    I Ride a Harley

I just finished this up today, Steve Good pattern, cut out of 1/4" bb using a Pegas #3R Reverse Skip Blade.

  2. Cut this for a friend. It ended up having to be repaired due to there being a void just below the veneer. Thankfully they wanted it painted so I was able to hide the seams. just to the left side of the body in the the middle of the upper wing. "Sanding and paint make me the scroller that I ain't"

Only 89 cuts but took me about 7 hours. Either I am slowing down or need to find a better designer.

  4. Filigree Holiday Ornaments pattern by Keith Fenton found in SWWC current issue #85 pages 26 and 27. Stack cut 1/4" various hardwoods. These were cut at home on the EX21 using FD UR #1 blades. The finish is two coats Minwax Lacquer Clear Satin with sanding between coats.

    I Ride a Harley

That was one of my first pieces I did when I started to Sroll seriously. I hangs on the wall just above my desk. Why, you may ask?. Because I realy do ride a Harley. A 2019 Barracuda Silver Street Glide Special To be exact. Wanna see: Here in The Daytona Beach area of Central Florida, it happens to be Biketoberfest. Thousands of bikes are in for the four day festivities. Just got back a few hours ago from a ride down the East Coast of the Atlantic Ocean along Highway A1A. BTW, I failed to mention you did a very nice job on the cutting.

  7. Two days late as her birthday was Tuesday. That's me,!!! I made it on a beautiful teak venier but failed to conciser the fragileness of it. So a little backer behind it helped after it was all done. I aim to put a smile on a girl's face just for their time. I also for got to take a finished picture of it , poor me.theres a clock init too but that's in the missing picture. Not bad for not having my office word program to work from.

  10. My wife showed me a picture a couple days ago of a little pin storage box and asked if I could make one for her... So I did... Made out of oak. The lid swivels on a brass rod to open and as soon and my order comes I will put a magnet in the lid and a piece of rod in the base to hold the lid closed... If she drops a pin, she can easily remove the lid and use the magnet to pick up the pin...

  11. I use MDF for backerboards and have seen some MDF with a papered veneer similar to what I believe you bought Baltic Birch has been my go to ornament board however 1/8 sheet jumped in price from 17 dollars to about 50 bucks in my area of the world and I have been told the lumber yards are having trouble importing it in

  12. Looks like a job for the bandsaw to me, LOL.. Or as Jerry said.. cut slightly oversized and sand to the size you need..

  13. I quit sawing 2 years ago, but learned this: Cut oversize and sand it straight. It will make your life a lot easier.

  17. She do not sound good... Call Ray quickly.... How long have you had it? I bought mine when they first came out..so far not a problem with it, but it is my less used saw. It doesn't have a great deal of time on it.. Hope it is a quick fix..

  20. Think your speed controller is gone bad.. Ray probably has one in stock and could probably send one in the mail right away.. Though the mail is being slow as ever lately.. If you have a air compressor you might try blowing some air to see if maybe it just got some dust in it.. Don't blow at high pressure though.. maybe 10 - 20 psi at most.

Nice work, both on the cutting and on the repair. I know, I know, it was the wood's fault, but we also know some of us like to fess-up when we make a Boo Boo, but if you never tell anyone, nobody ever knows. It is also what makes these peices "one-of-a-kind".

Probably works lots of hours a week and has no time to ride. Jobs and family take priority. Today you really need to be retired and have a good pension to enjoy the luxury of riding a motorcycle.

Well done. Would never have noticed the boo-boo if you hadn't pointed it out. Took me a little to find it on the picture before the repairs. Nice job all the way around.

    I Ride a Harley

Way cool @FrankEV.. My story,,, I had a neighbor that was an avid biker.. He had a beautiful Harley... He decided to buy a custom built bike... and I drove him a 100 miles to pick it up... He afforded to sell me his Harley for $9 grand,,, just so we could ride together. I pondered,,, my wife said go ahead do it... but, I just couldn't justify spending the money on something just on myself... I had kids heading to college and we wanted do help them... So I declined... the following week he sold it to the first person to look at it for $12 grand.. But that is life... My, college educated son,,, thanks for the help Dad... has a beautiful Harley sitting in his garage,,, just wasting away... hasn't ridden it for several years..

  35. So if I understand well the spiral blade does not deviate as the regular blade , and give a better straight cut ? Just buy recently those blades , but did not yet cut so much pieces. Thanks Wichman I will try it. And Jerry I did your tip cutting oversize and sanding after, and I will try it on my future cutting. To small pieces for the bandsaw as for tablesaw. Well, thanks everyone Will come back with my tries! planeur

  36. I would look for scroll saw books by Patrick Spielman. When I started scrolling, his books are what I turned to. Here is a link to titles; Amazon may have some of them. The second link is the book I bought when I first started and it is good but likely outdated: https://www.goodreads.com/author/list/84053.Patrick_Spielman https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0806972246/ref=x_gr_w_bb_sout?ie=UTF8&tag=x_gr_w_bb_sout-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=0806972246&SubscriptionId=1MGPYB6YW3HWK55XCGG2

  40. Yes I know that , but I want to cut very small pieces, to small for the tablesaw, and I want the most precision as possible! Cutting by following a line is ok for me , but I need precision at the .002/3 " and very straight as on the tablesaw. I did that to make some tests, not yet finish planeur

I don't use spirals.. and it's 16 inches... finished.. so longer before you cut the perimeter. so with the Seyco or Dewalt, you have 8 inches from the blade to table edge.. Pegas is like 4? so you would have 12 inches past the table. If you have a gut like me, you'll be sucking it in and sawing looking like the hunchback of notre dame when cutting the pieces near the ends. LOL

  42. I agree with Ray. Easier to learn to cut straight.

    Tough Day

I just finished this Mike Williams pattern. I like to cut portraits pretty small and I cut this one 9x6 inches. It made for some pretty intense scrolling, all done with Pegas 2/0 spiral blades on my Pegas saw. I hope you enjoy it. I haven’t posted on here in a while, though I scroll almost everyday. I was deeply saddened to see the news about the passing of Les. This community lost a very encouraging contributor.

  44. I recently posted something like that but everybody said they just learned to cut straight with practice. A fence or miter gauge type thing really isn't a necessity on a scroll saw.

  48. I bought many books. But....the best thing you can do is first, hang out here and ask questions. Second download some practice patterns and practice, practice and practice some more. A large part of scrolling is developing "muscle memory". That just takes time. And practice.
