  1. This is my favorite band Dream Theater. Due to chemo side effects, I have no feeling in my hands and feet so this is about as fancy is I get for a while. At least I get to enjoy all the amazing art posted here. Happy scrolling all and God bless

Hot off the scrollsaw, variation of a Baggetta pattern. 1" square dowel, poplar, red oak stain, #5 FD polar blade, blue tower crystal ( I liked the contrast ).

  3. Les will be missed by all of us. He will be remembered for the great guy that he was, but I believe that Les would want to be remembered for his tag line at SSV: Rockytime aka Les For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. Romans 1:16 Rest in peace my friend, we will meet again on the other side of the river.

  4. Now I know I have not been here for some time and heard this news through another scroller. I knew he was a regular contributor here and I have known Les for a long time through other sites. I was so sorry to hear that he passed. I knew he was battling the dreaded covid and it took him away from us all. I am sure many of us know of cases that affected loved ones and close friends. I lost a sister this past Dec to covid and it is not something that chooses an age group or any other specifics. We lost a friend and all around great person. Without getting into politics or any beliefs I just would like to say please consider the Vaccine not only for yourself but for those around you and for those you may even touch just by a simple press of a key on a keyboard. With a heavy heart, Rest In Peace . My condolences go out to the family.

  5. I converted this pattern I found on-line and modified it to make it an 11” square scroll saw pattern. Had to add some bridges and modified the pumpkin shape a little to make the letters to read better. Both the cut panel and backer is ¼” thk BB Ply cut with Pegas #0 MGT R blades. The panels were hand painted with Acrylic Artist Paints and protected with multiple coats of clear gloss spray Polyurethane, as this piece will hang outside on the front of my home. And again, the Frame is Poplar…oh yeah, that’s right, there is no frame Critique and comments always appreciated. EDIT PS: Just sitting here looking at the pic and realized this would be a great pattern to use with a back lit orange plastic backer.

    Hegner Question

Ray, I believe the single speed Hegners run at 1700spm. I think the best people to ask about converting it to VS would be the fine folks at Henger. I'm sure someone here probably knows as well but I'm not that person, LOL Sounds like a heck of a deal though for $40.

  8. At about $.25 per blade, it's probably worth the risk.

  9. Looks great to me, sometimes I really dont have a project to work on so I just tinker with cutting scrap, any time on the saw is good. Nice clean cutting. Chris Nice fly swatter...

I finally got of my behind and did some work in the shed, worth posting. The letters I have left over from when I used to make and sell these.I probably have more then 100. My Daughter picked out the name, for a friends baby and I had to make VW to pull it. Managed to find my old jigs and patterns and rather enjoyed it. I made three VW's so a couple spare. I had a steam engine and a truck also to pull the names.

    Hegner Question

Thanks Kevin, I did talk to Wolfgang about it and he said it would not be possible. But, I won't take no for an answer until I have done all the due diligence of talking to folks. He said I'd have to change the motor and add all the electronics. That just doesn't seem right but who am I to argue? I'd rather just toss it out there to see if that is really true. I'm going to clean it up and sell it more than likely. I don't have room for 3 saws much less 4. But, it's hard to pass up a deal. I had to drive about 4 hours round trip to get it but at that price, it was still a deal.

Al Baggetta, a member here, designed several wand patterns that were featured in Scollsaw woodworking and crafts magazine. Another trio of wands were featured in the next issue. Fox Chaple has a new book out with additional patterns. They look like they could be good sellers so I am trying my hand at making them. Because of copyright issues I wanted to back away from the word "wand". Since my first name is Wichita and my business name is Wich's Wonders (a pretty good catchall) I decided to call them "Wich Sticks" a play on words from several directions. These are intended as something that looks "cool" on display. I make a small heart box with a locking pin that is held in place with a magnet, it takes a "magic wand"(dowel with a magnet) to open it. One of these "Wich Sticks" has a magnet in the tip so it can be used to open the box, just a fancy option. The stick with the crystal is just another attempt to make it fancy (so I can charge more).

Awesome job. You even made my pattern look grand. Always rewarding to me to see what folks are able to do with these patterns. Thanks for showing us your work. Also, to save folks from having to hunt through the files for the pattern, here you go.

  33. I'd cut that one just before I did this. Cutting Steve's torus is what made me go back and tweak the lines to make them a bit thicker. I lost a little bit of the details in the center, but it was an edit that needed to happen.
