    Christmas sign

Been absent lately.. But I got another project done. Total size is about 12x16 inches. It's cut from about 1/4" thick quilted maple guitar second blanks, using Olson #2/0R blades. It's a Sheila Landry pattern.

  2. So these are double sided. One side is the snowman, and the other is the scarecrow. Made from box store 1x4x5' boards. the plans call to paint on the eyes and nose and buttons, but I have made 3 of these, and I just cut them from some scrap 1/8" thick ply. The flowers are hot glued on, and the scarves and bandanas are stapled on. Smiles are painted on, then the whole thing got a couple light coats of satin clear spray paint. Plans can be found here: https://www.hgtv.com/lifestyle/holidays/how-to-make-a-reversible-scarecrow-snowman-porch-display

    Just off the saw

Just finished cutting these. Now for some sparkle paint. 1/8" BB, 8 layers (1" thick), #1 FD polar blades Can you tell which was the top and which was the bottom?

  5. This is my first project on my new saw, a King 16". It went much easier than I expected and better than the Delta, which was a surprise to me. It's a video game image I put on a basswood blank for my daughter who's an avid gamer. I will be filling it in with tinted epoxy. Chris

    Beauty and the horse

Hello Everyone, I finished this job today in my garage, sunny day but cold 46.80F. My wife said, you are crazy (but she came with a cup of coffee) I don't know how to make the edges, did you have an idea? Eric

    Farm combine

My granddaughter ask me if I had a pattern for a Farm Combine. I could not find one. After she was gone for about a month I found one and purchased it. She wanted to give it to a neighbor who had been a big help to her and her husband on their farm, as a thank you gift. I have never enjoyed wooden toys much but I decided to try and make one anyway. It was a little complex to understand the patterns at first and I even glued one of them on backwards and had to cut it off and hopefully it could figure out how to do that without damaging the preexisting vehicle. I got lucky on it and was able to cut another piece and put it on without it being noticeable. the wheels and the front cutting roll and the yellow grain shoot pivots too, to give it some interest. It was a little difficult for me but I am glad it came out as well as it did. I plan on making one for a farm guy who gave me a ride in one as he cut his field when I was in Oregon a few months ago. Scrollsaw baskets

Is $40 too much for these baskets? Takes me around three hours to make one. Using scrap hardwoods and spray polyurethane to finish. I put them on marketplace 2 days ago and no takers yet.

    Making The World

All, I have been fighting some challenges to get out to the shop. Just reached a point in a project that I am thinking adding more will take away from the subject. Please tell me what you think about it. backing: sanded plywood painted patriot blue North America: Walnut Mexico: Purpleheart South America: Yellowheart Africa: Zebrawood Europe: Olivewood Asia: East Indian Rosewood Australia: Red Grandis all dipped with Teak oil. Hope you enjoy this endeavor I tackled. Took me about two months to get to this point. Probably going to have an oak border on it.

  13. Another one from Charles Hand's "Circular Scroll Saw Designs" book (I think that's the name of it). 3/4" whiteboard, used a number of Pegas #3 MG blades and Minwax "Early American" stain. Took a while to cut, due to some office travel and other home projects. Not a difficult cut, just....a lot of cutting.

  14. The whole reason for buying my laser was that I got a lot of request for personalized ornaments.. as in adding names, dates, company names etc. etc. to existing designs I was selling. I did as much as I could but as everyone knows the more holes the weaker the wood and doing text with scroll saws ( especially very small text ) is somewhat tough to do.. especially for those that want a lot of text added.. Anyway I used to turn away a whole lot of work because of too much text or many various reasons. My original intention was to scroll saw the custom ornaments ahead as blanks and have the added space for laser engraving. This proved to be complicated and almost just as time consuming as scrolling each individual ornament trying to line up the correct spot to engrave etc. I found myself messing up a quite a few ornament blanks thus throwing out a lot of hard work that was otherwise a good hand cut ornament blank. SO I finally just broke down and did away with the handmade ( scroll sawn ) ornament with the custom request.. I make certain my customer knows that I have a machine that makes the ornament from start to finish. Honestly.. I have yet to see a customer that really cared HOW the item was made.. they just see the design / ornament and see a perfect themed gift for that special person they know.. Below is a couple samples of what I make and how I design the custom made spot for the engraved part. I crossed out the name for privacy reasons on the one ornament shown.. The other customer just reached out asking about adding text the the target practice themed ornament.. I made one for her and she liked it so much she asked for several more names etc. for friends.. I can see the personalization of various ornaments being a big hit.. I do not advertise at all about custom laser engraving etc.. but I get a crap load of customer request every year... The time from turning on the laser to a finished engrave and cut out ornament is about 6 minutes. Also adding the ability to laser a photo ornament has been growing very popular. I did a video of one on TikTok that I made for my son as he just got a new to him Cummins Dodge truck.. Wish he would sell one of the other 4 he has, my yard looking like a car lot.. between my to boys cars.. LOL https://www.tiktok.com/@kevskrafts/video/7025232222143778054?lang=en&is_copy_url=1&is_from_webapp=v1 After showing this on TikTok I am flooded with request, LOL Anyone here on TikTok?

  17. Charles Dearing pattern. I added one braid on the left side, his right, and the braids in his beard. I used black canvas with some holes in it as the backer, like the sails on the Black Pearl. As always Charles captured the eyes perfectly. The pattern is free on his site. Cut in 1/2 red oak. About 8" X 10".

    Birthday card box

A friend asked me to make a birthday card box, much like a recipe box, for a woman celebrating her 90th birthday. She will keep her , approx. 200, birthday cards from church members in it. Flower is a gardenia. Cedar with hard maple inlay. 6"x8"x6"tall.

  21. Not sure whether you just made a typo here or in your search. It's a 571-5 and I found lots of parts diagrams for it. The brushes seem to be encased inside of a plastic housing that covers the motor and houses the electricals.

  22. I've been looking for schematics and parts for the 751-5 - can't find any on the internet. Will have to breakdown and try to call them on Monday. Thanks for all the suggestions. BTW - I found a new, unused WEN 3921 for $70 - going to pick it up tomorrow.

    Pegas-Scroll-Band-Saw?

I'm looking for a scroll band saw. I work with dense foam for gun and demo cases for custom products. I outline or buy a paper outline and under cut about 5% smaller so everything fits snug. I bought some 6" thick dense foam 4'x8' sheets and it is to big for my scroll saw. This thicker foam allows me fit more accessories without tearing the foam. Laser CNC is best for this but I don't have $5k for the 7watt gas laser. Plus, I wouldn't know how to use the software. $1,500 is still a lot to only find out if it can cut the foam. But, if it does cut this stuff without gumming up. $1,500 is not so bad. I'd be able to make real nice laser like cuts with minimal marks. Is anyone in southern California? I'd like to bring a sample of the foam to test it.

  28. I agree he is talking about a scroll saw but it is a Dremel. The bushings I had replaced were on a rotary tool but hopefully Dremel will be kind enough to send him bushings for his scroll saw as they were for sending me the bushings for the rotary tool. Sorry for the confusion.

  32. No this is my K40 laser.. The one for the CNC is a very low power 2 watt diode laser which is only good for engraving. That one has a working 24 x 24 working area and is open ended so I could tile the project and do 24 x indefinite length.. It's just low powered and in my opinion hardly worth the down time from carving to set it up and run the laser on it.. The K40 is probably 5 - 8 times or more faster.. plus will cut projects.. My K40 is just a cheapy from eBay that I believe I paid $340 shipped for.. The larger ones I'm looking at getting start at around $1700 and depending on the format size and bells and whistles can go way up around maybe $8-9000.. If you was looking to get a laser I recommend purchasing through Omtech.. the smaller 40watt are the same as the K40 I have but they are gone through by Omtech and have a better out of the box more reliable machine than just going to eBay and taking a chance on what you get.. You might have to do a lot of work to get the cheaper ones to work right..

  35. Yes done completely with the laser.. Wood is 1/8 BBply.. I have cut 1/4 ply and solid wood with one pass with it but most times it requires me to cut it two passes meaning having to cut it twice to cut all the way through.

  36. They look great, so what you are saying is that is all done with a laser, cut and lettered ? How thick is the wood? RJ

Well I have been busy down at my little shop. Sturing up some dust and brushing on some paint. I have been doing some Truck Front's I call'em. and some well known toons. I have several more fronts to do, then I will start on Car Front's. I may do another engine, I kinda liked doing one that still looked like an engine. not the ones you see under your hoods now days.
