Today I made ... (drum roll) !!! Firewood !! Went to my workshop today to make a Tiger for an upcoming event where it would be 'raffled' for charity. Now, I've cut this pattern a dozen times, it's not a difficult cut, but could I do it today ? No... So I've decided to go and do my ironing instead, keep your fingers cross that my dear husband has some shirts left by the time I've finished.8 points

Dogwood Box
Tomanydogs and 6 others reacted to Denny Knappen for a topic
A Dogwood Box pattern by Diana Thompson from one of her books. This one was cut at home on the EX21 using FD Polar #9 and #5 blades. Even though I sell Pegas, this was completed at home with the few FD blades I had leftover. The box is Walnut and the Dogwood flower is Hard Maple. The finish is one coat spray Shellac and two coats spray Clear Satin Lacquer.7 points -

Well I have been a little busy lately, After I made the 2000 Vette for my Cousin and Popeye. I thought I would use up a lot of scrap I have been piling up, and do some painting. Something I don't do to very often. I have never made these to sell. Gonna try it tomorrow at the Flea Market. I hope they go over we well. Keeping my fingers toes and eyes crossed, well maybe not my eyes I need to drive Wish me Luck, Everyone have a Great Weekend.5 points

The 16” King should be close to the same quality as the Pegas saw. Change over to the Pegas blade clamps and you will have a top notch saw!3 points

Baltic Birch Shortage Reason Maybe
OzarkSawdust and one other reacted to FrankEV for a topic
Athough they are available through HD, they are not the typical big box store type product as they are very high quality panels, as the price indicates, intended for laser cutting. I much prefer to cut them then BB pyly. The vaneer is of a much better quality for finishing and I found that there are no voids. Also, the grain in the vaneer is much more uniform than the BB ply.2 points -
Yep, it's that kind of day. ! Tony only wears cotton shirts so iron I must. or he turns up bare chested which at his age is not a pretty sight2 points

Dogwood Box
FrankEV reacted to Denny Knappen for a topic
Thanks Frank. The flower petals were compound cut. No carving only sanding.1 point -
Thanks Frank. The cat 'oval' is actually a piece of b/b cut ½" wide and put on top of the cat like a faux frame. The birds I must admit are always enjoyed, simple but sweet.1 point
-
NIce work on the Cat. The oversized oval backer is just great. The Birds, as always, just magnificent. The piece of wood you chose really captures the moon effect. My lady made me hang the version of the Birds, I made quite awhile ago, in our living room. I think she likes that one the best of all I have made for her.1 point

I think all that design saw come out of the same building...except maybe the 21" Excalibur, which I've heard comes from China with some issues. Yes, I changed to Pegas blade clamps right away thanks to Denny at Art Crafters!1 point -
Baltic Birch Shortage Reason Maybe

How do they cut Frank? When I first started out I tried cutting core type stuff from a big box store...very bad. It would always break off pieces, usually the last one or two cuts, and crumble. Someone here explained what true Baltic birch plywood was and I ordered it...MUCH better! I've never used anything else from that day on. I get my BB from Ocooch and use Pegas blades exclusively now, but I'm open to other, less expensive ideas.1 point -

We can walk about a mile down to what is called "The Wetlands" and have a view of Catalina Island and the Long Beach Harbor area. The cargo ships are lined up as far as the eye can see waiting to get into port for offloading. Just about everything we all are waiting for to fill the shelves in our stores is sitting on those ships. Hopefully those boxes of wood are out there.1 point -

Poplar boards... what the hell...
OzarkSawdust reacted to FrankEV for a topic
My Lowes also has glued up 12" wide Poplar boards. I cut up Poplar boards into 1 3/4" wide sticks that I make my frames from. Although expensive, 12" wide boards make the frames rather economical. But cant use the glued up boards as the uneven grain doe not work well for stained frames. I've settled on cutting up 8" wide 6' long boards into 4 sticks with little waste.1 point -
