it for my Mom. I asked her what she wanted for Christmas one year,, she said "not a thing". So in the drawer of the box I wrote on a little card, "Not A Thing". She's been gone now for 3 years.... The Good ol' days.

  20. I jut found it troublesome as the sawdust got under the tape and obscured the line. I thought I had burnished very well but perhaps not enough. I have lots of packing tape so may try it again on some compound cutting. That's where I tried using it before and got frustrated.

Thank you. This is the first time I've attempted something this thick so was very pleased to actually do it. I've always done 3mm + 6mm before so this was quite an expedition into the unknown for me.

Absolutely beautiful work on these! For the monogram, there are several Old English fonts that would be a good match.

There was a font pattern sheet with the plans and I used the "G" on the first clock not thinking about a second clock. Now I'm trying to find a matching font. I've spent about 3 hours searching "dafont" with no success. I'll just keep looking.

  43. The caps on those cans are the trouble. What I did to solve this was as soon as i am done using the can, I take the nozzle off and leave it soaking in a mason jar of mineral spirits. This solved 99% of the trouble.

  44. I'm a top feeder on my Pegas but a bottom feeder on my Hegner. Too awkward for me to try to hold down the top arm and get the blade correctly in the clamp.

  45. Ditch the Krylon brand and use shellac or deft and when your done using them turn the can upside down and spray it til the tip cleans off. It helps to also manually clean the tip front after with mineral spirits before you put it away.

  46. I have several compressors and thanks to someone here who brought this up, I recently purchased this spray gun It is VERY easy to use and does not use a lot of pressure. I turn my main compressor down to 45-50 and spray I could easily use my pancake compressor if I wanted with this gun It covers very well, it is also extremely easy to clean. You simply place the medium in a mason jar, attach the jar and the compressor and spray away I use Polyurethane and Shellac through it, and both use soap and water for clean up and for tougher cleanups I use denatured alcohol. I keep a jar of soap and water and denatured handy both in mason jars for easy attachment to clean up It cost $50. I should mention I also have 5 other sprayers that I no longer use (HPLV and LPHV) and this one is so much easier to use and clean

  47. Shellac also is very easy to apply with a spray can, but has some of the same issues as lacquer when it comes to temperature and humidity. Very high heat will cause dried shellac to soften and high humidity during application will cause blushing. Otherwise, it fits your criteria pretty well. I've not had problems with the nozzle clogging as long as I take rudimentary steps to keep it clean.

  48. Tack rags, tack cloth whatever. This what I use. They work just fine and I have used them for years and they never leave any residue. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001YJFYE8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

  49. I would say that the packing tape layer is not necessary. The masking tape should provide a similar benefit of blade lubrication.
